I’m a Proud Conservative. My Disabled Son Needs Medicaid to Live.

Maybe consider becoming a proud liberal, or at the very least, an ashamed conservative. Why would you be proud of a party that is actively working to take away your son’s rights? What if you didn’t have a disabled son…would you be proud of a party that’s trying to take away a stranger’s rights? This whole “I didn’t care about poor/gay/trans/POC rights until they directly affected me” thing just exposes how selfish some people are. God bless the able bodied rich white straight cis men who still vote democrat because it’s the RIGHT THING TO DO

Conservatives don’t care about disabled people at all, and never did. They cut their [disabled people’s] funds and promote eugenics.

Conservative and needing and social service can't exist together

I hope your son keeps Medicaid but conservatism is generally opposed to such things. I would suggest you re evaluate your political stances, although it may not help your son. In any case, it isn’t good that you didn’t care until now, but if it gets you to support good things, I’m not opposed to you changing.

If you voted for Trump, I do not feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for your son. I’m not a political tech person however I have morals and I also have common sense and it seems like a lot of people who voted for Trump did not get the full message And even if you don’t like Vice President Harris that doesn’t matter to me what does matter is that people continue to ignore the red flags that Donald Trump shows. Me being a disabled person on Medicaid. I received Medicaid back in 2022. During 2020 during the pandemic I paid close attention to Trump during his first term. Presidents are not perfect. However, Donald Trump ignored the fact that we were in a global pandemic and made it about him. He did not make it about the American people in a ton of people lost their lives because of it

Now people are ignoring the fact that Donald Trump is doing it again. He has invited the country so badly to the point of no return and it is sad that it takes a father who voted conservative to see that now something is affecting him. And now millions of people like your son are going to lose Medicaid if they haven’t already lost Medicaid . MU are not willing to do research on Google about project 2025. You don’t even have to read the whole entire bill because during the election I skimmed over the bill to see that Trump wants to get rid of Medicaid and Medicare and food stamps in assistant For housing. I’m on Medicaid and I receive food stamps so I’m a disabled person who can’t work at the moment and has to have food stamps in order for me to afford to eat because my SSI check is only enough for me to pay rent. My parents have to help me pay the rest of my bills. Again, I have no sympathy for parents to decide to vote conservative a.k.a. Republican not do research and now get on the Internet and complain that their loved ones are losing Medicaid or Medicare or their food stamps or they may have to take in their loved ones who are on housing assistance

What a lameass.

She only cares when it directly affects her and her family, of course.

Typical bullshit.

There are loads and loads of disabled Republicans and disableds

The hate on this sub towards half the US is unsurprising as it is grotesque

Considering Republicans will be the cause of disabled Americans losing their Healthcare thanks to the big beautiful bill, I think that hate is just a tad bit justified. I'm not going to be able to pay for my health insurance in 2026 thanks to the bill. I won't be able to live without health insurance.

That said, I don't hate republican voters. I feel bad they've fallen for an obvious grift. I'm disappointed in what has become of our country.
