Disc Advice Need Replacement Recs for Lat 64’s FURY
The Fury has been a staple in my wife’s bag her entire disc golf career. Now that it’s out of production, we’re trying to find something to replace it with. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that any other discs has these flight numbers. What disc would you use in place of the Fury? Thanks for your help with this!

Weird, Infinite Discs shop indicates that it’s out of production.
16
u/slickmitch Bogin' since '92 4d ago
They are wrong on lots of things on their site. Striker, Core, Fury, Trident, XXX all still in production. Tournament Hatchets, Sapphires and Jades are all good subs for the Fury as well.
4
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Yeah, apparently Infinite Discs is just dumb and lazy.
6
u/DeviousDaxter 4d ago
Their site seems to get hacked frequently too
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Hacked like how?
→ More replies (2)3
u/staggerleemcgee 4d ago
skimmers taking over the site every once in a while. I have told all my friends to never order from there again after the amount of times they have been hacked. Clearly the coding is terrible even with the new redesign. seems to be incompetent IT staff

Lat64/DD/Westside have very few molds that are truly OOP. They sometimes go multiple years without producing stock runs, but will then bring them back when inventory levels eventually drop.

u/mrunge340 3d ago
It's probably OOP at one point but they haven't updated. What do I know?
1
u/DookieToe2 3d ago
Apparently, Infinite Discs doesn’t have the most solid IT department and they fuck shit up like this often.

Kastaplast Falk. Way better plastic than latitude and it’s very somilar
5
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Love Kast plastics. The molds… eeeeehhh…. lol
2
u/Impossible_Ant000 3d ago
I will take the molds and good plastic over Discraft and the soapy ESP any day hahah

Just got one a couple weeks ago with the glide it’s like throwing an 11 speed driver

u/ChiefRingoI NE WI 4d ago
It's not out of production, Infinite Discs are just stupid and put that label on it with a bunch of others that aren't OOP. [And refuse to change it.] Edit: Latitude said they were going to reach out to them six months ago about the Bolt, which also not OOP.
You can get them in three plastics from Dynamic and the Factory Store. They aren't run super often, so selection can be limited, but they're very much current discs.

Oh yeah, that is -2 / 2! I forgot about that one.
2
u/Low_Importance_9503 4d ago
It’s a great mold! I’d say a downside of innova is sometimes the discs are much more stable than their flight numbers make it seem, but the upside is you can get their discs in a variety of weights (personally I love lightweight destroyers)
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I really like max weight DX Destroyers. For some reason they’re really straight and long for me. (Especially the stiff ones).
5
u/EllePewPew 4d ago
Been bagging Fury since I started playing. Get another one, or else:
Most alike is a Kastaplast Falk. Discmania Essence, DD Vandal are also good options that overlap that slot. Axiom Virus, though results might vary depending on the particular run/plastic. Sidewinder if you want Innova would be my best guess
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Apparently the OOP label at Infinite is wrong. A relief, but I’m glad I did this post as an excersize to see what else is out there.

3
u/MasterOfPlaster69 4d ago
Maybe a discraft heat but that is gonna be more understable
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
The glide is the same though and she primarily uses it for backhand shots that need to keep turning.
2
u/MasterOfPlaster69 4d ago
I’d pull the trigger then!! If it’s too flippy the other suggestions will be better suited and she’ll be able to use the heat later for more flippy shots anyways
1
3
u/robocop_shot_mycock 4d ago
1.) Opto Jade: closest numbers (just losing 1 fade)
2.) Gold Line Saint: you'd be gaining 1 glide but also 1 turn. However in my experience the opto plastic provides a bit more stability (compared to gold line) so it could counter act the more stable mold.
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Does the Jade come in 170g?
She already throws a Saint for straight shots that finish left RHBH.

Discraft Mantis
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Good on the turn and fade numbers, but a glide of 4? That seems really low.
3
u/Dr_Cuddy 4d ago
Don’t get hung up on some arbitrary numbers. Give it a few throws and watch some magic happen.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Oh yeah, you’d say that glide number is wrong?
2
u/Dr_Cuddy 4d ago
Glide is a made number to sell discs.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
You could say that about all the flight numbers.
2
u/Dr_Cuddy 4d ago
Glide is made up. Speed comes from a formula based on rim width. But to your point, flight numbers are relatively new in the grand scheme of disc golf history.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Glide doesn’t have a quantifiable measurement? Wouldn’t it be measured by the rate of drop at a certain speed?
2
2
3
u/MoonlitHunter 4d ago
Has she ever thrown a Gold Saint?
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Funny you say that, because her OS ‘mate’ to her Fury is a Gold Saint.
2
u/MoonlitHunter 4d ago
Ope. Nvm then.
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
She even has one that’s so beat in it’s practically a Fury (which I was suggesting she do if the OOP was true, which it isn’t)
2
u/MoonlitHunter 4d ago
I have a used bin Saint that I took out of the bag a while ago due to some overlap with a cheeky Explorer that’s well-beat. I think I’ll pull it out and mess with it again. So at least it wasn’t for nothing.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
The Saint is my go-to disc most of the time!
2
u/MoonlitHunter 4d ago
I threw it a lot last season, especially in the fall, but was trying to simplify a bit this year. Glad it got brought up though - something “new” to fart around with.
The more I think ab it the more I think I miss it on the downwind for the extra glide. It really wants to keep flying once it’s up there.

Westside Hatchet Discraft heat
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Does it ever bother you that Discraft has the raised mold name on the inner rim?
5
u/Nu_Chlorine_ I need everyone to know, that was a putter 4d ago
I don’t throw a lot of Discraft, just a zone really. But no. When I throw Discraft stuff I grip it on the raised embossed area on purpose
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
That’s very interesting! Do your fingers get roughed up if you do multiple rounds in a day?
4
u/Nu_Chlorine_ I need everyone to know, that was a putter 4d ago
No not at all. It really isnt a big deal, and if you wanted you could just grip it on any other section of the rim

I’m bagging a Clash Cinnamon and a Mint Discs Diamondback for this slot. They go very far when brand new, so they should get a long life as they continue to beat in and get more turn.

I got one in 172g in the Halloween Mystery Box and it immediately earned a spot in the bag.

Amazing disc, especially for lower arm speeds, I used to throw it all the time when I was just starting out

u/TD994 Custom 4d ago
Valkyrie or Mantis
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Do you bag these?
2
u/TD994 Custom 4d ago
I don't currently bag a valk, but I do bag 3 Mantises
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Are they all the same style Mantis?
2
u/TD994 Custom 4d ago
1.) beat in 167g big z that is Flippy - thrown flat will turn and get back to flat. 2.) light wear 177g big z that is straight to stable - thrown flat will turn slightly then fade, pretty close to what flight numbers would suggest. 3.) new 175g z that is beefy - flies more like a thunderbird than a mantis.
The big z that I have are old runs, but they tried to replicate the old flight with the new runs. The run of Z I bag was widely reviewed as very overstable, but that's what I was looking for in that slot.
2
u/Legitimate_Station99 4d ago
I have a a beat to shit flatter champ thunderbird that I put on a slight hyzer it flips up and goes dead straight.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
That’s sweet. I saw on here about a month ago someone posting how their beat in Stilletto flies straight and glided. Lol.

Axiom crave and the streamline echo! I am old and have slow.arm speed, but both of these fly and go where you want them to go!

u/dreadmorayeel4 4d ago
Neutron Tesla
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Seems a bit OS compared to the Fury, but I like the look of it.
2
u/dreadmorayeel4 4d ago
II saw you said she finds the sidewinder too flippy, I also bag one of those and the tesla is def more stable

u/ikarous2k 4d ago
I would absolutely recommend Kastaplast Falk. Very nice feel to the plastic and similar flight as fury.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Ya, that plastic is amazing. I think the Falk has a smaller wing than the Fury (at least the retooled ones).
2
u/Ok-Amoeba5301 4d ago
Axiom Insanity, or Discraft AvengerSS
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Ooh, the Avenger. I haven’t heard anyone talk about that disc in a long time.
1
u/Ok-Amoeba5301 4d ago
That one is my favorite right-finishing fairway driver. Fury has always been flippy for me as well, slightly different finish between the two, but they're like beginner-friendly flippy discs.
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I had a normal Avenger when I was starting out, but then moved away from Discraft (not a fan of their molds).
2
u/Ok-Amoeba5301 4d ago
Wait... do they make a normal Avenger now? Ah ok. What do you look for in a disc these days? I find Discraft is one of my favorite brands for flippy discs. AvengerSS is my most used, followed by the NukeSS for distance. Hades is low key very very nice, though I prefer the lighter model.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I find it interesting that Discraft offers the same ‘mold’ in varying forms of stability.
2
u/punkbreece 4d ago
So for my progression of the game. I went Mamba then to fury, and absolutely loved the fury. And then I threw a Mint free tail. Yes, it's faster in speed but trust me on this one
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Do you find the Mint to be significantly more OS than a Fury?
1
u/punkbreece 4d ago
At first yes. But it didn't take long to get a few good throws. I figured it out pretty quick and I've been bagging it since. And it was great to learn turnovers on and ultimately help me fix my form in general
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
A disc that effects your form is always good.
2
u/punkbreece 4d ago
If you want to go a tick slower. Mint jackalope is pretty solid and underrated
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I e been interested in Mint discs for quite some time. How is their plastic?
2
u/punkbreece 4d ago
The best. MVP does their pressings so it's basically neutron, proton, and electron plastics
1
2
u/dayungabruda 4d ago
Valk!
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I’ve found Valks to be pretty OS compared to the Fury. Especially in the premium plasrics.
2
2
u/Yum_Yukker 4d ago
Innova Dragon is also pretty close to
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
I don’t think they make Dragons heavy enough on account of them being a floating disc.

u/trydiscs TryDiscs.com 4d ago
Here are all of the similar discs based on flight numbers and disc dimensions: https://trydiscs.com/explore?m=latitude-64&d=fury&options=active,no-flight-exclude
Take the numbers with a grain of salt because they can differ a lot between manufacturers and even between plastic types but it’ll at least give you some options to consider. You can also filter for specific companies, flight numbers, or dimensions.
As others have mentioned the Fury is also still in stock at plenty of retailers. Here’s are some retailers that still have it: https://trydiscs.com/buy?q=Fury&d=367 Many have discount codes and free shipping deals listed too.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Wow! This is great! Thank you.
Also, the Fury OOP label on Infinute Discs is incorrect.
2
u/VIFrostyy 4d ago
I recommend one of axioms more flippy driver. I throw the insanity and lt reminds me of the fury just a little less dump at the end.

For future reference, a fuzion Vandal will beat in nicely to fly like a Fury. But someone already commented that Fury is still in production
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
How much beating in? A season of play? Maybe two?
2
u/BigNasty417 RHBH Altoona, PA 4d ago
I'd say 1 good season will get you there. Im currently bagging 5 Vandals, and my favorite is a trilogy challenge orbit wysocki Vandal. That thing flips with no effort.
2
2
u/Abnormal_Kitty 4d ago
Personally I'd go Champion Sidewinder because that's my disc for that slot and while it does have some stability initially, it beats in very nicely
1
2
u/Clean_Rush_5776 4d ago
slightly beat in s-line CD1 from Discmania, the CD1 maybe just a touch less glidey, but very similar In flight.
1
2
u/Capital-Will8814 4d ago
Id recommend the Time Lapse, its a 125-1_3
Or a simple Convict from Dynamic Discs
1
2
u/PappaGamer 4d ago
Have you tried the lat64 sapphire? Very similar numbers but it’s a 10 speed. The DD Vandal is also close. It’s only a -1.5 turn but I think it’s more under-stable than listed.
1
2
u/firefox987654321 4d ago
Try an Inertia or Insanity, maybe even a trail but the trail will probably be a bit more stable.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
What plastics would you reccomend?
2
u/firefox987654321 4d ago
For the inertia probably neutron it might start a bit stable. For the insanity you could go either neutron or fission. The fission plastic you can find in lighter weights. The Trail I’d probably go with neutron, but they have fission and not out just yet the Halloween proton plastic.

u/larsvondank 4d ago
The WS Disc Hatchet is pretty much a Fury with a different stamp.
1
u/DookieToe2 3d ago
I feel like the Hatchet is a tad more OS than the Fury, but it’s damned close.
2
u/larsvondank 3d ago
My VIP one is more US than I would have liked it to be. All Saints I have had have been more OS. The Saint Pro is perfect for straight glidey shots. The Hatchet for me is for S lines and hyzerflips (when max powered for longer shots.
An Ice river is also a very good one to have if Fury is something you like. Its a more OS River, but its a River so its not that OS to begin with.

Feel awesome in Bravo glow plastic. LSD glow discs are on par with the best glow plastic on the market

Legacy Mongoose would be perfect. Smaller company founded by OG disc golf brothers in So Cal. Bamba and Steve Rico. Great guys and a great company supporting and sponsoring amateur disc golfers. Check them out.
2
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
Pretty flippy, but I’ll bet it holds that turn the whole way.
2
u/Stryxe4ds 4d ago
The Phenom is the next one down as far as understable ratings go. It's like a slightly flippy Wraithe for me.

u/climbingbubba 4d ago
TSA mantra, Discmania essence, Prodigy h7 (more stable than the numbers), MVP trail, Axiom insanity, Kastaplast falk, Innova gorgon
These have all filled similar slots in my bag.
Or just stock up on Fury's since they are still fairly easy to find.
→ More replies (3)1
u/elsemyano 4d ago
My H7 is very understable, pretty accurate to the numbers. Trail may work though if glide is what she's looking for
1
u/Cautious-Island8492 4d ago
What weight was the Fury? How did it fly for her? Some "similar discs" would be the Discraft Heat, Innova Valkyrie, Axiom Insanity, or Innova Sidewinder. But plastic and weight can make a difference. She might have to try a couple before she finds the best fit.
1
u/DookieToe2 4d ago
She throws Gold plastic around 170g and she uses it for those shots that RHBH hold a gentle turn to the right the whole flight.

u/Armaphilo 4d ago
Fury is nothing like the numbers state. Much more understable. Look for an underworld.

Valkyrie or sidewinder
Edit: possibly in lighter weights depending on how the disc flew for her
