Love this angle. Two observations: Gavin Babcock’s forehand is a thing of beauty. Gannon looks like he barely put anything into that throw.

Damn seeing Gannon from this perspective makes what he does that much more incredible

I was just thinking the same thing. There’s crushing a drive and then there’s vaporizing it.

Buhr with a CANNON.
Spolier
he made the putt and got an eagle. 600+ drive.

Thanks for the Spolier

<spoiler> it’s only a spolier if it comes from the spolier region of France, otherwise it’s just sparkling score updates </spoiler>

I hope Paul can take it down tomorrow! Show the “old man” still has it!

A bunch of us are rooting for Paul today. I like Gannon but I'm sick of seeing him win so often.
It's always fun to see close competition no matter who's playing.

This is exactly how I felt about Paul all the years he was on top. Lol
Honestly I love all Paul has done for the sport, so mad respect for him there, but man was I salty whenever he won a tournament directly over any of my actual favorites.

Yeah, I get it. I've only been playing disc golf for 2 years now so I missed the prime McBeth era, but it's just boring AF whenever one team/player always wins.
I've met Gannon in person, he's a good dude.

He beat Gannon by 1 stroke

They tied at -13 under today, but he is beating him by 1 overall. Masterclass rounds from both!

I haven't kept up with the tour as much as I used to, but the first tee box at Idlewild definitely did not look like this just a few years ago correct?
Either way it looks way way better than years past. You love to see the effort put forth for such a beautiful complicated course.

It blows my mind that the gallery for disc golf has more decorum than that of stick golf.

Less alcohol will do that.

u/krtyalor865 1d ago
And more weed will do that too

DG should have Cart Girls (and lads) who drive around with THC products. Cart is short for cartridge in this case. 😉
Gummie Gal (Guy) also has a cool sound.

I agree less alcohol is a factor, and also fewer entitled people (with larger disposable income) in the DG gallery than ball golf. Would be interesting to compare the cars in the parking lot of a DG tournament vs those in a ball golf tournament.

Maybe because there are 5% of the amount of people?

Fans with poor behavior is only a small fraction. When you have significantly less people your odds of even having a fan with poor behavior go down.
People have a weird little brother complex with golf.

Anyone else surprised they didn't announce Gannon as "current world champion " ? or is that not a thing or in poor taste?

They introduced everyone yesterday with what year they won Idlewild. Seems like that was the only intro stat they’re getting this year

Heading to spectate tomorrow! Never been to Idlewild nor a dgpt event, any helpful advice for making the most of spectating? Things people should know beforehand?

We do BBQ will feed you 2-3 times for $15. You can fairly easily loop holes 1-5 if you want to walk and catch a few cards early. There are plenty of good spots to park for awhile, hole 6 tee has viewing real close to the pad.
For autographs I'd check live score, when someone you want is on 17,head to the autograph tent as there will already be a line. Said tent is right at the end of hole 18 and almost everyone stops by. I think Catarina Allen was the only one I saw not stop yesterday, but it looked like someone had hit her truck in the parking lot so no hate.
Edit to add Ohn is a fucking sweat heart. Got to chat with her and her hubby for a good few minutes.

Just be quiet and respectful and don’t ask them to sign discs while on the course

Idle Wild looks like a fun course. Lots of variety, uphill, downhill, long holes, short ones, bombers, wooded, water hazards. . . seems like it has everything and is also in a beautiful location.

Have played quite a bit and it is truly amazing. It will kick your ass, but it’s a pleasure to have your ass kicked by it. I go play there whenever I think I’m getting good to be humbled.

It looks like one of the more fun courses on the pro tour. I'm sure it would kick my ass.

Honestly, the older I get the more I hate this sport. Watching these guys with their effortless 500ft shots... I play this course and this drive straight out of an hour car ride is rough.

Hmmm... I've seen this a couple of times now, but isn't using the dust for drying your hands to check the wind direction a violation of 813.02? I know this is speculation, but I feel like I keep seeing this?
