Discussion Idlewild - Earhart & Perkins w/ Zellner

No spoilers here.

Watching Idlewild final round and I really enjoy this course. This course has a great combination of woods and open holes.

I’m also enjoying the commentary team. Brian and Nate feed off one another and Zellner provides somes solid insight when asked. The sport coats are goofy, but so what. I think this group should get a few more events

What say you?

Do you like the course and the commentary team?

Can't speak to this particular tournament, but imo Nate Perkins has been a deeply underappreciated commentator in the booth the past few years.

“I need an extra Creed ticket” - random fan at Idlewild (after Paul crushed his drive on 1)

Perkins had a weekend. So happy for the guy

Nate and Brian have been my favorite field reporters for as long as I can remember. It was a treat to have them both in the booth during the event.

I've really enjoyed Grant on the course.

I literally couldn't watch doss and Terry together earlier this year. Nothing wrong individually but they are way to similar to work together. Nate and Brian are so much better in comparison. Grants asmr live commentary was a little rough though, I get the need but maybe step back a little bit.

Brian Earhart is such a gem on any broadcast. I haven't even watched Idlewild this year but I am still sure he's been doing a fantastic job.

Grants commentary in general has become my favorite part of the broadcast

Is your DGN app working? I can't seem to load into mine.

Good luck, maybe a refresh / or close the app fully and reopen

Tried that, didn't work. Also said the content wasn't available so maybe I didn't renew my subscription?? Or is this one an exclusive event ??

Turn subtiles on and off again, removes them for me

On my TV the option has completely vanished, I never turned them on. Very weird

Having played in 48 states and on many top-rated courses, this is one of my top 5 courses. A good mix of long and short, open and wooded holes. There ARE lines to hit through the trees - they're easier to see in person than on video. Well placed OB, but not too much. The carpet-covered greens on a few holes are unique and interesting.

I also enjoyed the commentary team. Brian and Perks have great chemistry, are knowledgeable, and have battle scars from their years on tour. Grant is well-spoken and insightful with his on-course commentary - I'm glad he has this gig post-PDGA.

The McBeast vs. Buhr battle showed off the course well. Kudos to TD Adam Jones and his team for a great courses setup. I always look forward to Idlewild.

The difference is insane between these 2 and Ian and Philo. We would’ve heard that Gannon is out of it and McBeth won the tournament after the first hole

I agree, this live coverage team is my favorite. I usually watch live DGN coverage on mute, especially when it involves Terry "baaaaaaarely" Miller in any way. I also love Juliana's and Des's insightful, low-key, ego-less commentary.

Is Idlewild a “lefty” course?

There are a lot of holes where a left-to-right shot shape off the tee is preferable.

Really enjoyed the entire coverage, honestly.

All three voices were perfect complements to the action at Idlewild.

Smooth, knowledgeable, professional, experienced; you name it they got it this weekend.

Hell of a show.

Of all the combo's we've seen with people in studio and on the course.... This really felt like an all-star assembly.

That being said, the only one who rubs me wrong is Nate Doss. He just seems to condescending, like he's explaining the sport to a child that knows nothing about it.
