I made a 'conspiracy' hoodie inspired by Charlie Kelly

A think beige waffle knit base with various 'conspiracy' themed patches throughout with strings leading from one to another. A few of the strings end in a velcro patch that can literally be moved from one spot to another as you piece through the archival records and newspaper clippings to solve the conspiracy. Handdyed bandana sewn to the arms and then hit with a dremel to truly distress the heck out of it. Same for the pockets. One of the most fun projects id ever worked on. Whatcha think?

Tips to secure fabric paint on fabric thats not to be ironed

Hi all! Would love some tips on how to affix/secure fabric paint on fabric, thats is not supposed to be ironed. My problem is that the paint needs to be ironed to be washing machine safe, but the fabric I have is polyester and not supposed to be ironed. Is there any way I can secure the paint still? Thank you for your help ☺️

I made a garter belt for my leg warmers!

Excuse my typos/messy grammar in this video..it was a bit rushed

I made some leg warmers recently but when I wore them out they decided to keep slipping..which is odd because I walked around the house in them several times during the sewing process and they worked fine. But oh well, it gave me an excuse to make this cute garter belt. Basically any pair of underwear will work for this, you don’t even have to cut them up if you don’t want to. Just sew on the elastic latches to the underwear and the thigh highs you want to use and it’ll work wonders.

How can I make or commission a dark red Human Spider shirt?

The first and last image is a custom action figure I made. I did a dark and weathered version of the Human Spider shirt from the 2002 Spiderman movie.

I want to get a real version of it, but all of the ones on Etsy are bright red, I really want it a dark red, probably a bit darker than my figure too and consistent. Where it's just actually dark red fabric instead of weathered.

DIY Cardigan

It's a bit too warm where I live right now for these but still perfect for layering with something lighter under. I Love really baggy types of stuff so this cardigan has extra extra wide sleeves around the arms, super roomy and cozy I Love it. Purple is my favorite color 💜 this is made from crochet and I used like 9 different yarns

Is there any way to turn this back graphic into a front graphic?

On the website, it wasnt obvious that the graphic was on the back so I just naturally assumed it would be on the front like any other normal tshirt.

Turns out, its a back Design. I hate back designs.

I dont wanna refund or throw it away, since its really comfy and feels high quality

I was thinking maybe you could tighten the neck hole up on the front side and loosen it on the back with a cut

Advice for silk dress with snags

Hi! Some years ago I paid a lot of money for a very beautiful silk bias-cut dress in a midnight blue color. I wore it to a few weddings and events, and it held up for several years. This year I put it on to wear under a sweater and noticed that there was a very big snag right in front, below the waist and right in the middle (where the crotch on a pair of pants would be, basically). The material is also getting holes all along the seams of the dress. I probably did not take care of it well, I don’t own a lot of silk and didn’t know it gets holes so easily.

The material is so lovely I don’t want to just send it away to a clothes recycler. I’d love to be able to do something with it. I wish I could make it into a skirt, but the snag near the crotch area kind of ruins that. Any ideas would be very welcome. See photos below!

Is there anyway to dye a shirt by using a painting method?

I want to paint a big red heart on a white tee but I’m worried that the paint will ruin the texture and ‘flowyness’ of the shirt. Is there a type of dye that ends up being bold after a few layers that I could make and use a paintbrush to get the effect I want which is as if it was a print on the shirt?

One-of-a-kind sweaters I've made this summer ☀️

These are all made using only thrifted materials and 100% cotton (no polyester). I usually find something I like then use that as either a foundation to build off of or I'll trace it to use as a pattern if I plan on chopping it up like I've done with the patchwork sweaters shown in the last few pictures. Let me know what you think! Cheers.

How do I get rid of the AI image on my hoodie? :(

This hoodie was gifted to me by a friend. I've been wearing it a couple of times but I don't want to be a walking ad for AI 'art'. How do I take it off of the fabric and improve it?

Should I paint or bleach my hoodie?

It's 70% polyester and 30% cotton, I know you're not supposed to bleach paint on polyester, is there any chance it'll hold up or should I stick to fabric paint? If it'll just give a orange colour I'm fine with that, but if it'd fall apart then I won't risk it.

a while ago, i got this jacket and painted on it with bleach. i love it so much, but i accidentally washed it with a pack of gum and it started to mold before i could fix it. im thinking i cut off the arm and replace it from another jacket, probably green and ill just add green patches elsewhere. is there anything else i could do with it? or maybe a different color sleeve?

Ripped Jeans WIP (+advice)

Post image
2 Upvotes

So this is the first time that I have attempted to rip my own jeans, and I am running into some problems. I was able to rip the jeans just fine, but I noticed they were fraying, so I tried applying fabric glue to the ends of the jean rips to fix this.

Only issue is how the fabric glue dried makes wearing the jeans uncomfortable to where it is scratching/chafing up my skin a bit. I don't have much experience with sewing, and I'm not sure what to do now because I still like the jeans a lot, and I'm not sure what would be the best way to fix it aside from going in with acetone to remove the fabric glue. (which still leaves the jean fraying problem)

I would love to hear any suggestions since I am interested in DIYing more clothes in the future, as well as not making this mistake again

Dying shirts

Post image

Okay so I am planning on dying this shirt either black or dark brown but I was hoping to keep the images on it the same or just as a faded version of themselves. I was thinking I could maybe like write over the letters again with bleach to make it orangey red. I’ve never dyed anything before what should I do.
