Advice Allergy Olympics

Is it wrong that if I see a patient has more than 10 allergies I IMMEDIATELY assume she's (bc it's always a she) a psych case?

In 24 years I've never been wrong.

You'll never read this in a textbook but add it to your practice today and thank me later👍

Especially if they're insisting we take them to the restroom when they clearly don't have the strength to do that safely

I didn't realise this was a thing. I had a patient recently who was very unwell. His daughter said "Please can someone help my dad? He's in the bathroom." I asked the nurse. He turns round and goes "That patient?? No way, he doesn't leave the bed!" He was right, this man was bedbound. They had to hoist him back to bed. Sadly, the same thing happened the day of his passing. His daughter felt awful, poor soul.
