Just got my pathology back
Hello i am 24 with uterus cancer. I noticed the file from my hysterectomy in my patient portal. I put it into ChatGPT. It said stage 2 grade 3. I’m assuming that my doctor will speak to me about it during my post surgery check up. What are some things I should expect to hear? Has anyone who’s had a similar diagnosis been able to go without further treatment? Or should I expect to hear I need to do chemo or radiation

First, may I begin by stating that I’m sorry that at such a young age you’re finding yourself here with us. But, it is a great resource and encouragement!
I’m in the US and I saw 2 oncologists and 2 radiation oncologists. All of them based their treatment recommendations on the NCCN clinical guidelines for uterine cancer. Here’s the link: https://www.nccn.org/patients/guidelines/content/PDF/uterine-patient.pdf
I’d also encourage you to remain vigilant, asking questions and pushing for answers. I think most on this board would agree that you have to be your best advocate- don’t rely on the physicians. While most are well-intended, they are overloaded with patient loads and there maybe a tendency to not listen to you nor explain things in layman’s terms. Like someone else posted, take someone with you for your follow up appointment in a few weeks. The extra set of ears is helpful.

I can’t comment on your particular cancer but my oncology surgeon from NCI did not talk to me about treatment, that was my metastatic oncologist. It might vary, I wouldn’t be surprised if they focus only on the incision and recovery and let an oncologist take over with on going care, whatever that entails.

What did the report say about your lymph nodes?

Both say negative for malignancy. Only spread was to my cervix

did it indicate how deep the spread was into the cervix? also, is there any note of myometrial invasion and/or lvsi (none, focal, or substantial)? usually there's a letter for stage 2, like 2a, 2b 2c, do you see that anywhere?

Myometrial invasion 58 percent. Ivsi said negative. I do not see a letter for the stage

So many variables, including if a subtype, your overall health, how the cancer has moved/travele, etc. So many factors. Your stage and grade means you’ll most likely need further treatment. Grade 3 means the cancer has gone outside the uterus, but might be contained within the pelvic region. I’m sure you noticed all kinds of other confusing things in the file, so try and breathe and keep on top of getting seen. I was Grade 2 Stage 3C1.

Grade 3 is referring to the type of cell, (grade 1 tends to be slow growing, grade 3 is more aggressive and therefore more likely to spread more quickly). The Stage refers to soread-I believe stage 2 means it had spread to the cervix , but I’m unsure. There are other factors in pathology they consider as well. Have your questions prepared and written down, make a note of them anytime one pops into your head. And try to take someone with you if possible because they present a lot of info that can feel overwhelming as they discuss your treatment plan, so extra ears and a note taker are really beneficial. Good luck. XO

Okay. From my report it says endometrioid-type endometrial adenocarcinoma. My overall health is not bad. Besides my anemia and obesity. It has spread to my Cervical stroma. I will make sure to stay in top of things. Waiting on my next appointment almost 2 weeks post hysterectomy

The Grade relates to the type of cancer and how aggressive it is. Each Grade has subtypes that respond to different types of treatment. Grade 3 means you will need further treatment, but you’ll need your cancer team to work out what exactly will be best for you.
Grade 3 is scary - BUT I read here it responds well to treatment. (Mine did!)
Stage relates to how far it is spread. Some countries (incl. the US where I think you are) have changed the Staging numbers for some cancers, so again, you’ll have to wait, which is really hard. DON’T google. It honestly won’t help.
Treatments are horrible, it’s true, but you can do this - just get better from your hysterectomy. 🤗
