Lymphedema

Anyone deal with Lymphedema in the groin area after chemo/radiation? Any advice is VERY welcome - hate feeling turgid and alien in the remaining lady bits I have left

Yes. I finished radiation about a year ago. Long story short, I have lymphedema in the torso and both legs, worse on 1 side, and the pubic hair area. My radiologist referred to physical therapy to get lymphatic drainage massage. I also use compression clothing, and I have a compression pump. This is an everyday thing. There are a lot of good YouTube videos on how to give yourself the massage to start.

Please let your radiologist know ASAP. Lymphedema is incurable and it’s progressive without early intervention. I wish you well!

many thanks --- and that is scary. What compression clothing do you wear?

I have lymphedema of my left leg which started six weeks after radiation therapy to my pelvis for an endometrial cancer recurrence. I have a custom garment I wear during the day and another one I wear at night. It’s really annoying but is a little better after almost three years. Go to cancer lymphedema expert. Good luck. ❤️

that is a lot of compression - all the time. Appreciate the advice. I am getting a "suit" with a pump today - I am supposed to use it an hour a day. Waiting on the custom garments - in the mean time compression socks and spanz as long as I can tolerate them during the day.
