it's the fact that we separate species by superiority with words like "apex". it's our supremacy-addled view of the world, the fact that we think we have rightful claim over our very surroundings as given to us by God, the most supreme being of all. it's about to bite our whole collective ass off, and we will still ask ourselves "how can we be superior enough to survive this?". ego is entropy, we fight it with compassion.

I agree. Compassion, empathy, and love for the world are the paths to real-impact solutions. Cynicism does not beget solution-based thinking. And I understand the reflex to be angry and cynical, but the most effective sustainability solutions out there are found in loving the world, including humans.
