Every semester there will be a megathread for the people that are currently on Erasmus, internship or studying abroad in general.

You can post your comment like this:

  • Where are you on Erasmus (Country + City)

  • How is your experience so far?

  • How you found accommodation

  • Advice for future students in your country + city

Are you a student going on your erasmus in Spring 2026 or perhaps even Fall 2026? This thread might help you!

Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible. That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. Once again, none of the money goes to me it is the website's entire own policy and all the websites on this thread are used the most by locals and/or exchange students. This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

Rent tax in Italy

Upvotes

I really hope someone could tell me if that is normal. My landlord that I'm renting from just told me I have to make one-time payment for registration/taxes (he switches those terms). It's quite a sum, like 150 for 6 months. Did anybody else encounter similar situations?

2. Erasmussemester

I will start my second Erasmus stay in Toulouse in 2 weeks and I am afraid that it will not be as great as my semester abroad in my bachelors 3 years ago in Scotland. I am now almost finished with my masters and will spend the next 3 months in France. My first Erasmus semester was - like everybody say - such a special and unique time in my life. What made it so special were the girls I met there. We were a girls group of 5 and did it all together. From the first day on I wasn’t lonely because of them (I met them pretty early at the Erasmus activities) and I feel like it was such a special coincidence that this group was formed.(We are still friends and meet once a year)

I am afraid my second semester will be less special. Does anyone have experiences with their second stay abroad and how you experienced it compared to your first stay?

Should I cancel my erasmus stay - Need to decide until tomorrow 2pm

Hi everyone,

I am a student from Vienna, Austria and I have enrolled for an Erasmus stay in Switzerland starting in a week. My check-in at my student residence is tomorrow at 2 pm. Over the last few months I have gotten increasingly anxious about my Erasmus stay. It usually starts in the evening, when my mind has time to ruminate. In Vienna, I lived together with my girlfriend and I am also very anxious about being separated from her for such a long time and in general the idea of having a long-distance relationship worries as well. She totally supports me doing the exchange semester tough and I don't think there is a risk of one of us cheating. My biggest fear is that one of us changes to much that we are not compatible anymore. In general I am a relatively introverted person and it also freaks me out that I will have to live in a dorm, as I have never lived in a dorm before and I am a very noise sensitive person, especially when it comes sleeping. My motivation for enrolling for this Erasmus stay in the first place was my fascination for Switzerland, especially the landscape and the mountains.

The contract for the dorm needs to last at least 5 months and I cannot cancel it any time before that, which is why I need to decide whether I really want to do this Erasmus semester until tomorrow. I am unsure whether I have just gotten cold feet or made a big mistake. At this point, I am mostly thinking about how I can basically go to Vienna as often as possible. I feel just so anxious and overwhelmed by this decision, so any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much in advance!
EDIT: Lately I have been very anxious in general and also had occasional panic attacks (idk if this is solely related to the Erasmus semester, but it kinda fits the time frame)

Got my visa type-D rejected

Hello everyone, I applied for the polish visa type-d to do my erasmus program in poland AGH university. And it got rejected and the reason for rejection is suspecting that I am not going to Poland to study. Although I have almost provided all the needed documents even flight tickets, bank statements, acceptance letter everything was there and I still got rejected, Do you think if I applied for reconsideration there is hope of getting it and btw my passport is iraqi. And tips if you have as well would be appreciated.

Hi Everyone, I'm a med student from Pakistan, currently awaiting my bachelor's degree in medicine and surgery. I'm really passionate about Public Health, specifically Biostatistics and would love to apply to europubhealth unis via the Erasmus program but don't have the slightest of ideas on how to proceed.

If someone can share a step-by-step guide for the Ireland, spain/poland pathway. I'd be eternally grateful. 🙂

Erasmus Mundus Need help with intro paragraph of motiv letter

I've gotten conflicting advice from here, yt, friends and scholarship guidance websites about how to start a letter of motivation. Some say I should introduce myself right away with my name, education, and purpose (writing to apply to program name) while others suggest jumping straight into a story or personal anecdote. Does it really matter which approach I take?

Are students with a Finance background eligible for the Erasmus Mundus MATHS-DISC program?

I am a Finance major with a CGPA of 3.68 and I am very interested in pursuing the Erasmus Mundus MATHS-DISC program. Could you please clarify whether students from a Finance background are eligible for admission, and if so, what steps I can take to strengthen my application (such as GMAT,Research etc)?During my BBA course I have taken some math courses and I got 92+. If finance majors are not typically considered, could you suggest alternative Erasmus Mundus or European master’s programs that focus on quantitative finance or related mathematical fields?”

I have a 3.58 cgpa from a not so well known university. I have 3 currently published papers one of which is in an IF journal. 1 paper is submitted and accepted for publication but is not currently on the website. And i have two papers in line for submission. Should i put them in my CV if they have just been submitted and not published yet? They are all in one way or other relevant to the programme. I have 1 book chapter in Nature but it’s not relevant to the programme i am applying to(should i put it in my CV?). I have extra curricular activities as well which are not relevant to the programme like scout activities etc ( should i put them on my CV?) i have attended a relevant conference as well and have 3 internship experiences i have linked them with programme somehow…. I have a 7.5 ielts score as well…. Is my cv strong enough? Can someone help me with my motivation letter?

Erasmus+ semester(s) abroad help me choose my erasmus destination

Hi everyone! 👋 I’m planning to go on Erasmus next year and I’d love to hear some advice or personal experiences to help me decide where to go.

The options I have are: • Bulgaria • Croatia • France • Greece • Poland • Portugal • Czech Republic • Romania • Slovakia • Spain • Hungary

My field of study is Business Administration, so I’m also interested in how good the universities are in this area, apart from student life, cost of living, cultural vibe, and how easy it is to travel around.

If you’ve been on Erasmus (or studied/lived) in one of these countries, I’d really appreciate your insights!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Erasmus+ Internship looking for advice for erasmus internships

I got my mind onto an erasmus internship in Spain. I am starting my last year of a sociology bachelor degree in Italy, and I have been wanting to go live abroad, get working experience and learn a whole new language, and I think an erasmus internship might be the perfect way to do all this. I would like to go either immediately before or immediately after my graduation, so between july 2026 and april 2027 I guess. But I am very intimidated by the application process, how do I find interesting internship or businesses I would like to partner with, and apply, and get accepted? Like it seems so much I don't even know where to start looking for opportunities. I am looking for advice for handling the process and even some reccomendations if you happen to know about social innovation and/or research in the spanish major cities. Thank you so much if anyone is able to help. I really want to do this but it's so overwhelming.

Erasmus Mundus Looking for advice on applying to Erasmus Mundus Master’s programs

Hi everyone,

In the near future I’d like to apply for a Master’s program through Erasmus Mundus. My academic background is in Physiotherapy, and I’m especially passionate about sports, neuroscience, and orthopedics.

I’d love to hear from people who already went through the Erasmus process (or are currently in it):

  • What tips would you give someone preparing to apply?
  • What do you think really makes a candidate stand out?
  • Are there any online courses (from reputable universities, preferably) that you’d recommend for someone in my field, to strengthen my application and knowledge base?
  • Are there specific Erasmus Mundus programs you’d recommend for someone with my background and interests?

Any advice, personal experiences, or course suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Erasmus Mundus Any law students in erasmus ??

I'm thinking of creating a group for law students who wish to apply to erasmus scholarship, and those who already got it, as it'll get very easy for us.

So hit me up if you're preparing for it and let me know. And spread the word.

Feedback on my profile for Erasmus Mundus & MSc applications (Sustainability & Innovation)

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to apply for Erasmus Mundus (Track C – Sustainable Business Development) and also for an MSc in Sustainability and Innovation Management for the September 2026 intake (application window: Oct 2025 – Jan 2026). I’d love to hear from the community on where I could improve my profile before applications open.

My Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business & Trade (graduated in Taiwan)
  • GWA: 94.19%, which I think translates to roughly 3.8–3.9/4.0 GPA on the EU/US scale
  • Languages: English (fluent), basic Mandarin (enrolled in a course to improve my level), and currently studying Spanish (self-taught)

Internship Experience

Empire State Development Taiwan (Dec 2024 – Apr 2025)

  • Supported cross-border business development, research, and partnership building
  • Managed LinkedIn strategy for outreach
  • Assisted in organizing and participating in international events

Events Attended Through Internship

  • Dec 2024 – NASME Medical Tech Event
  • Feb 2025 – TCA’s Rockin’ Vest Night
  • Mar 2025 – Tech Gold and Friends Social
  • Mar 2025 – Asia Connect Forum: The Age of Digital Convergence
  • Mar 2025 – Empire Investment Forum at NTU (organized by AIM Ventures, FCC Partners Asia, NTU OIA, Empire State Development, TCA, Startup Island Taiwan)

Thesis

  • Graduation thesis: The Ethical Implications of AI in the context of Academia in Taiwan

Other Experiences

  • Hult Prize 2023 participant (worked on social entrepreneurship project with international teammates)
  • Freelance creative projects: children’s book illustrations, social media content, and copywriting
  • Certifications: Google Ads

Skills

Hard Skills: Market research, project management, business development, copywriting, social media strategy, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, SEO basics
Soft Skills: Cross-cultural teamwork, adaptability, creativity, problem-solving, communication, academic writing/presentation

My Questions to the Community

  1. Do you think my academic and internship background is competitive for Erasmus Mundus and MSc programs in sustainability/innovation?
  2. Should I focus more on gaining additional work experience before applying, or is my current mix of academics + internship + freelance work enough?
  3. Would you recommend publishing articles or research (even if just medium-level, not peer-reviewed) to strengthen my application?
  4. For the Erasmus Mundus SOP, what’s the best way to balance professional experience with personal motivation?

I’d appreciate any honest feedback, especially from people who’ve gotten into Erasmus Mundus or similar programs. Thanks!

Erasmus Mundus Seeking Advice about Erasmus admission in MSCS.

Hey guys,
I am here seeking advice from you, who are the Gods (Got selected) of the Erasmus Mundus MS scholarship program. I want to apply for it this year. I have a few questions related to it.

What things that make my CV stand out? How to score more points while applying? Everything that you have done to get an Erasmus scholarship, specifically the students who are in tech.

For context:
I have got a fully funded MS scholarship in MBZUAI, but due to some visa issues, I could not make that.

Your suggestions are welcome.
Regards

hellooo I'm looking for testimonials from people who have stayed at the faculty of Las Palmas in the Canaries just to get some feedback. I plan to spend a semester there with Erasmus. I'm looking for: meetings, parties, festivities, surfing, not too complicated learning, shared accommodation with several origins, multiculturalism. It's up to you to break or comfort me in my dreams... 🤗

Rant Save me from my dad

Okay so I'm a 4th year law student who came across this scholarship program. I'm panicking because my father said you have only one year to land jobs or crack scholarships or whatever, he basically gave a 1 year after graduation and said after that he will get me married(God forbid) but yeah. I'm scared because I have to save my life in just 1 year. And this scholarship is where my interest is right now, but the sad part is, I'm not well versed with the requirements, what exactly do I need to do to be able to bag this scholarship. How should I stand out, in such a short period of time. Because once I land this and get my own money, he won't be able to do anything.

So I desparately need your help guys.
