What part of "I’d have been happier with something approaching a 2/3 majority" doesn't mean 66%.

What part of "Such a consequential decision shouldn’t have been made by less than 50% of the actual population." doesn't mean 50% of the entire nation?

"I’d have been happier with something approaching a 2/3 majority"

The result. They were talking about the voting result. How do you take it for 66% of the entire population?

Edit:

"Such a consequential decision shouldn’t have been made by less than 50% of the actual population."

I just took that as opinion, and seperate from the preceding.

I never talked about 66% of the entire population.

I've been saying that their opinion about "50% of the actual population" being required for a "consequential decision" is too high of a bar.
