The Crown Estate is irrelevant to the conversation. It belongs to the Crown (ie. the legal entity that is the state) and isn't the property of the ruling dynasty. If the UK abolished the monarchy then the Royals wouldn't retain ownership of it, the state would keep it and its profits.
