About vagina. Read it slowly again. You cannot be president on our country because we don't have one. No vagina. If the dream is to be King of Denmark, then yes, vagina.

And regarding principle, all polls show, that if we had to vote about it, people will choose to remain a constitutional monarchy, because it is a huge part of our identity as a country.

Maybe you should try reading slower too? Obviously in a monarchy the head of the government is the monarch. You cannot become head of government of Denmark, even though there is one person who fulfills that role for Denmark.

Happy now?

And regarding principle, all polls show, that if we had to vote about it, people will choose to remain a constitutional monarchy, because it is a huge part of our identity as a country.

And? Tradition is peer pressure from the dead.

That many people would like to keep things as they are, doesn't magically make monarchy not fundamentally wrong as a concept.

No matter how hard you try, monarchy as an idea or concept is indefensible. It does not matter how cerimonial it is, how powerless it is, how innocuous it is, or how good the monarchs themselves are. It remains fundamentally wrong as an idea.

ok. you don't like monarchy. I like my country and my history. I don't like you hating on us. But my country is rated very high on every parameter from social mobility to corruption. So. You just keep hating us, we will manage.

Just to be clear, of course I don't hate you, nor anyone who lives in a monarchy.

I myself live and have lived in countries who have monarchies. I am an avid collector of Lego! Without them the world would be a sadder place. I don't even hate apologists of the monarchy. I only disapprove of their opinions, and remain hopeful that one day they will realise it too.

Your country is a nice place to live, but would undoubtedly continue to be so even when one day it will eventually became a Republic.

Barf. How condescending... "I don't even hate apologists of the monarchy. I only disapprove of their opinions, and remain hopeful that one day they will realise it too."

Oh you are the only one right. Oh yes. You are so right. I am such a suppressed person. Thank you for telling me. Thank you. "uh that person likes lego, oh that makes me so happy"

Sorry bro, I am a 50 year old educated person, I am Super left leaning, the happy-lego-hygge does not bite on me, neither does manipulation.

But good for you that you do not live in a suppressed country like Denmark. We are so sad and poor and we have no rights. I suppose it is much better in your country, you all have better opportunities than we do, you can dream of being president, how great is that. I am sure you have more money, have better educations, have a lot of power. Yay.

Is the monarchy your entire personality? Why are you putting words in my mouth? I never said Denmark is oppressed. I never said you are sad and poor and that you have no rights.

I have only ever said that the concept of the monarchy is wrong. It is wrong whether we are talking about the monarchy in Denmark or whether we talk about the one in Cambodia. It doesn't matter how successful the country is. For the n-th time, the concept of hereditary positions is universally wrong, as a matter of principle. No amount of whining on reddit will ever change that.

I even said I myself live in a country where there is a monarchy and I am also left leaning. But don't you realise your cognitive dissonance? How can you be left leaning, SUPER left leaning, and be pro-monarchy? Supporting the monarchy harms the class struggle, comrade! Don't you realise that? /s

I am sure you have more money, have better educations, have a lot of power. Yay.

Why do you have to go there, with these not so hidden racist remarks? I am a university professor. Do you want to compare net worth? My or your success or education has no relation to whether my or your country is a republic or monarchy.

Racist? How on earth was that racist? "You" was a general you, not you as a person. I don't know anything about you or where you are from. I just don't see how a president should make everybody living better lives.

I am not for monarchy in all countries, I am just saying, that if it works in some countries, like mine, it should be recognised. I feel it is more safe than risking a president that might be corrupt, like in US, or that we get interference from outside, in our election, as we see in many countries these days. A president is a political person, and I prefer that the head of state is just a representative, not a political figure, who is supporting one side of the political spectre.

It works in Denmark, as I see it, the only "suppressed" people are the royal family, as they have to stay on the path all the time, and they only exist as long as they are supported. They are the ones without freedom, and they know. I am very aware that the party I vote for is against the royal family, as a concept. But as long as our royal family keeps a clean path, and represent us well, it kinda feels ok. Our country is oddly flat in hierarchy, compared to a lot of other countries, and our political environment is more relaxed than other places, too. I don't think a political competition for president would improve that, in todays global situation.
