How the hell Romania is hotter than Italy

67

u/saracuratsiprost Jun 26 '25

Wait for it

48

u/angora_cat44 Jun 26 '25

Right, seems like it's coming here in Italy too, though we are still at 35 C today

25

u/saracuratsiprost Jun 26 '25

All the way to NL next week 34/35

2

u/Jlx_27 The Netherlands Jun 26 '25

NL will only get two days of 30+ though. We're a bit lucky this year so far.

3

u/saracuratsiprost Jun 26 '25

You mean next week, because 30+ was also this past weekend. At least in Brabant.

1

u/Jlx_27 The Netherlands Jun 26 '25

Yes, you spoke about next week's weather. And last week was the same set up temps wise.

1

u/saracuratsiprost Jun 26 '25

Ok. Btw, getting like this in NL gives me anxiety.

3

u/Jlx_27 The Netherlands Jun 26 '25

Dont let it get to you too much, if need be, talk to someone.

Germany too, but only from Monday to Wednesday 32, 35, 32 at my place. But if it's high humidity...

u/trollsmurf Jun 26 '25

"Something something political"?

u/Maximum-Law-9951 Jun 26 '25

continental vs sea moderated climate

Romania is hotter than most of Italy in summer

2

u/angora_cat44 Jun 26 '25

We have high humidity though, this means that we feel hotter.

3

u/LonelyConnection503 Jun 26 '25

Being next to the Black Sea doesn't really help with the humidity either.

2

u/Maximum-Law-9951 Jun 26 '25

well, we have high humidity too, for ex. in Bucharest is 37 with real feel 40

4

u/tin99999 Jun 26 '25

You've got the Mediterranean to temper your summers, no such luck here

2

u/GeriToni Jun 26 '25

I think in Italy the weather just feels hotter because of the humidity. I spent summers in Italy by the sea and most of the days were 33-35 Celsius degrees.

1

u/angora_cat44 Jun 27 '25

An they felt like 42 degrees I guess

1

u/GeriToni Jun 27 '25

Yes, it felt uncomfortable at times so I had to go for a swim, luckily I was near the sea.

2

u/Draig_werdd Romania Jun 26 '25

Bucharest is on the same latitude as Bologna and they both seem to have the same temperatures now

0

u/angora_cat44 Jun 27 '25

Bologna is so cold during winter and so hot during summer that any Bolognese will tell you they hate their city climate.

2

u/Draig_werdd Romania Jun 27 '25

It's the same climate in Bucharest

Heat bubble. A few days ago New England, New York and New Jersey were the hottest places in the US. It was cooler in Miami and Death Valley in California.

1

u/angora_cat44 Jun 27 '25

Seems like it comes here in Italy too

1

u/TakeMeToJacob Jun 26 '25

Probably because Italy is a peninsula, while balkans is surrounded by mountains ( I'm guessing, who knows). It gets frickin cold in central balkans aswell (I remember when in Slovenia it was -10, in Bosnia was -20)

1

u/Randomized9442 Jun 26 '25

Not surrounded on 3 sides by sea?

1

u/Lazy-Relationship-34 Romania Jun 26 '25

Oh, stop it you! 👉👈

23

u/ViscountBuggus Bulgaria Jun 26 '25

We are simply not going to survive July

13

u/JoshTheRussian Romania Jun 26 '25

At this rate, absolutely not.

3

u/Own-Ranger-8791 Jun 26 '25

Don’t give up guys you can do it ( says the Moroccan who spends summer in the Sahara desert) still I believe in you luvs

4

u/microgirlActual Ireland Jun 26 '25

Sahara is a lot more arid than the green, hilly regions of Central Europe though. 40-45C in 10% humidity or less is much more bearable than 35-40C in 40% humidity.

1

u/Own-Ranger-8791 Jun 27 '25

Yeah understandable, the humidity plays a big role in making it unbearable. But In the Sahara desert it reaches 47 to 52 degrees many times. That’s another big no

You want deporting? It's only the AC, that's a bit drastic?

/s

8

u/atpplk Jun 26 '25

You know we have those temps without AC in most parts of Europe :D So you're training for european summer

3

u/oirdana Jun 26 '25

You guys could just buy ACs like civilized people do, but you chose not to - this comes from an expat. I dread going back home on vacation, particularly because of that.

-3

u/WhiteHelix Jun 26 '25

Talking about civilized and using Trumpistan as example…I don’t know man

3

u/oirdana Jun 26 '25

I'm a snow Mexican as they call us, nothing to do with trumpistant my friend

0

u/WhiteHelix Jun 26 '25

Pls elaborate

3

u/oirdana Jun 26 '25

It's a joke here in Canada since trump returned to power. The joke is that we are all Mexicans to him. Some from the south, others from the north.

0

u/WhiteHelix Jun 26 '25

Ooooh, makes complete sense. Now I feel bad, sorry

1

u/kroketspeciaal Jun 27 '25

Sending heartfelt cold thoughts.

3

u/Humorpalanta Jun 26 '25

Budapest 37 degrees. You win, but at what cost? ;)

3

u/actionalex85 Jun 26 '25

Dömsöd, outside Budapest, we have 37 degrees. I wasn't ready 🫠

2

u/alternospherically Jun 26 '25

just got home from a grocery trip... i only spent 10 minutes outside overall and i feel dead already

2

u/oojiflip Jun 26 '25

I'd be actively searching for the nearest pub with good AC lol

1

u/PantalonFinance Jun 26 '25

Holy shit! Glad I'm not home, though in Turkey is also very hot (35 degrees). At least there is Sea.

1

u/Sturm13 Jun 26 '25

It is so damn hot here. After a few hours outside, we need the rest of the day to acclimate.

1

u/Yonutz33 Jun 26 '25

Depends on which part of the city you're in. Where i'm at, right now it's 35C (real feel 36C). But yeah, since last year we get close to 40C for about 1 month....

1

u/pannenkoek0923 Denmark Jun 26 '25

Was 12 and thunderstorms here lol

1

u/anuthertw Jun 26 '25

Here its 29 and realfeel 36. Youre literally notably hotter than Texas right now. I am so sorry. (yeah I had to google the conversion lol).

1

u/gprime312 Jun 27 '25

Don't you have AC?

1

u/JoshTheRussian Romania Jun 27 '25

No. But even if I had, I still have to leave my home.

1

u/gprime312 Jun 27 '25

Don't commercial buildings have AC?
