My friend was in Portugal and Spain for a week this June (she came back a few days ago). She told me that Portugal was hotter than Spain. Is it actually that hot?

Yes. But give it a month and it'll be worse both in Spain and Portugal don't worry

There have been some cool days here as well though. It's been a bit inconsistent.

You know I'm in America, the same latitude as Madrid and we've experienced the same. Yesterday it was around 38° c and today it is 17. Do you experience the same drastic temperature jumps?

I wouldn't say there were quite as drastic. The shift was slightly more gradual too. But there have been very hot days as well as cool days. It even rained, which is uncommon for this time of year.

It depends, if you talk about Sevilla it's probably hotter than any Portuguese city. Same in portugal, the further you go inland the hotter it is, and it can be quite hot.
