Oh, goodness! I am going to visit Lyon and Marseille later this summer (mid August), am I going to melt or is there some hope for me? Also [OT content]: I am a little bit scared cause I don't speak French, am I going to be hated by all the population over there?

Enjoy your visit to our former capital of Gaulle (Lyon), Marseille, you will have the Calanques (small crypts by the sea) to cool off. In Lyon, many people speak English and many museums offer audio guides in several languages. For the heat unfortunately no

Thank you for your kind reply! I will equip a few small portable fans to bring with me during the daytime, then! :) I can't wait to visit your beautiful city!

On the other hand, I don't recommend Marseille unless you only stay 1 day, but more Nîmes or Nice

Why not? Is there any danger or "bad" districts you think I should avoid? I already booked for a few days (2 or 3 days more or less).

Already yes there are quite a few unsafe neighborhoods (13,14,15,16 and 3rd districts are to be avoided) but also beautiful neighborhoods (old port and everything), the Marseilles likes to party but he is hot-blooded so it can go away quickly. The city is very dirty (more than the others in France) because yes, unfortunately we French do not respect our cities with our trash.

Thank you for your advice! About not respecting our cities, nothing new here in Italy, we are in the same boat! So I'm sadly used to this! Thank you again for your precious sharings! :)
