Serbia is currently experiencing protest and clashes against the government and its police forces.

This thread is to gather all the single pieces of media, pictures and videos.

However every main event and news in the form of link will deserve its own topic.

It’s not much (and it’s in English, so feel free to translate and edit as required) but here is an example letter/email that can be sent to an MEP or other European politician. The EU’s continued support of Vučić hurts the very people who are protesting. The least we can do is expect better of the EU and Europe as a whole.

*Dear [MEP Name],

I am writing to you to register my concerns regarding the recent developments in the Republic of Serbia. As you may be aware, for the past several months there have been ongoing protests in Serbia against government corruption, media suppression, and democratic erosion. These protests, which have been peaceful and in defence of fundamental European rights, have been met with violence and repression, raising serious concerns about the state of democracy and human rights in a nation that remains a candidate for EU membership.

There are upwards of two million people of Serbian heritage in Europe outside of the Republic of Serbia and many of these people maintain strong familial and cultural ties to Serbia and look on these developments with growing sadness and concern. Furthermore, many more people in Europe are becoming disturbed by the increasingly authoritarian conduct of the administration of President Aleksandar Vučić. The European Union has long stood as a defender of democratic values, civil liberties, and the rule of law, and I believe it is imperative that the EU remains united and steadfast in the safeguarding of these principles.

I therefore, as a citizen of Europe, implore you to bring this matter to light and to condemn the undemocratic actions of the Serbian government committed against its people. I urge you to advocate clear and public accountability regarding police conduct and media freedom in the Republic of Serbia and demand stronger democratic standards from the Serbian government. The people of Serbia deserve an open, fair, and democratic society and the EU has a responsibility to stand with them. I am sure you will agree that it is of the utmost importance that the policies of the EU reflect a serious desire to uphold our shared European values.

Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Yours sincerely, [Name] [Address] [Contact Details]*

No. Don't fucking do that. Please, stop involving the fascist EU politicians in this struggle. This is a people's struggle, we don't need any more puppets.

I think the EU will end up doing sweet f*ck all but the least we can do is remind them that they’re going against everything they claim to stand for by supporting the regime. I agree though that the Serbian people should have their destiny in their own hands. The government has taken things to the point where drastic measures will be required. Only the students and protesters can do that and I will be happy the day Vučić and SNS are hounded out of the country.

I'm looking forward to those drastic measures and I hope kids don't make the same mistake we did after October 5th.
