For anyone wondering how the EU might help in this situation - place vučić and his cronies under individual sanctions, freeze their assets abroad. And stop clapping him on the back. Being deeply concerned is not going to help, time to take some real action.

Frankly, I'm not sure if sanctions would help here. It would fuel the line of defense that the protest are somehow arranged from outside. The good thing about not reacting is that it's very clear this is a Serbian issue. And freezing foreign assets wouldn't immediately hurt them but might make them more desperate to stay in power instead of just fleeing somewhere else.

On the other hand, fuck them.

They are planning to flee anyway. EU should step up and show some solidarity if they so badly want us to be a part of EU, unless....

Also, by freezing politician's assets, they would be sending a sign to the people of Serbia that the bastion of democracy (EU) defends and preserves democratic values and principles, often seen as a crucial stronghold against threats to democracy.

Vučić as a deranged dictator president, is that threat.
