All she knew was war. That’s so tragic.

2.8k

u/Not_Bee_Si 1d ago

Also Tragic that we, Ukrainians, are blamed for defending our children from the Russian terrorist regime…

Ukrainians criticised for not giving up the hope of being a free nation

For having the courage to request military aid, which is the only way to stop Russian aggression…

That's so tragic! Everyone is a peacemaker - and we - Ukrainians are “war gold diggers “

We are still standing but thanks to the peacemaker I don't know for how long

u/DogsReadingBooks Norway 1d ago

It’s actually wild. I don’t understand the people behaving like that. I doubt they would have liked so much to have their land taken away.

u/Not_Bee_Si 1d ago

greed + Russian propaganda = trump mindsets

u/Graph1te05 1d ago

So basically Hungary

-4

u/RustySpoonyBard 13h ago

NATO expansion seems the obvious reason for the war, given them looking to give Ukraine NATO+ membership.  The question I have is why China and Russia are so against NATO expansion.

They want to believe the narratives that the USA is the sole source of all the world's problem, so if they are helping Ukraine, Ukraine must be the bad guys.

26

u/Signal-Initial-7841 Canada 1d ago

Loads of anti Ukrainian settlement are because of the believe of “USA Bad, USA supports Ukraine, Ukraine Bad”

Russia's betting on the fear that if they lose the war, they'll start throwing nukes. Obviously, they're lying, but it's an effective one

19

u/Super-Cynical 1d ago

They are also full of lies, like saying that the country is run by Nazis.

18

u/nynorskblirblokkert 1d ago

The idea of them seeing themselves as liberators is already hilarious. They literally kill the opposition, kill journalists, kill dissidents, and are probably one of the most corrupt countries on the planet. But they need to liberate their neighbors, clearly.

1

u/simion314 Romania 17h ago

They and their fans in Europe actually view those crimes and claim they are Christian, "not a sin to kill traitors, said to me a christian-fascist"

2

u/CardOk755 France 1d ago

But Russia is run by Nazis.

1

u/Super-Cynical 1d ago

But if that was the case that would be said by people in Russia, other than those few who had terrible accidents

Good people of the world know the truth, and no amount of propaganda will overwrite the reality that Russia is a murderous terrorist state. I am truly sorry for what your people have endured and continue to endure - physically, emotionally and psychologically. They (Russia and their actors) want to crush our hopes and make us believe we're living in the Twilight Zone where up is down, left is right, war is peace, etc... they want to psychologically break people around the world and demoralize us and make us think there is no justice or morality or guiding light.

They are wrong and Ukraine stands as a beacon against this insidious, wretched virus. We in Canada support you, your sovereignty, and your righteous fight against these absolute monsters. Stay strong. You are just. Slava Ukraini!

37

u/Cold-Bobcat-4448 1d ago

I’m in the USA and I actually have a friend that left here and is over there fighting with Ukraine. He went shortly after Russia started the war. He has told me some really sad stories. He has seen the worst of humanity, but he’s also seen some of the best of humanity, meaning Ukrainians helping each other.

Yeah, but a different monster, doing different things.

You're not gonna shame me into a "it's all the same" nonsense. It's not. Things matter. Things happen. Politics changes.

And I think you should be easily able to understand I'm talking about fascism and whether or not they still have a democracy.

14

u/manateeshmanatee 1d ago

This one too. I don’t know how anyone could see the war as anything but Russian aggression. The propaganda painting it as somehow being Ukraine’s fault disgusts me.

10

u/TwentyninthDigitOfPi United States of America 1d ago

Yes, though it's sadly not too surprising that our rapist of a president would take an "it would all be over if you just let him take what he wants" stance.

6

u/manateeshmanatee 1d ago

Agreed. But it’s even worse than that. That pathetic shriveled orange fascist fuckwit looks up to Putin. He wants to be him. I’m honestly surprised he hasn’t totally turned on Ukraine. I fucking hate this country right now. It’s never been what we’ve tried to sell it as, but my god does the state it’s in now make me miss the “good old days” of the 90s.

3

u/TwentyninthDigitOfPi United States of America 1d ago

Heck, I'd settle for the "good" old days of the Bush years at this point, and that's saying something.

2

u/manateeshmanatee 1d ago

I’m not willing to lower my standards that much. People just forget all the harm he did because he was personable and he knew how to duck, but he was a scumbag too, and without him we never would have gotten to where we are right now. I will never ever get over what the courts did to Gore. And by extension, to not only the US, but the whole world.

33

The war was completely unnecessary. And the Russians can leave at any time.

No one sane would blame Ukraine.

Your country have up nuclear arms in exchange for a rock solid promise of protection. The US is traitorous towards you because of the orange Nazi, resist, felon in the White House.

4

u/Ok-Perception-3129 1d ago

As much as I hate Trump I don't think you can put this solely on him. Ukraine have been let down by Obama when Crimea was taken, and then subsequently by Biden and Trump.

4

u/Pure_Complaint_7900 1d ago

Yea Obama really screwed the handling of Crimea, that said this current situation rests solely on DJT.

Biden pushed for much aid and support, to the point where it was a line of attacks made by Russian supported republican propaganda to make it a weakness for Bidens/Democrats campaigns.

2

u/KamelRedz0r 1d ago

have up nuclear arms in exchange for a rock solid promise of protection

Wrong. They gave up the nukes for money (which was paid) and a promise that the US, UK, and Russia will recognize the sovereignty of Ukraine, it's borders, and not interfere with their politics. There is ZERO wordage about a defense pact.

The Obama administration in 2013 already said the document was not legally binding (because it actually isn't...at all) when they sanctioned Belarus so yeah...

That's a bit harsh. Balticum, Poland, and Scandinavian are 100 behind you with money and weapons. Unfortunately we are rather small countries, it would be nice if some of the bigger ones also stepped up.

50

17

u/arrig-ananas 1d ago

I totally get she is pissed that most European countries aren't truly backing Ukraine's fight for freedom.
When you see contributions like €39 from Ireland or €29 from Italy, it's honestly embarrassing.
Especially when the Baltic countries — Small economies with low-income populations — are giving €600 to €900 per person, and Norway tops the list with around €1,200 per citizen.

So gratitude towards those who help and shame towards those who don't.

1

u/Tkemalediction 1d ago

Except for the Israel-Palestine conflict, which has been adopted as a pet conflict by a lot of people since the 60s, usually the farther a country from a conflict, the less involved its people feel. I don’t think Baltic countries care much for conflicts ravaging some African countries. I am not saying it is right, just understandable.

24

u/Not_Bee_Si 1d ago

we are immensely grateful for that, honestly - I don't know what we would do without you

Russia is a big monster and, as you said, we need bigger guys in our team

18

u/Suitable_Fix4761 1d ago

As a German I’m very grateful that our government supports your country, but on the other hand there is MUCH more we should do. Too much hesitation in delivering weapons for no reason. And too many people in Germany are still too friendly with Russia and don’t see that these are our enemies, too. Really pisses me off TBH

-4

u/Alternative_Tap_2642 1d ago

Listen, the military are howling, we are bad. Why such bias? I don't mind communicating with Ukrainians on social networks. I have Ukrainian friends, but when a person openly claims that all the Russian people are terrible, it's offensive

5

u/MinceMeat9821 1d ago

According to independent sources that poll in Russia 60-70 % of the population still support this war. They basically support killing their neighbours so as the "russian world" continues expanding. Fuck them.

I understand there are 1/3 rd of people there who condemns this. Lets hope that after russia collapses that those people can grab power there. But I have my doubts.

3

u/Suitable_Fix4761 1d ago

Nobody claims that. But it is your state, your army, your government. And all Russian people that are quiet and don’t stand up are also part of it, even if the vast majority of them may be nice people and don’t support the war particularly

2

u/IlikeribbsMhmmm 1d ago

-1

u/Street-Fly6592 1d ago

Russia produces 4 times as much munitions as every NATO country combined. It’s not a matter of more countries helping. There needs to be a negotiation for a ceasefire. This war was never going to be won with conventional means.

1

u/GreenEyeOfADemon 🇮🇹 - EUROPE ENDS IN LUHANSK! 🇺🇦 Слава Україні!🇺🇦 1d ago

“In terms of ammunition, Russia produces in three months what the whole of NATO produces in a year,” Rutte said on 10 June, adding that Putin’s war machine is “speeding up, not slowing down".

The European Commission has set a target to ramp up ammunition production to 2 million rounds per year in 2025, while the US is looking to hit a new target of 100,000 rounds per month by October.

Other allies, including Norway, the United Kingdom and Canada, are also looking to boost supply chains.

1

u/Street-Fly6592 1d ago

Right, so I’m not sure why I’m getting downvoted for stating a fact.

2

u/fretkat The Netherlands 1d ago edited 1d ago

To be honest with you; it is just the USA and Hungary with these opinions. Europe as a whole is behind you. The reason why European leaders are not screaming as hard as Trump is that Trump has the mental capacity of a toddler. And nobody wants to ruin any of the help you can get. Instead of looking at sensational headlines from the Trump circus, you have to look at all the local initiatives from European communities to understand how we look at your situation. I know 5 separate people who went to Ukraine with a truck for aid. I don't know any charity's purpose with more support than the aid for Ukraine’s sovereignty against the Russian invasion.

2

u/RubyWubs 1d ago

Who labels Ukranians as that? They where attacked first, thus they are the victims.

2

u/Stratix 1d ago

I have to assume it's trolls saying this, because all I hear is support for the Ukrainian people where I live. Any time a special operation blows up something big we cheer for you.

I do feel a bit sad for all the Russian lives lost at the whims of greedy men and all the lies and propaganda they tell, but that is just a symptom of this messy world we live in.

1

u/IlikeribbsMhmmm 1d ago

That's what happens when all you know is eating croissants, looking at the tour Eiffel... I think what's happening in Ukraine is just a sneak peek of what's going to be tormenting west Europe in the next decades

1

u/GnomePenises 1d ago edited 1d ago

A great majority of Americans support Ukraine. I do vehemently. I volunteered in 2021 and was turned down by the consulate.

It was after some of the early, untrained Western volunteers got killed in a rocket attack because they were using their cell phones near the front like morons. They said they only wanted guys with infantry experience. I was a Marine Corps Tank Commander and was thus denied. The frustration when Ukraine started fielding the Abrams… I always wanted a combat tank deployment.

1

u/Temouloun 1d ago

Just know that many of us random citizens of many western nations are hoping for full scale aid to Ukraine, including boots on the ground.

1

u/Final_TV 1d ago

people actually think this? here in america anyone with common sense realizes russia is the prob here

1

u/Ares__ 1d ago

As an American it pisses me off that any American doesnt stand with you all and want to send you all the help you need. Its the right thing to do, and those "Americans" that don't think its their war fail to realize even on the most bass level we as a nation wouldnt be a thing without France helping us beat thr British.

1

u/Cashope 1d ago

Well said.

For what it’s worth, as an American I am rooting for Ukraine and in these shit times I find myself inspired by Ukrainians who refuse to give up and hand over their country. Wish I could do more.

1

u/oblivion-boi 1d ago

The world is a very frustrating place. The fact that even anyone is stupid enough to imply that Ukraine is at fault here, for any of this, is completely insane.

1

u/dualwieldingcats 1d ago

To be fair the only people blaming ukraine are nutjobs or rightwingers. Normal people know that Putin is the bad guy.

1

u/DCS1987 1d ago

No one with a heart or with any sense thinks this.

1

u/Kripkrape 1d ago

No normal person is blaming Ukraine for defending your children or Land. Only abnormal people are doing this wired shit.

1

u/Stunning_Head_610 1d ago

The Russian disinformation campaign combined with trumps complicity in putins invasion is forming false narratives that don’t represent the real beliefs of most good people. I truly hope putin just drops dead and the whole invasion just collapses, trump can at least be kicked out of office…hopefully.

1

u/Grouchy_Durian2875 1d ago

No sane person is blaming Ukraine for being invaded. Biden was overly cautious in his response, but I very much doubt even Trump does, realistically - he's just getting marching orders from Putin because it looks like he has a history of fucking kids, and Putin probably has the receipts.

I don't think Putin quite anticipated how desperate for constant praise Trump is, but could anyone? The dude is malignant.

I can only speak to my own country, but every third car I see has a Ukraine flag bumper sticker. Trump may suck the air out of every room he walks into, but most of the world is firmly in support of Ukraine and just as eager to see the leash come off in our response as you are.

1

u/Prior_Hope2874 1d ago

As a Russian - you are not blamed and can’t be blamed. It’s unthinkable. Russia is the aggressor point blank. World is crazy. It did not deserve this poor little girl 😭

1

u/Pure_Complaint_7900 1d ago

It is a very tragic aspect of this situation.

Shameful how an Ally is treated in favor of an enemy.

1

u/Important-Cheek-5892 1d ago

Why does your military put its equipment inside/ next to civilian buildings? There were enough photos and videos showing this practice. The chance for Peace was there, with the Minsk Agreements...which your government did not adhere to.....and now it's too late. You expect all of Europe to suffer for you?? No!!!

1

u/Kundas 1d ago

Only propaganda is blaming Ukraine. No worries, i dont think the majority of people actually believe that at all from what I've been hearing.

1

u/Turbulent_Crew_2740 1d ago

Considering that Ukraine is in the situation that it is, that Russianis advancing. It would be the smartest move to give up the land to stop the killing. Girl wouldn’t have died. Mothers, fathers, children, men, women, grandparents, none would have died if the land would have been given up. Zelensky continuing the war while getting rich, killing the innocent. I don’t understand how the Ukraine ego can overpower the worth of a human life. Keep the land and lose lives, live with traumas, live while missing those who were once sharing food at the same table. To me the land would be worthless as long as I keep my loved ones.

1

u/ukrokit2 🇨🇦🇺🇦 1d ago

And then some Western peacenik goes "the Russians are just like us, it's all Putin's doing"

1

u/LeroyyyJenkinnnss 1d ago

Only imbeciles actually believe that. I live in America and everyone around me is sympathetic to your cause. Don’t feel so isolated the news is bullshit anyway

1

u/Majestic_Tea666 1d ago

There are some leaders trying to peddle that false narrative but the majority of the world knows Ukrainians are being invaded and are only defending themselves. We are so sorry for what you have to live through. Please keep courage.

1

u/BodhingJay 1d ago

No one should ever be blaming Ukrainians.. theyre putting up an incredible effort. They've done what many thought were impossible and made Putin and Russia look so small

1

u/Heygen 1d ago

who is blaming ukrainians? ukraine is literally the defender of europe right now and of themselves of course. who gives a shit what americans say.

1

u/gem4ik2 1d ago

Nobody blame Ukraine for defending itself, Ukraine is blamed for choosing western side instead of neutrality. If Ukraine stayed neutral, none of this would ever happen

1

u/karpaediem 1d ago

Every Estonian-American gathering there has been since the invasion has a song and/or words of support for Ukraine. It seems like the loudest voices are the most hateful right now, but there are so many more who join together in fellowship and solidarity and advocate in their lives for the freedom of Ukraine that don't make the news. You are not alone, every single person in the world who has family memories of Soviet oppression stands with you.

1

u/Togaz 1d ago

I live in the United States and there are Ukranian flags all over my neighborhood in Chicago. We see you and we stand with you.

Slava Ukraini

1

u/Witte-666 1d ago

I'm from western Europe, and I've been angry and ashamed we haven't done more since day 1 of the invasion. We should have helped massively since the day Russia invaded, but instead, our leaders just talked and protested, waiting for Ukraine to fall in the first weeks. That didn't happen, and against all odds, they resisted the overwhelming invasion force. Only then we started to help but always too little, too late and in the end it's al about money we don't want to give away while Ukrainians give their lives for freedom.

1

u/Sennappen 1d ago

It's the exact same thing with Palestinian children.

1

u/Diamond_Doll7865 1d ago

I appreciate that you feel abandoned, our president is a failure. I will continue to support the cause, and the people.

1

u/GameofCheese United States of America 1d ago

Some of us actually care. Liberating Ukraine from Putin is the least we (the USA) can do, based on our "values" from the Cold War and WWII.

You are at heart a European nation and should be treated as such. We need to help Ukraine like we would France the UK or any other similar country.

Many of us feel the same way. If I were a military veteran I would come help.

My heart is with each and every one of you.

1

u/theSmolnyy 22h ago

Bcz you use NATO's script and place your military equipment among civilian infrastructure. Also, try to find out what was it: S300 or Patriot. We all know Zelenskyy's regime use your own air defence for such provocations, to make news such as this one.

u/thrice_twice_once 36m ago

Also Tragic that we, Ukrainians, are blamed for defending our children from the Russian terrorist regime…

Ukrainians criticised for not giving up the hope of being a free nation

The world is upside down. Wrong has been made right.

Russia and Israel, conducting atrocities on civilians by might of arms.

May you find peace soon.

The game played by ultra rich and powerful nations at the expense of human lives.

Ukraine was defanged. Then it was attacked.

And now it's being cursed for requesting aid in a war it didn't start.

So much for the rules based order.

So much for freedom and democracy.

It's all about might makes right.

Hamas didn't murder 17k innocent children. But thanks for proving my point.

Well, Hamas may not have pulled the trigger itself for the 17.000 kids But they celebrate the deaths because they can stage them in propaganda, and they laid the groundwork by attacking Israel.

Imagine saying that Ukraine uses children deaths like this one for propaganda. That's so disgusting.

There are statements from the Hamas leadership and from civilians in the Gaza Strip saying exactly that, that they welcome the deaths of civilians because they can use it as propaganda. This war could have been over long ago, and with it the deaths of innocent children, if the side that started this war had been harassing 1,200 civilians and kidnapping 150 civilians, both of which were welcomed and celebrated by the civilians.

Source? Do I need to remind you that Palestine was occupied on Oct 6th? This is like saying that Ukraine started the war by shelling the Donbass. And they could've just accepted unfair Russian peace offers.

Russian and Israeli supporters have so much in common...

Because Israel didn't allow them to. That's why we need to support Israel.

We need to support the illegal Israeli occupation and genocide because they have a superior army?

Why did the army with perhaps the best inteligence in the world allowed a bunch of fighters with AKs to breach their blockade and kill people for hours anyway?

I wouldn't say that the Israeli occupation of a territory formerly run by a genocidal terrorist organization is illegal.

Luckily that's not up to you to decide, that's why the international law exists.

Why wasn't Israel able to stop Oct 7th from happening?

Yes, since this is not a context.

What you can only think of Gaza's children dying in a certain context and Ukranian children in other context?

Makes no sense to me. The only reason people get upset when you mention other kids is because they simply dont value them the same.

This is a Europe focused subreddit and this is a post about Ukraine. There are plenty of other places you can talk about that in.

It's entirely off topic and has zero to do with anything Europe.

Where a post has relevance to Europe it's allowed, what are not allowed are posts that have nothing to do with the original post and have no relevance to Europe as per the subreddits rules.

If you don't like that there's plenty of other subreddits you can post in.
