I think the EU needs to spend a few billion more on shipments of oil and gas from Russia. As a Ukrainian American, I hate Trump, but am getting really sick and tired of the hypocrisy.
100% look tea Trump is a dick but i recall what was it 2017 i believe he said yea it's a bad idea for you guys to be so reliant on Russia for Energy he was prompted laughed out of the room by the EU Leaders well 8 years later they are not laughing anymore nor have they really made any serious moves to Divest away from Russian Energy supplies

Even Ukraine buys 15% of its fuel from India now, and that's indirectly coming from Russia.
Oil is a fungible commodity, there are no spare oil wells around that can be turned on on a whim. A sudden total boycott would have the following effects: on a world scale, it would cause a chaotic realigments of buyers and sellers, and during that time, oil prices would spike, to the benefit of the sellers, and the detriment of the buyers. This would give Russia a bunch of cash and the Ukraine supporters a recession, budget deficits, and as a result political opposition to sending support to Ukraine. And in the end, everyone who's buying and selling now would still be buying and selling, so it would not even accomplish the main goal.
What is the main goals? It's not a problem that Russia delivers fuel to us. The problem is that they profit from it.
So the sanctions were designed with the goals in mind of more or less maintaining supply to the world market, but making it harder or impossible for Russia to profit. This goal has been achieved. They can still sell, but the middlemen scalp the profit. In addition, sanctions also mean Russia has difficulties obtaining spare parts and expertise for their oil industry. So with reduced profits and increased costs, it's possible they're making a loss rather than a profit on their oil trade. But they can't turn the wells off, because that would damage them and they would be closed forever. So they're forced to make losses.
In the end, the sanctions work as intended and that's hindering Russia in their war effort, making it impossible to sustain. It was never the goal or a possibility to knock them out with a shock effect in one go.
Would it be bigger than the one Biden and Europe rolled out for Putin?
The one when they secured the Russian legacy as Europe’s sole provider of oil and gas, by lifting sanctions a few years ago to allow a pipeline that would provide enough oil to usher in Russia’s oil-age supremacy for the next 3-4 decades?
No, this is not a joke about death, because I am Ukrainian. I am not joking about the fact that more than twenty people were killed in the city where I lived for a year and a half. Like I would not joke about the fact that in a few days my uncle, who was killed in Russian captivity, will be buried. This comment is to remind you that we live in a world where a child murderer and terrorist number one comes to the most powerful country in the world, which could stop him, and is welcomed with honours.
