Because Israel didn't allow them to. That's why we need to support Israel.

We need to support the illegal Israeli occupation and genocide because they have a superior army?

Why did the army with perhaps the best inteligence in the world allowed a bunch of fighters with AKs to breach their blockade and kill people for hours anyway?

I wouldn't say that the Israeli occupation of a territory formerly run by a genocidal terrorist organization is illegal.

Luckily that's not up to you to decide, that's why the international law exists.

Why wasn't Israel able to stop Oct 7th from happening?

It is absolutely not against international law to occupy your enemy's territory if they refuse to end their aggression against you...

Basically what you are saying that the Allied occupation of Germany was illegal at the end of WW2?

But experts in the UN agree that Palestine is illegally occupied. Am I supposed to trust a random redditor instead?

Do you know when Palestine was occupied btw? When Israel started a war againts Egypt in 1967.

You know very well how politicized the UN is on such matters.

Am I supposed to trust a random redditor instead?

Absolutely not, both you and I are random Redditors. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be critical of the UN stance which is clearly subject to a lot of political pressure.

Do you know when Palestine was occupied btw? When Israel started a war againts Egypt in 1967.

Ah yes, let's pretend everything in this wider conflict started with that...

Like what? Like condemning the Russian occupation of Ukraine?

The world is much more divided on Israel/Palestine as there are a lot of Arab countries defending Palestinian actions against Israel.

Okay? Should we not listen to the UN then? Care to name some other examples where you think the UN is wrong in condemning a nation?

We should, but you do not seem to understand what the UN is. Arab countries carry a lot of weight there and you definitely should be critical of those statements.

So do Western countries. I'd argue even more weight.

I just don't understand why some people want to question the clearly illegal Israeli occupation and undermine the legitimacy of the UN. You know that this hypocrisy will be used to justify Russia's actions right? Do you want to live in the world where might is right?

Certainly not all of them and their criticism of Israel is mainly because the uneducated leftists in their countries swallow Hamas propaganda for breakfast.

You know that this hypocrisy will be used to justify Russia's actions right? Do you want to live in the world where might is right?

There is no hypocrisy ffs, these are entirely different circumstances. Hamas is a genocidal terrorist organization that brutally attacked Israeli civilians! Name a situation where this would legitimately apply for any of Russia's neighbors???

It is much more important that countries retain their inherent right to self-defence which Israel is manifesting now.
