On this day On 30th August, 1436 the construction of the Dome of the Cathedral of Florence was finished, 16 years after architect Filippo Brunelleschi laid the first stone.

I climbed the dome to the cupola December, 2005. I had been solo travelling in Italy for a month at that point so I was gassed by the time I made it to the top....so worth it. Cold out, but I was sweating lol.

Pretty wild we made this 650 years ago while some newly build homes in the western world are still tornado bait. I'm looking at you America.
