What do you know about... Sweden?

This is the twenty-second part of our ongoing series about the countries of Europe. You can find an overview here.

Todays country:

Sweden

Sweden is the largest nordic country in the EU, both in terms of size and population. They joined the EU in 1995, but are not part of NATO, like their eastern neighbour Finland. Sweden held a referendum on joining the Euro in 2003, which resulted in a rejection.

So, what do you know about Sweden?

People either praise or vilify Sweden in the US so depending on who you ask, the situation politically is entirely different. As an American, I feel like I'm too ignorant and removed to comment on it so who really knows! I don't live there. ¯(ツ)

something that's pretty funny about the current american politization (or whatever you want to call it) of sweden is that this is not the first time this happens. The myth of the "Swedish Sin" is also something that was used in earlier eras to prove some point in american politics. As well as the ever fruitful socialist hell/utopia memes.
