⏪️ Throwback Thursday Building Bridges - The Opening of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 - Live from Vienna

https://youtu.be/lRdPSqQdJqI?si=vweYdfghKeiXg3dM

Now that we're officially going back to Vienna in 2026, the official Eurovision YouTube channel posted the opening of the 2015 contest, the last time it was held there. It was pretty cool to have a vocal theme for the contest, and maybe this is a sign that we'll have another one this year...

This is one of my favorite openings ever. Conchita flying from the ceiling was gaggotry

Buidling bridges as a theme was awesome. I hope we get to hear it in someway in 2026

It's so fucking lame that they stopped doing annual slogans

I’m still taking „Europe, shall we dance?” AKA the bidding slogan for Vienna as this year’s slogan. I’d personally reduce it to just „Shall we dance?” But the original still works

And "Welcome Home" as the 2025 one for me

And „Northern Lights” for 2024

I loved that tune. It still pops up in my head now and then.

I rewatched this, got emotional cos it was such a good opening to a fantastic contest (and cos I grew up listening to Udo Jürgens Austria 1966) and thought 'it would take so long to explain to my non ESC friends why this makes me so emotional.

Is this a hint that they will also let develop an identificable theme/slogan for this edition? (Doubtful/ironic tone)

I was there! It was my first in person Eurovision experience and I’ll never forget it!! Been going regularly ever since!! Roll on 2026! 🤩

Like many, I’ve struggled immensely over the past 10 years and this is such a beautiful reminder of how different and optimistic the world felt in 2015.

A decade later and it's still one of the best openings a Eurovision has ever had. When they brought the theme music back for a second for the 2026 host city announcement I just about cried!

I’m always amused by the robotic presenters eerily lip syncing

And the inexplicable rap break

This was actually such a creative way to have the opening! Love the song, the visuals, how they used the stage and everything! One of my favorite years - except for the winner of course lol

Great intro! Too and I was sitting on a side of the arena and I couldn't see the stage because of the arc 😅

Why does it have the old logo, adjusted to Vienna though?

Because that was the logo of the 2015 contest
