Has to be satire.

It's a completely fake tweet, I saw a version with the username and looked it up and it didn't exist. Too many people are falling for this

Edit: Turns out it's a real account, but still an obvious troll

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

It's from an account called AliaAbeed. You can look at the insane stuff they constantly tweet and somehow people actually still react to it like its a real person.

Much of /r/insanepeoplefacebook is fake, either for the pointless karma or to incite rage against the supposed real group being spoofed. I cringe so hard watching people try to construct some kind of personal ideology about opposing these posts. "Blah blah blah women R feminazis something something male genocide." Fuckin' get real people.

u/GobBluth19 Oct 16 '18

Every sub based around mocking pictures of text strawmen is fake

This one made me lol.

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

It's more likely propaganda designed to make people mad at feminists, and discredit #metoo.

49

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

I'm questioning everything now. If I see something that legitimately makes me mad, I ask myself "Who am I mad at and why?" If it's a group or movement whose extremists I already am not overly keen on, I chalk it up as fake and move on. Even if it's legit, it's kinder on my blood pressure to ignore it and there are thousands who will be angry in my place, I'm sure.

21

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

To be honest, that's a really healthy outlook. I wish I had the self-control to not obsess over this shit. The constant stream of red flags and warning signs has me well over the edge into near constant anxiety.

10

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

Well I've thought things online have gotten particularly bad in the last couple of years, but if it's true that Russia has been shitstirring then it kind of all falls into place. I stopped using Facebook as I was just getting angry, and I was catching myself reading comments on news stories I knew would be full of people making me angry. I don't know why I did it, but it wasn't healthy. But maybe a good chunk of it is Russian shitstirring bitches, trying to make the West tear itself apart.

I mean, people are inherently bad, but this gives me hope that they aren't that bad.

4

u/MakeUpAnything Oct 16 '18

It doesn’t even need to be Russian. Tons of people around the world can lie and make shit up just to stir the pot. Making far away faceless strangers go into all caps text rages is what brings joy to some people’s lives.

3

u/GobBluth19 Oct 16 '18

Its simple, get mad when people in power do things that have an effect

Don't get mad when random nobodies online that could easily be trolls, say dumb shit

3

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

The issue with this, is when only the trolls are left, with no voices speaking out against their lies, the passive and ignorant will take it as fact.

4

u/GobBluth19 Oct 16 '18

Oh definitely didn't mean don't call out these posts for being bs, that's needed

124

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

They should've done a better job at making it sound less fake, cuz this shit is fake.

63

u/NEEDZMOAR_ Oct 16 '18

comments above this one believe its real. If people want to be outraged they will find a reason.

39

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

Well TiA exists, so you're definitely right about that

115

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

They're not the smartest people, but look through this very thread; tons of people pointing out how insane "she" is.

44

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

You're right, damn. Those are at least people who probably weren't about to have nuanced views on feminism anyway, though.

20

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

I hope you're right. I increasingly worry that they're the average American who ignores politics.

2

u/cutty2k Oct 17 '18

The point isn’t to sway opinion, it’s to amplify existing opinion. The thing about trying to sway someone’s opinion is that you’re expecting them to think. If you want people divided, you want to reinforce their beliefs and paint the opposing side as absurdly as possible.

This kind of post is designed to push all the buttons and slip right under the radar for plausibility, so no critical thinking takes place. That’s why the first top level reply talking about this (the sub thread we’re in now) is like 7 comments down. People believe this shit is real. The ones that take the time to think it out are definitely in the minority and that is fucking terrifying.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '18

This seems grim but you're probably right. It simply works too well and with social media is too easy. My instinct is to think that people's bullshit meters go up at this point more often than not but who even knows anymore.

Most likely is, yes. The vast majority of right wing trolls are, especially anti-women trolls.

Or they just know their audience will eat it up anyway. Since when has the alt right needed a minimum bar of authenticity to anything they believe?

11

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

They did a great job. Lots of angry people in here.

11

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

Plenty of people here believe it's real. Many people on Reddit have seen so many of these fake "dumb SJW" posts that there's no longer much limit on what they'll believe is real when it comes to these things. They don't actually know what these sorts of people really act like because the fake versions are more entertaining so they make up most of the examples they see.

15

u/JBagelMan Oct 16 '18

Doesn’t matter if it sounds fake anyone can just delude themselves into thinking it’s real so that it fits their worldview.

7

u/quaybored Oct 16 '18

"It's the kind of thing they would say!"

3

u/GobBluth19 Oct 16 '18

Except look at the rest of the comments

They want to get stupid people baited, they don't want anyone that thinks for half a second prior to getting outraged

Its like Nigerian scammers intentionally using poor grammar

2

u/PineapplePoppadom Oct 16 '18

It only sounds fake to people who aren't idiots. The alt right laps this stuff up. You could write "I think all boys should be forced into trans surgery at age 5 so they can experience what it's like to live as an oppressed womyn" and they would think it was real feminism.

-4

u/WillsBlackWilly Oct 16 '18

Oh idk dude. I have read some wacky shit on twitter, and people are completely serious.

12

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

This isn't serious

0

u/WillsBlackWilly Oct 16 '18

I’m not saying it is. Just saying I would not be shocked if it was.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

Why not? The number of nonsense connections it takes to draw all these conclusions is already hard to believe, and then to put it into a very formulaic "demanding sjw" style post with no real qualifiers or anything, is not only very fake, but transparent. By far the more likely explanation is that this person is trying to undermine feminism or "sjws". A lot of people will believe this, combined with some "wouldn't be shocked" types and it just snowballs into rageporn, and for the OP, well, mission accomplished.

0

u/WillsBlackWilly Oct 16 '18

I’m just saying I’ve seen dumb shit like this before, so I’m not shocked if someone believed this dumb shit. I’m not trying to undermine feminism lmao. I agree it’s very likely it’s a meme, but it wouldn’t shock me if it was real. And just like any ideology feminism has its extremes, and SOME people in that movement go too far and put out ideas that are unrealistic, overbearing, and very delusional. This happens with EVERY movement, political group, etc.

16

u/gonzofish Oct 16 '18

With a little digging I found the Twitter it came from and the profile reads like a checklist of alt-right complaints. Even a post where she had her “5 year old nephew try on a dress because he might be trans” and multiple posts about how “men are trash”

It’s just too on the nose to be real. If it is, it’s a person not connected with reality

35

u/Legalsandwich Oct 16 '18

It's more likely propaganda designed to make people mad at feminists, and discredit #metoo.

Agreed.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

This smacks of Russian division trolls. No one thinks this, but it gets people mad, and convinces them that the opposing group is no longer human.

1

u/kudles Oct 16 '18

What do you mean? Isn't it just a troll lol?

2

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

Trolling with a specific aim.

1

u/kudles Oct 16 '18

But once people find out it's a troll, it doesn't really affect people.

1

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

Only if a given person knows that. Also, if at any point they thought "stupid feminists" or something like that, the damage is done.

1

u/kudles Oct 16 '18

I thought "god this person is an idiot" until I looked at what else they said and deduced they were a troll.

1

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

Considering the state of the nation, I'll go ahead and say you're smarter than the average voter.

2

u/kudles Oct 16 '18

Perhaps people need to be better educated on what trolling is and reputable sources. C'mon social studies teachers! This is a gold mine for lessons to teach your students!!

1

u/Talmonis Oct 16 '18

Absolutely. I think a big one needs to be explaining the difference between shitposting and trolling.

u/JDraks Oct 16 '18

If the account is propaganda yeah, but the tweet does exist here

2

u/CoryOfHouseBusta Oct 16 '18

"My 1 year old nephew just said his first words: "The Prophet's mosque had no barriers." OMG so proud!"

Yeah pretty sure it's just specifically designed to be everything alt right hates.

26

u/BrainPicker3 Oct 16 '18

Had to go wayyyyyy too far down for this comment.

2

u/retardvark Oct 17 '18

Like 90% of this shit on here, it absolutely is

8

u/themaybegamer Oct 16 '18

Doesn't have to be... There are really stupid people out there...

Edit: but still, I think this is probably satire

5

u/BeerJunky Oct 16 '18

Most of what is on the internet seems stupid enough to be satire but alas it is not. People are so dumb that it's hard for people to even tell when I'm making a joke these days.

-2

u/katamuro Oct 16 '18

nope, you can't never underestimate how stupid people are. Just when you thought they hit rock bottom someone somewhere does something so stupid you can't believe it's real.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 16 '18

When you hit the rock bottom somehow soneone managed to go dig even deeper with a hammer.

1

u/UTLRev1312 Oct 16 '18

i was gonna say, this is totally a real tweet, and not at all satire.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 17 '18

It obviously is.

0

u/Lobanium Oct 16 '18

Possibly not. People are idiots.

-3

u/im_a_dr_not_ Oct 16 '18

Which part of insane do you not understand?
