Redraft - Trade Advice Override Trade??

Really need some second opinions here. I vetoed this trade in our 12 man 1 flex PPR league, for damaging league integrity.

Team 1 receives: Travis Hunter RJ Harvey

Team 2 receives: Xavier Legette Kareem Hunt

The hunter/harvey recipient is very upset. Did I make the wrong call?

That’s a trade caused by collusion / taking advantage of someone. Great veto

You're basing this on...... a hunch?

So are you

If someone makes a claim, such as "these teams are colluding" then to onus is on them to provide the evidence, not the other way around.

If you were team 2, would you make this trade? If yes, your reply makes sense

That's irrelevant to this discussion.

“I wouldn’t make that trade” is hardly grounds for a veto.

No experienced player would make this trade. It’s not just a “I personally wouldn’t make this trade”

Agree 100%. But “I wouldn’t make this trade” (the comment I responded to) is a terrible criteria for vetoing trades.

I’d be upset too. Vetoes are stupid. What integrity are you talking about? It’s not a good trade but how are people going to learn. It’s clearly not collusion. All you’re going is setting the precedent that all trades in that league are likely to be stopped.

I've been playing fantasy forever and Vetos are a double edged sword, if I'm in a money league vetos should 100% be allowed because why would I pay $500-$1000 and let someone else get a better player and make their team better? That's the point of competition. Vetos can also prevent collusion. In this case it's 100% collusion, no one in their right mind is making that trade. You could argue "how is anyone gonna learn" blah blah blah with that horseshit. If you are a fantasy veteran and you are taking advantage of a new player, you are a scumbag and a terrible human being.

If it’s a money league then do some fucjin research before accepting a shit trade offer. Vetoes are for collusion. Straight up. There is nothing in this case said about how it was negotiated or agreed upon. So OP needs to add more info. If I work my ass off negotiating a trade that gets vetoed for no reason other than “it’s not good trade” then what are we trading for? Not every one can be even because it makes no sense to make the deal. Might as well turn trades off at that point

If there's no collusion here and this isn't Team 2's first time ever playing, then you made a mistake. You can't just veto something because you deem it "unfair." Why are you or the league the arbiters of that. Unilateral vetoing or even veto votes compromise the integrity of the league more than this trade. Let people manage their teams

It seems like Reddit fantasy commissioners have a thing against vetos but too often idiots ruin the integrity of a league by making stupid trades. Personally, I intervene in these situations and you can quit the league if you disagree. Also, have very little turnover. Sorry fellow commishes.

Lopsided sure, but you have to let people ruin thier own teams. If you want to babysit every transaction then it's no fun for anyone, including you.

Unserious take.

If you let experienced players take advantage of new players, you shouldn’t be a commissioner.

Also, if you let 2 players collude & ruin a 17 week commitment for 8+ other players, you shouldn’t be commissioner.

If a trade is blatantly unbalanced like this, you can’t just allow it to happen

How do you know they were colluding?

As someone who has been doing fantasy for 15 years, who is currently, and has been, a commissioner, and who is currently in multiple hogh-stakes leagues, I disagree with your entire sentiment. As I stated previously, if you want to babysit 11 other adults, dont invite me to your taco leagues.

You’re assuming the guy getting fleeced is inexperienced. You have no idea how that negotiation went down. I personally start low and see what they’re thinking and sometimes these types of trades shockingly get accepted.

The best policy is to let every team vote on trades. If 3 or more owners veto the trade it’s a dead trade.

This might be the worst policy -- conflict of interests. No team is going to see a trade that makes a good team better and be like, "yeah i'm good with that". The league shouldn't be the arbiter of what a fair trade is or isn't.

In a redraft… I don’t think I veto it. Both RBs are backups at the moment. It’s too close to call. One side definitely has more upside though.
