Can't choose "best option available" in the surround sound settings

Somehow the whole settings menu is locked. Dolby Digital Plus is activated there but I can't choose anything else. Since I use a 2x Echo Studio + Echo Sub configuration i want to make use of Dolby Atmos.

Why are all the options greyed out?

Dolby Digital Plus can deliver Atmos content the difference is it's compressed vs TrueHD which is lossless. Pretty sure the Echo Studio doesn't support TrueHD and only DD+ encoding.

Really? I just ordered The newest Gen Fire TV Cube to have Atmos available💀 every sources also told that TrueHD is supported

I didn't say the Cube didn't support TrueHD. I said the Studio doesn't.

Well still. The Studios deliver very good sound regardless. EAC3 is still an option, but i dont have that many movies that have this Audio codec

I "retired" my Studio surround setup just a few months ago. Went to a soundbar with atmos support and surround speakers. Wish Amazon would make a way to integrate other echo speakers for the surrounds and have a true 5.1.2 system (the .2 being the upfiring speakers in the studios) or 5.1.4 with the use of studios for the rear channel.

Yeah true. I hope i enjoy my Studios as long as possible until I want something new 😂 The Echo Sub really makes a difference though. I cant imagine that soundbars reach this heavy bass

You've got two speakers and a subwoofer. What do you think you'll gain from Atmos?

Atmos provides sound objects that can be positioned based on how the main, center, surround, and Atmos speakers are arranged. You've got two speakers.
