Is Rosamund Pike this generation’s Meryl Streep?

I just saw Hostiles, with Christian Bale, and Pike, lamenting her deceased children. She reminded me of Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice. She’s in a lot of flicks these days, and has that same demure strength. A very convincing actor…or a big phony?

She is a competent actor when given good material but she is nowhere near Streep’s level.

I feel she’s massively underrated, but she’s been where she is for a while; not sure there’s a higher level of stardom in her future.

No. For a better comparison with Streep, think Emma Thompson or Dame Judi Dench.

It’s a tough movie to watch, but I think that Streep’s best movie is Sophie’s Choice.

Olivia Colman is the best modern Meryl Streep comparison

I am always surprised when I see her in a dramatic role. And I wonder: is the a gag reel?

Meryl Streep just operates on a different level.

But Hostiles is amazing in general. Rosamund is so sad in it, her screams in that initial scene, her unwillingness to let go of her dead children.

Hostiles is an incredible movie and I also think it has Christian Bale’s best performance.

That movie also has one of the most potent depictions of soldier PTSD I’ve ever seen.

I find Rosamund wildly overrated, no hate on her, just one of those mystifying things where everybody seems to agree someone is quite special but you just don't see it yourself

She could be… if casting agents liked her as much as they liked Meryl. 🤷🏻‍♂️
