NO SPOILERS On a lighter note...

Can I just say that I really enjoy Hunter on Guy's Grocery Games?! 😄 He's funny as the goof of the pair and I'm here for it. I know lots of you think he's awkward in front of the camera but on GGG, he's supposed to be! Love it.

I’m sure he is a nice kid but boy is he the opposite of charismatic.

u/jekelish3 Jun 20 '25

This is where I'm at. He seems like a very nice young man. But he's where "on-camera magnetism" goes to die.

u/Stealth_Howler Jun 20 '25

His post round “interviews” on TOC are so clumsy and awkward. The boy has a future, but it’s behind cameras.

I've started to enjoy it ironically somehow. Like I'm actually entertained how bad an awkward it is.

It's kind of like that one local restaurant people like to go to because the owner is an absolute asshole.

It must be brutally hard for him to constantly be compared to his father's energy.

That’s the best part 😂

He reminds me of the showcase girls on the price is right :)

Ahh the memories of “Barker’s Beauties”, as they were termed, back in the day when Bob Barker hosted. 😁

u/slight_shake Jun 19 '25

Omg I turned on price is right recently and HOLY SHIT it is soooo cringey. How is Drew still the host?! I grew up on PIR and this shit is despicable lol. I wanted to at least see who won… couldn’t do it, had to turn it off.

That’s too bad that it’s in such a state now. The only version I’ve watched is when Bob Barker and Rod Roddy were at the helm.

I was always skeptical of who succeeded Barker, in particular. But your assessment says all I need to know about how and why I’m content for my viewing of the show to remain back from my childhood.

2

u/cathy80s Jun 24 '25

There's nothing wrong with the show now. Incidentally, Rod Roddy was a good announcer, but it was Johnny Olsen who originated "Come on down!" He was the OG announcer on the Bob Barker daytime TPIR.

Having now seen the current version, Drew Carey as host just doesn’t do it for me. Bob Barker just had a better “spark” as host. But I have nothing against Drew it’s just a preference thing.

I can see why the show is still hit with fans. It seems that other hit game shows have been able to evolve with new hosts too like: Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud.

Thanks for the background. Like I said, I grew up with Bob and Rod so that is my familiarity.

u/cathy80s Jun 25 '25

I'm a bit of a Johnny stan 😂

Lol - that’s cool. 😂👍🏽

u/slight_shake Jun 19 '25

It really bugged me that Drew was using the skinny mic that Bob made SO cool somehow, like never has a microphone been so cool. Definitely pretended to be Bob before with a pretzel stick lol.

8

u/tacobellhotsauce Jun 20 '25

What in the fuck are you talking about?

0

u/cathy80s Jun 24 '25

Bob Barker was not the only game show host to use the long skinny mic.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 20 '25

my friend always says he’d look great in a sequined bodycon dress lmao

37

u/Jazzgin1210 Jun 19 '25

lol hunter, is that you?

20

u/DumpedDalish Jun 20 '25

I just can't forgive Hunter for never, ever improving... even after over 200 appearances on his father's shows across ten years.

Two. Hundred. Plus. Shows. And he's still a charisma-free, fumbling mushmouth who looks like he wandered in from the intern break room.

Still, I'm glad somebody likes him.

12

u/Lizzie3232 Jun 20 '25

I agree and think he has improved. This is not a role he would ever have been cast in organically, but either he’s starting to grow into it, admittedly slowly, or I’m getting used to it.

Either way, I’m rooting for him.

I agree. He has never bothered me. When he first started the reporting on TOC (after the matches), I saw he was awkward on camera. There is something sincere about him that is endearing. On GGG, he has limited screen time and seems to have built up some on camera confidence. Nepotism? Of course. But he is not someone to hate on. On Guy's Ranch Kitchen, he had a cute episode working with the lovely Amanda F. I really liked him on that episode.

15

u/javel1 Jun 19 '25

I feel like he has gotten to know so many of the chefs over the years, that he is very genuine when talking to them after the cook on TOC.

15

u/Zoethor2 Jun 19 '25

I imagine a lot of them feel like an extended network of aunts and uncles to him. I also enjoy him chatting with them, and he's good at approaching them appropriately given their emotional state, including not approaching them at all for some chefs that were really upset.

5

u/Icy-Routine-7634 Jun 20 '25

Guy bothers me more than Hunter, lol. I'm kidding. They're both fine. Although I do agree him meeting the chef in the hallway after the cook on TOC is awkward. But on GGG, he's kinda funny.

3

u/1cockeyedoptimist Jun 22 '25

I like Hunter and I think he plays a great "foil".

15

u/strwbrryfruit Jun 19 '25

GGG is the perfect place for him. His awkward goofiness fits in so well with Guy's silly theatrics. I love seeing him come out in ridiculous costumes doing dumb bits. Keep him away from the serious competitions like TOC and let him blossom with the funny stuff.

4

u/MagnusAlbusPater Jun 20 '25

He’s much better on GGG than TOC.

10

u/Capital_Attempt_2689 Jun 20 '25

I like when he calls his Dad 'father'. Too funny.

23

u/EmergencyRead5254 Jun 19 '25

Yay nepotism!

24

u/Zoethor2 Jun 19 '25

I don't really see how it matters on GGG. It's not like he took a role away from some more deserving individual - the role wouldn't exist if Hunter wasn't in it, it was something Guy created specifically to give his son an opportunity.

Also it's an entertainment cooking show, not a political office. Nepotism and favoritism are rampant in the entertainment industry, it's hardly like Guy invented the concept.

18

u/llavenderhaze Jun 19 '25

at least he’s gone to school to be actually helpful behind the scenes as well

13

u/slight_shake Jun 19 '25

People just like to hate shit… just to hate shit. Miserable fucks lol

9

u/Zoethor2 Jun 19 '25

It does seem like a lot to be shitting on this fairly pleasant, maybe not outstandingly talented, but generally nice seeming dude who is presumably trying to do a decent job.

6

u/EmergencyRead5254 Jun 19 '25

Nepotism is getting a job because of kinship. This is the definition of nepotism; every point you made just supports mine.

Also- way to undercut your argument: This doesn’t count as nepotism! But it’s hardly like Guy invented the concept (that this isn’t example of)!

-4

u/Zoethor2 Jun 19 '25

If you reread what I wrote, I never said it wasn't nepotism. I just said I don't think it's important in this particular case. And it's a bit of a tired refrain on every single thread that Hunter is mentioned in. Yes, he has the job because of his dad. So what? It's a cooking entertainment show, it's not that serious.

1

u/MustelaNivalus Jun 20 '25

It so much fun to have your father bully you on TV. That’s what Nepo Babies do best.

16

u/itsgonnabealbright Jun 19 '25

No, sorry. You are not allowed to say that here. Only Hunter hate is allowed in this sub.

I don’t mind him either. Who here would refuse if their famous dad said “hey, you wanna be on my show?” Yet they all hate him for it.

5

u/Available-Key-1875 Jun 20 '25

Really like Hunter!!

16

u/Secure-Document-8479 Jun 19 '25

I Do not like him. Too swarmy and ffs, why dress like your dad? Tacky, gold everywhere, stupid facial hair. Go earn your job instead of relying on daddy for a job.

6

u/slight_shake Jun 19 '25

Drinking some 100% pure haterade. Why would you not take advantage of something like that given to you by your family? Not to mention he graduated UNLV and is a good kid. Hunter - Not an asshole You - Asshole

3

u/farming_with_tegridy Jun 20 '25

Jesus, who hurt you? 😂

0

u/Secure-Document-8479 Jun 20 '25

Hunter hurts me every time I see him on TV! LOL

11

u/PuppyJakeKhakiCollar Jun 19 '25

I've never had an issue with Hunter. He's quieter than his dad and seems maybe a bit shy. People act like Guy is forcing FN to give Hunter his own show or firing people to give Hunter a position, when in reality he appears on Guy's shows and usually in a sidekick/supporting role, occasionally a judge on GGG. A lot of kid's work for their parents' business. At my job, my manager's daughter also works there, in a different department, under a different manager, and it's never been an issue.

8

u/Rocktype2 Jun 20 '25

He’s never going to be a great TV presence. Who cares. He works with his dad, and it’s fine.

He also seems like a decent enough human, so give the kid a break

6

u/bidibidibombom2022 Jun 20 '25

lol are we watching the same show? He’s awkward and the opposite of charismatic. If he wasn’t his son, he would not have a future in this job.

4

u/-MC_3 Jun 19 '25

I don’t mind Hunter. My wife can’t stand him 😂

3

u/okmijnmko Jun 19 '25

It's the spillover love you have for Justin Warner SuperStar.

2

u/BurnThis2 Jun 21 '25

Justin Warner, the son Guy never had! 😆

3

u/discussatron Jun 20 '25

Nepotism is the American dream.

4

u/yogaliscious Jun 19 '25

How nice of you to say that!! He's a cutie. His camera presence gets better all the time.

2

u/Couch_Tester Jun 19 '25

I loved Stan Laurel of Laurel and Hardy. I loved Rose of the Golden Girls. I know people holler NEPOTISM, but I just don't. He's got his degrees, he's working on experience, and I enjoy seeing him on GGG.

2

u/Acornriot Jun 19 '25

Rage bait use to be believable

2

u/FinanciallySecure9 Jun 19 '25

I don’t dislike him. He seems so uncomfortable playing second fiddle to his dad all the time.

I’m so glad to see a positive post about a FN personality, after the passing of Anne Burrell. Thank you.

So many chefs get so much hate from strangers, especially on this sub. Hopefully that’ll stop now that (again hopefully) people realize they are hating on actual humans when they voice their opinion so publicly.

2

u/InternationalWheel61 Jun 20 '25

I adore Guy and his entire Family. We don’t have enough of that to watch. Guy working with Hunter is awesome to me. ❤️

0

u/lIlIIlIIllIllIlIIIll Jun 19 '25

Hunter is a nepo baby and a bore. His dad is like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Guys Grocery Games is awful and annoying. Bad cooks making slop in a hurry.

7

u/Available-Key-1875 Jun 20 '25

Then don't watch them if it's such a problem for you

0

u/lIlIIlIIllIllIlIIIll Jun 20 '25

I don’t but I’m allowed to comment on them.

-3

u/phunkyboss Jun 19 '25

😬 He’s a bit of a mush mouth, loves chains and earrings like his dad, but he’s growing on me

0

u/MustelaNivalus Jun 20 '25

It’s refreshing to see a father make his son look like a complete buffoon. It got old making fun Troy, Demaris and Blais. Doing it to his son is so much better. Nobody makes fun of people as good as the Guy can.

So is Hunter a cohost or side piece awkward humor for the show
