Episode 1806

Host Tyler Florence leads the trucks to Virginia Beach, Va., where one team's past catches up to them despite their best showing in the race yet. The strongest competitors conspire against each other, one of them to great success. Another team struggles to prove they have what it takes to win.

Well I wonder what horrible past catches up with a team?

Looks like just one episode tonight, unlike last week's two-episode night. Here is the description from the Food Network site.

Episode 1805

Host Tyler Florence gives the food trucks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dash around Darlington Raceway in South Carolina and cook for NASCAR's Mamba Smith and Todd Gilliland. One team wins their first challenge but follows it up by making a shocking decision with devastating results. No one is prepared for the shocking outcome of this week's elimination.

I wonder what the shocking outcome is? I mean does someone else self-eliminate and walk off?

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Great Food Truck race semi final episode tonight. Pre show and live discussion - spoilers Spoiler

From the Food Network website:

Episode 1807

The final three teams have no idea that host Tyler Florence is evaluating their food truck workflow in a secret surveillance challenge in Newport News, Va. He shuts the loser down for an hour, but his penalty comes with a silver lining. The top two teams both blow challenges they could have easily won, and one truck sets an all-time sales record.

We're down to three. I admit, I wouldn't mind seeing Que go home this episode. (not just for the screaming) but their food is the least interesting to me out of the three trucks left.

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Que’s got dairy-free options

Que could fix this whole “vegan” issue by just rebranding their options as dairy-free. They also have dishes that are vegetarian AND dairy-free. If you’re vegan, you’ll know what that means, and if you’re not vegan, you won’t care.

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Great Food Truck Race - Alaskan Season (S13)

Genuinely…who green lit this season? I’ve been on like a semi-binge of GFTR, mainly just having it on in the background when I’m working from home or doing stuff around the house. I’m at Season 13 right now, the Alaskan season. Seriously, I cannot think of a more bonkers premise for a GFTR season. Listen, I’ve been to Alaska, had family who lived there for a bit, and have visited in the winter. It literally blows my mind that Food Network gave the okay for Alaska as the base for season 13.

Alaska in the middle of winter. Most episodes when teams are selling, it’s pitch black outside because of how early the sun sets in Alaska winter. Teams constantly bringing up the price of things while shopping; Alaska notoriously has very high prices for groceries compared to mainland America. Not only do they not stay in the "major" cities in Alaska — they venture out into their even smaller towns. The teams are doing great doing what they can reaching out to in-town businesses and finding crowds that way, but sheesh Alaska is already scarcely populated as is so I can’t imagine how difficult it was to really find those crowds. Also - weather. Multiple episodes this season have teams mentioning the freezing weather, rain, snow, etc. Literally why did they do this in the height of winter.

This entire season just feels like Great Food Truck race on ultimate hard mode, lmao.

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Does the great food truck race use decoy trucks?

I’ve wondered this for a while. Like Project Runway would have some non finalist produce a final collection for fashion week to avoid spoilers before it aired.

Does anyone live in a city/town where the show has come through and seen a lot more trucks than were still in at that stage of any season?

GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE Great Food Truck Race Season 6? Spoiler

SPOILER FOR GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE SEASON 6

I know I’m a little behind the curve, but I just watched season 6, and I’m just… confused. No shade to Pho-Nomenal, clearly they’re a great team. However, every other time a team has had an issue with their truck that was within their control. they’ve had to figure it out on their own. For example, one truck blew a tire in a previous season, and the team had to pay for the tow and repair. Pho-Nomenal’s truck, which they brought themselves (vs. seasons 3, 4, and 5 when the show provided the teams with a truck), broke down in episode 1. All we heard was that they rented another truck in order to keep competing. Did they pay for that rental out of pocket? Did it come out of their till? How did they get it wrapped so quickly? It’s strange to me that we never discussed the impact that this breakdown had on their bottom line. Again, no disrespect to them, I’m just confused as to how they kept competing with apparently no negative impact, and if there really was no impact, was it really a fair competition?
