Question Graduated CS, no job? What to do?

I had an internship this summer and I won't know if I get a return offer until October. I'm trying to apply to stuff but haven't gotten any interviews back.

Any advice for a newly unemployed and graduated CS major?

It seems like entry level/junior level positions market is super rough right now. I've had 3 internships and have a decent amount of experience in web3 area or backend software engineering.

Rant FILL OUT THE PTS FEEDBACK FORM!!!

we all hate the new bus system. what we NEED to do is flood the feedback form telling them this is bullshit.

https://www.pts.gatech.edu/contact/

what i wrote:

“The new bus routes have caused considerable inconvenience and confusion among students. In my opinion, multiple bus route maps should have been provided to students with an opportunity to vote. The new routes are extremely inefficient. Busses bunch up, busses take way longer to reach a stop, and busses are now taking very unsafe tight turns in tech square. the “circulator” is badly executed and extremely inconsiderate. why would the most important route only have 1 bus at a time? Why would the gold bus stop at clough instead of the bus loop, a way more accessible location? It seems as if GT is putting cutting costs over the students’ needs. especially because we pay fees every semester for a bus system that isn’t even moderately competent or intuitive. It is shameful that there was no study, no polls, no open forum in the creation of the most important mode of transportation. this is a substantial hindrance to daily life and causes accessibility issues to the common student, LET ALONE students with disabilities. i implore gtps to have some type of response or reception to feedback.”

for all the future cynics, trying SOMETHING is better than nothing.

Sports Ideas for the GAMEDAY Announcement quotes

Over the past few years, I've always done GAMEDAY announcements with a quote and the hype track for the week. As I continue to write the tracks, any ideas what theme I should use for the quotes (last year's theme was LOTR)? Or should I just use random ones?

GT didn’t finish season inside AP 25 since 2014. after briefly getting into top 25 last season, and many returning players with high potential new recruits, this is the season to turn things around. #gojackets

Question LMC Majors - Reading Recommendations

Hi! I’m a recent student (2nd year) who just started at tech as an LMC major. I absolutely love all my classes and teachers and have been passionate about literature, however, it seems like the teachers refer to some books that I haven’t read in high school or my first year of college, like The Iliad etc. do you guys have any recommendations for me to up my reading game?

I would appreciate it, thank you!

Question Didn't know about the 39 Credit Hour Rule: How cooked am I?

Hello everyone,

I just learned that to graduate from Georgia Tech I need 39 credits 3000/4000 level classes. After this semester, which is supposed to be my last, I will have 36. Is there anyway around this? Nobody ever informed of this rule. Obviously I should have been more vigilant when it comes to verifying I met all the requirements, but I am just unsure how to proceed. I need to graduate this semester as I have a job lined up for after I graduate. Is this rule rigorously enforced? Any guidance would be appreciated, thank you!

Announcement Download Schedule Directly from OSCAR | Chrome Extension

🐝🐝Wassup yellow jackets! 🐝🐝

I present to you a chrome extension that can parse your schedule from OSCAR and turn it into an iCalendar (.ics) file! You can thus import your schedule to calendars such as iCloud Calendar, Google Calendar, Outlook, and probably more, allowing you to more easily keep track of your classes rather than constantly looking on OSCAR and/or screenshots of your schedule. This is still in its early stages, so please give me any feedback!

Edit: This is now open source!! Click here to view the github repository.

(To clear up any future confusion: this does not make or modify your schedule nor use any personal data. This simply parses your courses form OSCAR and downloads an .ics file from them.)

Have a good Fall 2025 semester!

Announcement The GT Degree Roadmap is out now!

Hi everyone! My name is Nicholas Stone, and I am the 25/26 Joint Vice President of Information Technology (JVPIT) for the GT Student Government Association (SGA). After several semesters of hard work, GT SGA is proud to announce the beta launch for the GT Degree Roadmap! Our incredible Internal Tools team has developed an application to effectively manage your multi-year course registration plans. The Roadmap is an intuitive drag-and-drop system which highlights up-to-date prerequisite errors and allows you to visualize your desired courses through an interactive Course Tree. Our dashboard allows you to debug course conflicts and quickly view courses on Course Critique to compare and contrast GPAs. This is not just a 4-year planning tool: It is purpose-built to accommodate the needs of incoming freshmen and the continuing student. If you are in need of navigating Add/Drop this week, or looking to plan out your future semesters, use the link below to speed up your process. Thanks!

Check out the Roadmap here: https://gt-degree-roadmap.vercel.app

Social/Club How to make friends that aren’t just acquaintances?

So I’ve come to the realisation recently that all save 2 of my friends are actually just acquaintances, where we hang out during club events and maybe get food after but that’s it.

Any ideas how I can make more friends? I go to a few clubs and it’s a lot of fun and the people are great, but I’d love to make more friends instead of just acquaintances.

If you’re looking for the experience of a lifetime… look no further!!! The application for our sixth season of Survivor Georgia Tech is now open! Fame, fortune, backstabbing your new friends… we’ve got physical strategic, social, mental, and ethical challenges.

Survivor Georgia Tech is a semester long game, faithful recreation of the CBS hit reality show Survivor on Georgia Tech’s campus! Don’t wait to apply! Applications will close soon, and the game will begin soon after Labor Day.

If this sounds interesting to you, fill out the application here!

Discussion Help needed for Comp org/Linear

Currently a transfer student, and the most time-consuming work I have right now is linear (1554) and comp org (2110). I need help on how to succeed for both.

For Linear I plan to do textbook, lecture, studio, and homeworks. Are there any other resources you guys felt really helped you out?

For Comp org the most information I have right now is the textbook, lectures, homeworks/projects. How did you guys practice for the quizzes and finals for this class as there appears to be a lot of content. Did the textbook Problems help at all?
