Hi I’m a nursing student that only applied for the learn and stay grant. Currently the status is saying that my school has to first confirm my enrolment, and that my estimated released money is about Sep 9-12.
My only concern is that when I go to uozone to look at my finances, under financial aid it’s not showing my learn and stay grant (not even that it’s pending aid). Shouldn’t it be showing up there 😭
I’m a little confused, it would be nice to have some clarification :) or if anyone is dealing with the same

Sup peeps! I have to take CSI 2372 (Programming Concepts in C++) this semester, and I have two options: Prof. Amir or Prof. Zhor. I don’t know which one to choose. Prof. Zhor has a lot of negative reviews, and Prof. Amir doesn’t have enough reviews, but Reddit isn’t fond of him either. So my question is: which one is the lesser of two evils?

Gunna try to keep this short and sweet.
I’m in his Twentieth Century World from 1945 class and I’m finding the amount of readings assigned each week unrealistic for taking notes while reading, other programs with other Profs. is very doable but this is wild, I’ve done 3 pages of notes off 3 pages of reading and it’s taken almost an hour…
Does anybody know what it takes to study for his exams and quizzes, are there students from previous years that have experience and could shed light on this?
Is this a “read and digest” type of program or a “study key terms” type of program or a “you gunna fail” type program ???
Thanks for any info or support ❤️🩹

Never played indoor soccer before and couldn't find anything in the rules that said I can't wear the firm ground cleats that I already own. Should I go out and buy proper indoor cleats or am I alright with what I have now?

Hi, i was considering getting into a sports club. Now i noticed that for the women's volleyball, they only offer a competitive team. I've never done volleyball in competition and i'm not quite sure i'd be at that level, so what are my options if i really want to play that sport?

Basically I moved in August 30, and my roommate found out our dorm had a bedbug infestation. To add to the frustration, our dryer was broken, the floor was sticky, the cabinets were sticky, the sofa was extremely dirty, the door lock was broken, and the fans. When my roommates and I went to complain the next day. They said they would do it and it was a top priority but they waited a whole day before gassing out the place but they didn't even clean it up the bugs. And when we asked them to replace the mattress, because we weren't sure if the bugs were in the bed. They took 5 whole days to replace only 1. In addition they took 6 days to replace our drier. And they still haven't cleaned the place out. We keep asking them everyday to clean the room and change the mattress, and they always give us the same answer, “we can't do it right now, because the treatment they used for the bedbugs will be affected, its a top priorities” but they NEVER END UP DOING ANYTHING. And the best part is that the bedbugs came back. I’ve been living on the floor of my friend's dorm in Carleton. I have been walking up at 5 in the morning just to bus back to get to my classes, and to eat at the dining hall. My roommates are living in a Hotel and paying 260 a day. AND THEY STILL HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING AGAIN TO FIX THE BUG situation. The rooms are still full of dead bugs, cabinets sticky, door lock broken, washroom fan broken, and sofas are nasty. We're all paying 22k for our dorm and they still wont do anything for us. When we asked for some form of compensation, they literally gave us 6 meal passes, and when we said that's not enough, they emailed us and they would send it to the higher ups. NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. Yesterday we went to ask for them to give us a time range of when they can get the room bug free, and they said it may take days or even weeks. When we asked if they could give us somewhere to temporarily live, they said they cant do it, it's STUPID POLICY. When we asked if they could pay for us to live at a hotel, they said to talk to the dorm insurance, and when we went to look, they said they MIGHT be able to pay up to 2.6k but its insurance, they will try their hardest not to pay. Any suggestions?

Yo I'm tryna be a quant I saw they make like 200k - 300k out of uni seems pretty chill. I'm currently in CS what electives should I take for the most optimal course sequence to ahcieve said goal. Would be great if any current quants could respond (preferably UOttawa Alumni).
I’m currently waitlisted (#2) for a class that’s virtual with 100 seats. Will I get in or should I go to my backup class instead

I’m starting to regret my decision to go into Health Sciences instead of Biomedical Sciences at uOttawa. I was looking through LinkedIn and noticed that most people who end up in uOttawa med school seem to come from Biomed (like 80% of them).
I thought Health Sciences would still be a solid pre-med path (with the pre-req courses), maybe even a bit easier than Biomed, and since I’m doing it in French immersion I figured it would give me a good chance. But now I’m scared because it doesn’t look like many Health Sci students make it to med, even though they say GPA is what matters most. I expected it to be more of a 50-50 split, but I keep seeing Biomed everywhere.
I don’t even know if I should try transferring into Biomed. On one hand, I don’t want to be stuck in the “wrong” program. On the other hand, I already set up my Health Sci schedule, picked teachers carefully, and worked hard to organize everything. Switching would mess all of that up, and I’m worried I’d throw away the effort I’ve put in.
Right now I just feel stuck and scared. I don’t know if I should stay in Health Sciences and focus on getting the best GPA I can, or if I should try to transfer into Biomed while I still can. Any advice from people who’ve been in the same boat would mean a lot.
Also, if I were to apply to other med schools (which typically require the Mcat unlike Ottawa), many say that biomed better prepares you for the MCAT, and that has programs integrated in the hospital, as well as research opportunities like TMM, so I’m feeling even more lost!!!

A lot of people are saying “lawyer up,” and trust me, I get it — I’m just as pissed as everyone else reading this. But my roommate brought up a good point: we’re in Canada, and suing doesn’t really work the same way here as it does in the U.S. Even if we went that route, the best-case scenario would probably just be getting reimbursed for the hotel costs, which we might be able to get through compensation/insurance anyway. It’s not like we’d end up with a big settlement.
Right now we’re still waiting on housing to respond to an email, and we’ve been told there’s a compensation process (though it feels like a runaround). Worst case, we’re thinking of taking this to local media — like CTV News Ottawa or CBC — because if this goes public, the university will actually have to get their act together.
We’re still documenting everything (photos, receipts, dates, etc.), and if housing doesn’t step up soon, we’ll go that route. At this point, I think media pressure might do more than a lawsuit.
