When I was a kid, a friend started taking the bolts off a go cart tire when it was still full of air. Why I haven't a clue. The tire exploded and the middle part shattered, sending that shrapnel right into his face. It killed him. 40 years later it still comes to me in my dreams.
This is just beyond stupid, but par for the course these days.

Taking the bolt off, like taking the whole wheel off? Why does that cause the tire to explode?

Some rims are two halves bolted together.

Whuuut. That's insane. I guess it makes putting the tire on easier? Can't think of any other benefit of having rims that come apart.

I think it was to make production easier. My dad has a Ford from the 1940s with a split rim for the spare but he doesn’t have a tire on it, just leaves it there for decoration.

Was under pressure, and when that bolt certain point all that pressure was released shattering those plates sending it into his face. They were essentially bullets

People in warzones don't save their plastic bottles to make ordinance out of, the bottle will rip before any kind of lethal force is built up inside 💁

This subreddit is the bane of my existence. It is the culmination of everything I like, but the vids are just long enough to where I don’t realize where I am at before i am blue balled with anticipation.

I did exactly this with the car washer in the back of a car dealership, one time, and when that bottle popped, it was so freaking loud that people came running out of the dealership into the parking lot, looking around, thinking that there is a gunshot. Still can’t believe how loud it was.

I tried finding the original, but it was unfortunately deleted.

Or sodium bicarbonate and an acid. Put super glue the lid on first, and don't touch it or the lid comes off like a plastic bullet.

This system was (is?) used often in rc airplanes for the wheel retraction system. I had seen in one occasion, one explode due to the high temperatures during the day, with catastrophic effects on the model.

When I was working at discount tire sometimes I used to take a water bottle and put an air valve in the cap, fill it with a little bit of water, get it to 35psi and then launch it like a grenade and watch it take off like a rocket when it hit the ground
