Product This was hot garbage.
I gave the Cappello’s pizza a shot and it was absolutely inedible. The crust has a really terrible taste that lingered for a while. Some of their other products are decent, but I would not buy this again.

Yeah, this one was bad.
I like the Sabatasso's cheese pizza from Costco.
I just brown some Italian sausage from the deli and add it on before I bake it.

I had this type for the first time, and it’s really good! Shockingly high quality cheese and a great price point.

u/bigfoodiejudy 1d ago
That's one of my favorites. I miss the days when my Costco carried it. 😕
1
u/MamaNeedsMoreCoffee 20h ago
They were gone from Costco for awhile but have been back the past few months.
1
u/bigfoodiejudy 20h ago
I hope my location gets them in! Right now, they just have the regular crust.

That’s how I felt about Against the Grain pizza. Couldn’t finish it.
2
u/drizinil 1d ago
Against the grain is really bland as is, but if you put garlic butter on the crust it is AMAZING.
1
u/MidasInGold 18h ago
This! I can NEVER get the crust to cook right. It’s like gooey in a nasty way in parts. And the cheese is like crunchy plastic sometimes.

u/troublesomefaux 1d ago
Milton’s thin and crispy is my jam (only thin and crispy!!)
6
u/celiactivism Celiac Disease 1d ago
Ate one today. I wish the sauce wasn’t so sweet. But the crust is super light and crispy, especially for the first, idk, 5-10 minutes out of the oven.
Costco is number 1 in my book but I can’t stop myself from eating a whole pizza so if I’m feeling calorie conscious I’ll eat a Milton’s instead.

u/Relevant-Angle3811 1d ago
if you live near a trader joes they make the best frozen gluten free pizza i've ever had! never had any gluten issues from it which says a lot since i have celiac. i make sure to keep at least one in my freezer all the time, they're SO good

u/w6750 1d ago
Do you know if they have a GFDF option?
2
u/PufffPufffGive 1d ago
They do not.
1
u/w6750 1d ago
Darn. Thank you!
1
u/PufffPufffGive 1d ago
They also changed to cauliflower crust and man I was so bummed They only have one gf but I can’t complain TJ slaps have you had the gaiya df gf pizzas ? My SIL loves them
1
u/w6750 1d ago
I have not, I’ve heard mixed reviews but it does seem like some people swear by them. I’m so desperate for pizza at this point I’m sure I would like it 😂
2
u/PufffPufffGive 17h ago
I bet op you could make a banging df gf pizza On your own!! Using the pre made crusts
2
u/coffeeville 1d ago
Just in case you aren’t familiar with their other products, they do have GF dough you can buy to make your own GF DF pizza. The dough is good, a little hard to roll out thin enough but the taste is great. I usually just go cheeseless because I’m not a fan of fake mozzarellas. But TJs cheddar slices and shredded mexican cheese are good for melting on sandwiches, nachos etc. The cheddar slices look kind of insane when not melted lol but they are a lot better once heated up.

u/Intelligent-Price333 1d ago
The cheese one was my least favorite. I love the other versions with toppings. That said I really like the taste of almond flour and know it's not for everyone.

u/spaghettirhymes 1d ago
My favorite of all time is Trader Joe’s GF fzn pizza. It is so dang good, I think it’s probably my favorite of any fzn pizza. You gotta put it straight on the oven rack and get it crispy and it’s fantastic.

u/bigfoodiejudy 1d ago
If you have a Safeway near you, I highly recommend the Open Nature pizza. It's my absolute favorite lazy-day meal or just solid for when I want a pizza night. 🍕

u/Sensitive_Oil_1616 1d ago
Am eating one right now😅 my favorite!! Love the margarita and the chicken alfredo ones
3
u/bigfoodiejudy 1d ago
So, the chicken alfredo was my go-to until I tried the meat lovers. 🤣 Changed my world a someone who doesn't usually eat a pizza with red sauce.

THE BEST! Perfect size for 1 person and they often go on sale. Plus, great selection of flavors.

Safeway, Randall’s, and Von’s are all the same company. I’ve seen the same store brand in all 3 stores in different states.

Bought one a few months ago. Wasn't impressed. Crust wasn't horrible, but still gave me cardboard vibes. Freschetta, Against The Grain, or Sabatasso's are still the only ones I'll regularly buy.

I like these because they don’t have rice in them. The other brand I like is Against the Grain, also no rice.

u/BlackCats2323 1d ago
I actually love this pizza, I add extra cheese, toppings, and seasonings (like I do with all frozen pizzas) and cook it in the oven on a hot cast iron.
I hate hate hate cauliflower crust pizzas. That rank cabbage aftertaste is not for pizza.

u/wondercheekin 1d ago
Meijer and Kroger carry the California Pizza Kitchen gluten free cauliflower crust pizzas are pretty good. My go to is the pepperoni and mushroom pizza and I add olives and extra cheese at home. I don't do the recommended 16mins but instead 14 plus 2 on broil at the end to really bubble up the cheese. Sprinkle oregano on top. Always amazing!

u/rg2004 1d ago
Everything I have eaten from this company has been overpriced garbage.

u/Past_Cauliflower_440 1d ago
I love their gnocchi and ravioli. But that’s all I buy on the regular from them.
2
u/mtubeowulf Celiac Disease 1d ago
If you have an Aldi nearby, they have good cauliflower pizzas. Not the frozen variety. In the refrigerated area.
2
u/Neat-Glass2803 1d ago
I don't mind these as a base, but I never eat them as is. Add seasonings, toppings, sometimes feta and they're not bad. But, it's probably telling that you have to add stuff to something that should be edible right out of the box.

I've never tried their pizzas. If I want a pizza I usually buy the cappellos crust and just add my own toppings.
2
u/Alternative_Hand_110 1d ago
I really liked this one years ago when it came out. And they changed the recipe in recent years and it really sucks. I love their gnocchi and pasta a lot
2
u/TheCookieExperiment 20h ago
Today I realized inedible and incredible are just 2 letters away and make all the difference to a pizza post. 😂

u/Pristine_Plate7048 1d ago
All gluten free pizza is garbage. The bread is garbage. Sometimes you try a new gluten free bread product and think you've found holy grail because it didn't make you gag lime the last. But over time your enthusiasm for the newer product dwindlws as you realize it is also inedible in terms of satisfaction and taste.
Every fast food gluten pizza I've ever had had the thinnest layer of ingredients ever on it. Gluten pizzas have a nice thick layer of ingredients. The thin layer of toppings makes the awful gluten free bread more prominent.

ill always stick to cauliflower crust. breads is already a complicated thing for gluten free but cauliflower crust is the one thing i think is top tier and i dont want to waste money so i always stick to it.

u/Ok_Brush_1399 22h ago
I usually go for the caulipower buffa-whoa or veggie but the store was out of both.
1
u/krittyyyyy 1d ago
I didn’t mind it, but I think I’ve only gotten it once bc it’s always the most expensive. It wasn’t great or terrible just fine.
1
u/TheReadyRedditor 1d ago
I thought the same. Didn’t even finish one piece.
1
u/Ok_Brush_1399 22h ago
I gave it two bites. The second bite to confirm it was awful, which was a mistake.
1
u/PermanentlyDubious 1d ago
Agree. It's crazy expensive and yet also tastes terrible.
Weirdly, Costco is king for their 3 pack of cheap, good GF pizzas in the frozen section.

I liked it before I developed other allergies. But I hate bread so maybe that’s why

I use the naked ones (just crust). They’re ok. Anyone know of a better crust only?

If you have a Costco membership Sabatassos is phenomenal! If you don’t have one I also love Freshetta

I really dislike their stuff. Everyone's palate is a little different, but their pepperoni tasted like wet dog food smells to me. I strongly dislike their stuff.

Has anyone found any gluten free AND dairy free pizza? Or perhaps even lactose free? I got tired of Daiya. And they switched to oat cream, so a big no now anyways.

That brand has made me sick from several of their products. I refuse to purchase their crap.

Their biscuits are really good. Enjoyed the ravioli as well. Not big servings and kinda pricey tho.

u/Stargazerlillykris77 20h ago
The new pizza at sprouts that’s gluten-free OGGI. I believe it’s called is the best and I’ve tried every gluten-free frozen on the market!!
1
u/Uh_Lee_duh 20h ago
Yep, and it gave me heartburn, which I have since figured out is triggered in me by tapioca flour. I don't know if Cappello's uses tapioca but I'm avoiding it.

Against The Grain cheese is my favorite. I don't like their pepperoni though but will add my own toppings to the cheese pizza.
1
u/Ananxiousfeminist 19h ago
My favorite is the gf Freschetta pizza by far. I’ve even had gluten eating friends say they prefer it
1
u/Biobesign 18h ago
That’s sad. Their ravioli is very good, although the butternut squash is too peppery for my taste.
1
u/ZestyStraw 18h ago
Sorry, I see almond flour and am immediately suspicious 😭 my mom made a low carb/gluten free crust with almond flour once and it was atrocious. I don't think almond flour can get crunchy really? So sorry you had to be subjected to it.
1
u/MidasInGold 18h ago
This is my absolute favorite, but then again I eat the pepperoni one so that might make a difference. It reminds me SO much of the Pizza Hut thin crust which also used to be my favorite so there’s my taste level reference lol. This is the most unique gf crust I’ve found tho It’s literally flaky.

When someone thinks of gluten free food this is what they think it tastes like lol

u/EnoughSeaweed589 17h ago
The Trader Joe’s gf cauli crust cheese pizzas are really good too and don’t taste like cauli cardboard. They have a thinner crust and overall lighter than the Sabatasso's gf cheese pizzas from Costco. But I love both, so I say stock up on both.

u/jamaiscredule 12h ago
If you can find it, try Clo Clo. We jut get crusts and make our own pizza bit they are 🔥🔥. They do have pre-topped varieties
1
u/kellistech 1h ago
Have you tried against the grain?
They even have a crust only so that you can top it yourself. I'm a big fan of a white sauce with chicken, artichoke, and sun-dried tomato.

u/89inerEcho 1d ago
If you want to set the standard in your mind for gluten free pizza, go get the cauliflower crust pizza at Trident pizza pub in Tucson. Everything after that sucks

I was quite upset when I bought one of these and it was just terrible. I didn't expect that when so many other products of theirs are quite good. Like the baking powder biscuits, those are a serious vice for me, they are so good hot from the air fryer.
2
u/ppackwood 1d ago
I love their biscuits! Can you give me directions on how you cook them in the air fryer? (temperature, etc.). Thank you!
0
u/SapphosLemonBarEnvoy 1d ago
There are air fryer instructions on the back of the package! It says to preheat the air fryer and I can tell you that it's important to do to get them to the right crust texture.

u/Normal_Boot9777 1d ago
Thank you! I've seen these but they are just so expensive. Glad to know it suuuucks. Heggies makes a great gf pizza, sausage and pep, chicken Alfredo, margarita. Extra cheese and pepperoni really seals it

Just get a fresh one at Domino's. If you have Marcos, theirs is good too.
6
u/CoderPro225 1d ago
I have yet to come across a Domino’s that is celiac safe. They all cross contaminate horribly. But if that’s not an issue for you please enjoy!
5
u/FishRoom_BSM 1d ago
I don’t even have celiac but I can’t have foods with cross contact because my symptoms will hospitalize me.
2
u/CoderPro225 1d ago
I absolutely feel you there! Got so sick from celiac a few years ago that I developed an infection and was septic. Hospitalized for a bit myself. When nurses swarm your hospital room at 1 am trying to get blood out of your dehydrated veins you know things aren’t good. 🤦♀️ That was a long, brutal recovery. These diseases we have are NOT for the faint of heart!
2
u/FishRoom_BSM 13h ago
I’m glad you made it through. Even the slightest bit of gluten makes me pee blood out of my butt. Like more than any period I’ve ever had. I’ve had to have infusions of iron and even a blood infusion because I’ve lost so much blood.
1
u/CoderPro225 7h ago
So horrible! I have so far avoided an iron deficiency but do have to take supplements for a few vitamin deficiencies. Gluten is just not kind to us at all.

u/Ok_Water_4052 1d ago
I get a 3 pack of gluten free pizzas from Costco and then add toppings and a little mozzarella on top before cooking. It’s the better option I’ve found
