Our previous coder had to leave the team and left us with a half finished movement system. Hoping someone can help us finish this up so we can convert it into a plugin for others to use and use it for our own little project.

looking for team (unpaid) 17 Days Ago, I Made a Post Here. It Got Downvoted. But We Started Anyway.

Hey r/godot,

- A little over two weeks ago, I made a post here asking if anyone wanted to join me in building a game. It wasn't the most popular post, 2K views and a lot of down votes i guess lol, but more importantly, two people joined the team! We’ve formed a little group called POD Studios.

  • You can check out my original post here: Old Post

Now, 17 days later, I want to show you the progress we've made.

We've been having fun, learning as we go, and we even have our first playable prototype! The video below shows what we’ve created in Godot so far—a stylized parkour game.

We're still looking for more people to join us!

This isn't a for-profit project; it's a place to learn, experiment, and have fun. We're just a group of people passionate about Godot who want to get better at making games.

  • For Beginners: If you're new to Godot and GDScript, this is a great way to jump into a real project, contribute to something tangible, and learn alongside others. We’ll all be helping each other out.
  • For Experts: If you're an experienced developer, your knowledge would be invaluable. You can try out new techniques, explore creative ideas, and help guide the team. We would love for you to join and help spark our creativity!

If you're interested in joining our journey, let us know in the comments or send me a message. We're a friendly team, and the more, the merrier!

Anyway, This is our Discord Server now : POD Studios , and also check out GitHub and take a look weekly to see the progress, because the game is for educations and learning and we are really happy to stand and help each other .

looking for team (unpaid) Updates on the skateboard project!

Currently in the process of completely rewriting the player controller away from the vehiclebody3d controller and in the process of completely redoing the animation system, but thought I'd share progress from just before the rebuild.

I recently got a new skateboard model for the project that I'll show off in another post.

Still looking for some help on the project to be able to really push it to a solid prototype.

Would love to hear what you guys think + any suggestions!

looking for team (unpaid) Looking for a learning buddy.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for someone to learn Godot with. Right now, I'm using Godot 4.3 stable, but I'd like to move to 4.4 once it releases.

I want to explore all aspects of game development since it's something I really enjoy, but I keep running into roadblocks. I feel like a lot of these could be overcome more easily with some teamwork.
after all, we're social creatures.

Sitting alone at my PC, trying to dig up obscure knowledge online, can get frustrating, and before I know it, I end up just playing games instead of making them.

I love 2D and 3D, And I like to make all assets In-house.

If you're in the same boat and want to learn together, hit me up!

[edit]

I saw people liked the Idea of a discord, and it would be fun to grow a Community.

I made a quick Discord for people to join, still need to come up with a good name and art.

Hi!

I am working on a top down pixel art style game inspired by the likes of Stardew Valley (see screenshots). I have designed (not published) several board games, I love game design, and I am an avid gamer. This is my first PC project and I had to learn everything from scratch. I do everything my self from the code (with help from AI) and art (with insperation from internet), and i draw in Aseprite. My biggest issue is that i am not a very good coder.

To keep the fun in doing the project and also to save a lot of time on places i get stuck with the code - i am looking for someone who wants to join this project doing the code. I am currently using ChatGPT to help me out and it is very frustrating at times when both i and ChatGPT struggle on the simplest of things because of my bad skill level with code.

This is my first post on this forum - so i do hope it is well recieved! If you are interested please let me know! I have to emphasize how much fun i think this is - and it is a dream of mine to acctually have a game done. I have a lot of cool ideas for the story (no spoilers) and hope i can find someone to share this passion with me!

Thank you!

-Ron

looking for team (unpaid) Looking for more game devs to join our casual community!

Heyo everyone,

We've got a small, friendly group of game devs who hang out and chat, and we're looking to add a few more people to the mix.

Right now, we've got peeps working with Unity, Godot, and even one person building their own engine from scratch. We also have some artists in the discord so it's a great place to get different perspectives.

We do a weekly update every Sunday where we share what we've been working on. It's a low-pressure way to stay accountable and get inspired by seeing what everyone else is up to. We also playtest each other's builds and just generally talk about game dev and whatever else is on our minds.

There's no paid stuff or anything like that – just a bunch of people passionate about making games.

If you're looking for a chill community to be a part of, send me a DM!

looking for team (unpaid) Messing around with a 2D pixel art MMO idea — anyone want to team up?

Hi everyone!

I’ve been messing around with the idea of a 2D pixel art game inspired by Stardew Valley, Habbo, and Argentum Online, with plans to turn it into an MMO someday.

Here’s what the game takes from each:

  • Stardew Valley: farming, resource gathering, crafting, dungeon levels, NPC development, and relationship building.
  • Habbo: owning and customizing your own terrain, decorating it with a catalog of items, and deep character customization including hair, clothing, and more.
  • Argentum Online: classes, races, leveling up characters, killing monsters for gold, PvP system, and a strong focus on roleplaying.

I’m not too attached to the idea yet and don’t plan to invest money into it, but I’m curious if anyone wants to collaborate, share ideas, or just have fun building something together.

If this sounds interesting or you’re working on something similar, feel free to reach out!

looking for team (unpaid) would you join a cooperatively owned game publisher and distributor?

so, with recent rulings coming out against the app store monopolies, and it's looking like apple/google might require apps to be represented more fairly by a wider range of distribution channels some times in the future, would yall like to talk and explore ideas about a set of cooperatively owned (game devs, game buyers) companies that could offer an alternative to the duopoly on both platforms?

we can also discuss a game client/distribution channel for other platforms (like an itch-leaning, fuller functioned steam alternative) that's also cooperatively owned? (would it be anticompetitive of us if we offered a cross platform experience with our own client? lol?) or if anyone is also interested, coop game publishers, or cooperatively owned game development studios! skys the limit!

let me know! anyone interested just ask and i can dm you the discord

looking for team (unpaid) Programming buddy for any game

Hey! 👋 I’m looking for someone to collaborate with on a Godot project — not in live sessions, but by working independently and sharing progress through GitHub.

🎯 What I bring:

I enjoy programming in GDScript and thinking through gameplay logic, AI behavior, scene structure, etc.

I’m consistent and organized when it comes to coding and project structure.

I’m always open to feedback and like keeping things clean and modular.

❌ What I'm not great at:

I’m not a designer or artist — visuals, UI, and overall aesthetics are not my strong side. If that’s your strength, we’d complement each other well!

🤝 What I’m looking for:

Someone who wants to build something in Godot (2D or 3D) and is comfortable working independently.

You’ll push updates or features to GitHub, and we’ll give each other feedback or build on top of what the other has done.

Communication can be async — via GitHub issues, Discord, or anything lightweight.

If this sounds good to you, send me a message or drop a comment. Let's build something cool together! 🚀

My skill is mainly as a Software engineer, so i can help with:

This is a passion project for me, I really loved the duality mechanics of spectre divide. It was such a good game but sadly it got discontinued, now I wanted to make an open source version of the game in Godot 4.4. I need a few good peeps who would from the kindness of their heart help me make this game a reality, I need someone good at 3d modelling and Godot animations and a few guys who have a good idea about Godot and want something on their portfolio.

looking for team (unpaid) Let's Build a Mobile Parkour Roguelike Together! - Looking for Team Members!

Hey r/godot community!

  • Have you ever wanted to be part of creating a video game? I have an exciting idea for a mobile game, and I'm looking to gather a team of passionate individuals to bring it to life collaboratively. This isn't about your current skill level or years of experience; it's about learning, growing, and taking meaningful steps into the world of video game development together.

Why Volunteer? - This project is a fantastic opportunity for everyone, regardless of their background:

Experienced Developers: You can further hone your skills, explore new areas of game development, and gain valuable experience in leading and mentoring others. Perhaps you've always wanted to try a specific technique or contribute to a different aspect of game creation – this is your chance!

Beginners: This is the perfect environment to learn the ropes of game development firsthand. You'll get to work alongside more experienced individuals, understand the different stages of game creation, and contribute to a real project. No prior experience is strictly necessary; a willingness to learn and contribute is what matters most. We'll help each other every step of the way.

  • Our Game Idea: Mobile Parkour Roguelike We'll be creating a fast-paced, procedurally generated parkour game for mobile platforms, heavily inspired by the core mechanics and feel of Haste: Broken Worlds.

  • We're focusing on mobile for a few key reasons: 1 - Accessibility: Mobile gaming is incredibly accessible. Almost everyone owns a smartphone, making our game potentially available to a vast audience. 2 - Wider Reach: The mobile market is huge, offering a greater potential for people to discover and play our creation. 3 - Ideal for On-the-Go Play: The fast-paced, replayable nature of a parkour roguelike is perfect for short bursts of gameplay on mobile devices.

  • Core Mechanics (Inspired by Haste: Broken Worlds): Imagine a game where players navigate a series of dynamically generated levels using fluid parkour movements: 1 - Fast-Paced Movement: Running, jumping, wall-running, sliding – creating a sense of speed and momentum. 2 - Procedural Level Generation: Each playthrough will offer a unique layout with different obstacles, challenges, and opportunities. 3 - Roguelike Elements: Permadeath (with potential for unlocks and progression between runs), randomized items or abilities, and a focus on replayability. 4 - Simple and Intuitive Mobile Controls: Designed specifically for touchscreens, focusing on easy-to-learn but challenging-to-master inputs.

Timeline & Team Size: It's hard to say exactly how long development will take, especially with a volunteer team. However, with a core team of around 10 active individuals with diverse skills (programmers, artists, designers, etc.), we could aim to have a playable prototype within a few months, with further development depending on the team's progress and commitment. The key is consistent, collaborative effort.

Ready to Jump In?

Hi, I’m Pecsitonic I’m a developer working on a mobile game inspired by Miitomo, featuring lowpoly graphics and a nostalgic vibe that brings back the charm of classic games.

Looking for:

Programmers

Composers to create the original soundtrack (OST) (style to be discussed)

Why am I looking for a team? I know that a great game is more than just art and design. I’m looking for creative people who can bring their technical and musical talent to the project, helping shape it into something truly special.

What will we create? The goal is to build a unique experience inspired by Miitomo, Tomodachi Life, Little Big Planet, Club Penguin, and classic Xbox 360 titles — blending social interaction, customization, and fun in a cozy virtual world.

Interested? Contact me on Discord: pecsitonic_

Hi, I’m Kami! I’ve been making games in Roblox for a while, but now I’m looking to gather a team to make a completely new horror game that’s not limited to Roblox. The game will take inspiration from Julian & Friends and other early-2000s style horror adventures, blending creepy, unsettling moments with the aesthetic of a eerie, kid-friendly world gone wrong.

The story follows Tick-Tock Tommy, a clock-themed character who is late for work. While trying to reach his job, players will help his friends around town complete missions, uncover hidden secrets, and face small, escalating horror events throughout the world. The goal is to gradually build tension, making the eventual climax — when Tommy finally reaches work to discover all his coworkers dead with the ominous message “YOU’RE LATE” — even more impactful. Gameplay will be point-and-click adventure style, with environmental puzzles, interactive characters, and collectible items that gradually reveal the story. I want the game to feel like a nostalgic early-2000s adventure that’s deceptively cute, slowly turning dark and unsettling.

I’m looking for someone experienced with Unity, Unreal, Godot, or another engine to handle coding, game logic, and implementation. I’ll contribute 3D models, voice acting, and art assets, and help piece everything together. My laptop isn’t powerful, so I’m mainly looking for someone who can handle the technical side and help bring this world to life.

If you’re interested in collaborating on a fun, unique horror project for platforms like Steam, Game Jolt, Itch.io, and more, please DM me. Thank you so much for your time, and I can’t wait to work with someone who’s passionate about creating something amazing!

looking for team (unpaid) 3D Survival Horror set in a Submarine. Looking for small team of coders.

Hi! I’ve been working on a personal project about waking up, alone, deep underwater. The game is set in a heavily worn submarine stranded at the bottom of an unknown ocean. The player must scrounge resources from the seafloor to repair their vessel and hopefully return to the surface. The atmosphere I’m aiming for borrows heavily from games like Iron Lung and Carbon Steel. However, I’ve found it quite difficult as an amateur developer to maintain momentum while working on the game entirely on my own.

I’ve put together a small notion website of the design and concepts planned for the game here.

While I’ve made progress on some of the systems and groundwork needed for the game to function, progress has been slow on my own and I’m looking for beginner / intermediate programmers familiar with GDScript to help me work on more than one feature at a time. As well as this, any 3D asset designers are more than appreciated as for the time being the game has been constructed primarily with primitives as I figure out the fundamentals.

As of right now plans are to release a free demo of the tutorial and first stage of the game on itch.io and then look into funding for a larger game as a whole. Due to the lack of budget for this first phase, development of the demo is considered a rev-share agreement wherein funds generated through any donations are distributed evenly between contributors (provided contribution consists of a period of at least 2 months.)

I am re-introducing my design proposal from a post made a while back on the godot cafe forum in the hopes of bringing on some new developers interested in the idea. Since this is a hobby project and not paid contract work it’s generally understood that people who join this project may also lose steam over time. This is understandable and I won’t hold you to it. Those who have dropped the project still left me with some valuable new insight that has helped me throughout my work so far.

My timezone is (UTC+1)

Any other questions, let me know :)

Please let me know if this kind of post isn’t allowed.

I’m hoping to connect with new Godot developers so we can encourage each other, share tips, and collaborate on small projects/Game jams.

I’ve set up a small, invite-only Discord server for beginners. Someone posted something similar a few days ago but they deleted it (not sure why).

If you’re interested, feel free to reach out!
