Sometimes, Google Search takes autocorrect way too far.
This actually happened and it's not AI generated antisemitic content, just clarifying in advance.
Google President Praised MAGA Speech Slamming ‘Climate Extremist Agenda’. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum told an AI conference that data centers should be powered by coal, gas, and nuclear. Ruth Porat said his “comments were fantastic.”

Google Pours $9B Into AI & Cloud in Oklahoma, Massive Tech Investment That Could Boost to the Jobs
Is Google getting worse? - Cant do basic currency conversion...
Despite the comma being a very common way to display decimals in European currencies, this seems to totally break Google auto currency conversion!

Ex-Google AI Lead Says PhDs Are Already Outdated, argues soft skills + adaptability matter more than years of study. With AI moving faster than academia, maybe the real edge isn’t deep theory but knowing how to pivot when things break.

Google Search Themes
I just noticed that Google Ads bumped up the search themes from 25 to 50. Anyone noticed any changes in their campaigns because of this? Would love to hear if it's making a difference for you!

I can't revert to my 2TB non-AI storage after trying a free month of AI pro
I saw an offer for a free month of Google AI Pro. Ordered it and immediately cancelled, so I wouldn't have to pay when it renews. Then I got a message that my Google One membership would expire at the end of the month and I would lose my storage. The storage that I have had for years.
There was literally no other way of cancelling the free month. Why didn't it just revert to my old membership?
Anyway, now I want to book the same storage I had (2 TB premium for €99,99 annually). When I press this option, I get directed to a different page where it is not even visible as an option. Only 2TB AI premium, 5TB premium etc.

Apple vs. Google
Recently, I've switched from iCloud to Google One personally for the cheaper rates when I upgrade plans and how well connected it is to other apps. After that switch to GO, it feels like there's no point in having an Apple phone. The only thing that's stopping me is my iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The only thing I really care about having connected to my phone is my watch, which can easily be replaced by a Google device.
I'm getting to the point soon, dw. Do you guys think I should switch over to a Google-based phone? I like the performance and freedom on them a lot better than iOS, although I like the UI and user-friendliness on iOS a little better.
Pls drop your opinions, I'll read 'em all!

If ai overview was a person, I would empty a mag on it. Full auto even
I never thought I would harbor any kind of hatred towards a feature on anything ever because I never have no matter how dogshit it is but that changes when Ai Overview exist.
This thing is the amalgamation of that one guy who thinks he knows it all and that one dude who couldn't read the room so everybody just stare at him until he shut his mouth.
I cannot go one search without typing "-Ai" on whatever I'm searching cause if I don't, that fuckass Ai overview will come in, present incorrect information and goes "eRm aKthUali, tHis tHing tHat exIst acTuaLi neVer eXistEd. HEres a LiNk thAt conTraDict mE bTw 🤓☝️"
For an example, I've been searching up certain things related to monster hunter and this is when the "overly confident yet still wrong by an absurd amount" shit becomes more apparent. Just for the fuck of it and to test how brain-dead the ai is, I searched "Is Lagombi Armour good for Tundra areas in monster hunter" and to those who never play the game, maps may have weather conditions and some armour combat it by making you immune to the negative effects of that environment. Lagombi armour combat's the cold making you immune to it
With that being said, Ai overview in all of its wisdom says "No, The Lagombi armour is not suitable for tundra areas." Really, a piece of clothing with "cold cancel" as a skill, which makes you immune to cold weather is bad for cold weather? Next you're gonna tell me raincoat is bad in the rain and twerking in front of a seven eleven makes me biologically immortal because the kinetic energy of my ass bouncing at supersonic speed reap the soul of nearby crackhead Shang Tsung style.
To further test how stupidly incorrect it is, I asked yet another monster hunter related question: is there "Psychic" skill on Tigrex armour?
Now for reference, psychic in monster hunter is a skill that let you detect the main objective in a map passively without using any kind of tracking device especially in the old games and tigrex armour is very well known for it.
Ai overview however says "No, Tigrex armour has no "Psychic skill" on it."
Outside of these, it also likes to chime in when it feels like it but at times it just doesn't appear when you search for something and want it to answer your stuff. What the fuck is the point of this thing being a feature if it has a "when I feel like it, I'll pop up" meter? When you DON'T need it, it'll yap and give you nonsensical answer but when you DO need it, it give you a cute little "Ai overview has no answer for this 😍"
That reminds me of something when typing this even if tis slightly out of topic, YouTube Ai summarizing feature. It supposedly "describe" what the video is but here's the thing; that's what the fucking title of a video does. All it does is REPEAT what the title of a video already told you and it's the biggest contender for "I'll appear when I feel like it" feature because 99/100 of the video don't have these thing, except for a very small select of videos because the features feels like appearing. Like what the fuck is the point then?? You just create one of the most intrusive, stupid as fuck features NOBODY ask for, not even itself.
Tl;Dr: if ai overview was a living breathing person, I would slime it for free AND at affordable price.

[Feature Request] Monthly Emergency SOS Test Drill
For the same reason I have to do weekly Fire Alarm Test at work.
The way I see it:
You receive notification at chosen by you time and how often (or even random) and go through whole SOS DRILL.
Reason - many people do not even know how to activate this feature (actually both of them Sattelite SOS and cellular SOS) and yes there is demo which few people used once and... FORGOT and in stress situation (real accident they... FORGET) for THE SAME REASON at work you have Fire Alarm Test to do everything AUTOMATICALLY.

Made by Google 2025 got more than 5x more viewers than previous years
The celebrity filled, Jimmy Fallon overloaded Made by Google event didn't go down well here, as it was clearly not aimed at the people you'd expect it to be aimed at (Pixel fans, tech fans). The general reaction here seems to be that it was an awful misstep.
Even this who could see the effect was aimed at iPhone users and the general public made the very fair argument that there was no point aiming the event at non-fans because who else would be watching!
But the event has 7 million views so far on YouTube compared to just 1.3m views for last year's event and 1.2m for 2023.
Maybe they knew what they were doing after all...
