Apple vs. Google
Recently, I've switched from iCloud to Google One personally for the cheaper rates when I upgrade plans and how well connected it is to other apps. After that switch to GO, it feels like there's no point in having an Apple phone. The only thing that's stopping me is my iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch. The only thing I really care about having connected to my phone is my watch, which can easily be replaced by a Google device.
I'm getting to the point soon, dw. Do you guys think I should switch over to a Google-based phone? I like the performance and freedom on them a lot better than iOS, although I like the UI and user-friendliness on iOS a little better.
Pls drop your opinions, I'll read 'em all!

The UI and user-friendly-ness on a pixel takes maybe a few days to get used to and you will likely no longer think that. I switched from iPhone to pixel and have no regrets. That said, I've stayed on mac products for everything else, MacBook pro for work and iPad (mini and pro), Mac mini, MacBook pro for home use. I mostly use chrome so most things are pretty seamless.

I think the pixel tablet and pixel watch 4 are pretty good these days. There isn't as premium a chromebook and the phone hub is pretty crap compared to apple's integration. I don't think the pixel phones are quite there yet but the samsungs are pretty hood. The pixel phones have occasional lag and are more software than quality hardware resulting in a less smooth experience when you zoom, switch between lots of apps. The notifications are much nicer on android.

Imo Pixels are way user-friendlier. My grandparents had a very hard on iOS, everything is b&w and hidden, and yet feels messier somehow.

So like most of the ecosystem?

You realize that all of the apps that would make use of your Google One subscription work just as well on iOS?
I have a Google One subscription as well but have never felt particularly encumbered by using iOS over Android.

Aside from the blue/green bubble that teenager girls care, it takes little effort switching from iOS to Android. Very similar experience . Also a lot of hybrid users with Android phones and MacBooks.

I realised that Apple just adds another layer to access the web. It's my fault for overrelying on Google services, but it's hard to avoid them. By using apple I feel that I'm sharing my data with Apple and Google. Apple doesn't have any essential service / app, but it's hard not to use any of Google's offerings. I was an apple fanboy but now I feel it's a redundant company that ultimately just complicates the user experience.
Oh, and the iPhone takes terrible photos. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra has a proper camera, for example. That used to be a determinant factor for having an Apple device. No more.

Keep searching. Don't spend time or $$$ on Google products. You're dealing with the Devil... ๐๐บ๐ธ

Do it. You will have since issues here and there. But there are more pros than cons, IMHO.
I would suggest going to a Google store first and trying it out.
Think about your daily routine. Then your weekly routine. There maybe times that you didn't use something in your iPhone daily but you do weekly. Think about when you travel. Think about your accessories. Do you play games? What about music?
