And US carmakers are wondering why their cars don’t sell in Japan. Even their supposedly “small” cars are on the bigger end when brought here.

I mean first of all, the pickup truck in question is Japanese.

Second, US carmakers are well aware of the situation and don't even try to sell most of their cars in Japan as a result. There's no confusion or wondering going on.

Right that's basically what I'm saying. All these big trucks, they're not sold in Japan because they're not meant to be sold in Japan.

Like, nobody in the automotive industry is confused about why the Japanese market isn't into giant trucks while the US market is. They're different cultures and so you market different products to them.

The US automakers could if they wanted to, invest into building cars tailored to the Japanese market... But they've clearly done the math and decided other markets are more fruitful and their connection to the Japanese market is mostly via mergers and partnerships.

I don’t know about you, but the US seems very confused about things right now. No other explanation possible for what’s going on in that country.

You're talking about very, very different things here.

Yes, politically, things are messy in the US right now, putting it generously.

But that's quite different from whether US car companies know why they don't sell their US models in Japan.... This is something they've known and understood for much longer than the current political chaos.

Are you genuinely that dense? That because, here in the GT subreddit in a conversation about GT... I didn't go right into a rant about all the scary fascist shit happening under Trump.... that means I'm not aware of it? Not worried and terrified by it?

You're clearly a fucking moron if you believe US car makers are "confused" as to why they voluntarily don't sell many models in Japan.
