We're finally not a third class platform!

We still are man we had to wait 3 years 😭

At least we got enhanced enhancements like RTAO

RTGI too whatever that means. Is that full rt lighting like path tracing?

Also no hdr mention in the blog but I'm hoping for a surprise.

its the good kind of RT. basically it calculates light bouncing for more accuracy lighting. it really helps bring the image together

I don't think so because path tracing would simulate every single light source I believe? I think RTGI would mostly apply to the sun/moon lighting the environment but I might be way off

RTGI has a more limited amount of rays projected, I think. So while it is not as accurate as path tracing, it can still provide some nice quality improvement with a lower performance cost

I'll take it. I assume under the tables in corners will be darkened? Those kinds of areas really break immersion when going back and playing standard lighting games.

Where'd you read about RTGI?

RTGI is Ass. Its some of the more barebones raytracing there is

Incorrect.

You must be thinking of RTAO

RTGI is the big one of the main-three:

Raytraced Shadows

Raytraced Reflections

Raytraced Global Illumination

Usually RTGI is the big game changer while the other two can be "nice"

Of course path tracing beats it all.

RT is just diet path tracing

Still angry for the long delay though. It's like a long lockdown.

It's annoying that PC is always an afterthought for them but financially it's understandable I guess. Apparently the PC version accounts for only about 10% of their revenue from GTA.

And no small amount of issues. Hackers are such an issue on PC, it makes public lobbies unplayable

6

u/AFRIKKAN Feb 21 '25

Yea console best qualities are the ease of access and lack of hacking. Has its own cons but those two are huge for some.

3

u/InsertEvilLaugh Feb 21 '25

I'd consider console for certain games, to escape the hackers, but I still find it robbery to require paying for XBox Live/PS+ so that you can play games you've purchased. Also I still find keyboard and mouse far superior for shooting and certain tasks.

u/Miggsie Feb 21 '25

yeah, too many issues. As to the cheats, it's no where near as bad as it was before they installed the anti-cheat, public lobbies are playable now, you still get griefers, but they can be dealt with.

u/InsertEvilLaugh Feb 21 '25

Hope they implement it into RDO, cause it's horrid there too, or at the very least let us do stuff in private lobbies there too.

(You'll still have to wait a year+ for GTA 6)

u/heyuhitsyaboi Feb 20 '25

dont remind me

12

u/TEKC0R Feb 20 '25

Oh don't worry, Rockstar still hates PC. They'll prove it again when they announce that GTA6 with be console exclusive for the first decade of its life.

2

u/ScubaSteve2324 Feb 20 '25

It’s already been announced that PC isn’t launching until at least year later than the console versions of GTA 6

5

u/TEKC0R Feb 20 '25

Except Rockstar has not yet announced that. The release date is still unknown. It could be the same as console, but I think we all expect it won't be. There's rumors, speculation from Corsair, some article on Medium with no sources... but nothing confirmed by Rockstar. At least not that I can find.

GTA 6 release date has entered the session

not saying you specifically are one of these people but after years of PC people slagging off consoles for being lesser this kind of comment from people is kinda funny

I totally agree and the downvotes say enough

I mean, consoles are lesser, I have a ps5 and pc, my pc doesn’t even run as many games as the ps5 because it’s older, I grew up a Xbox player, but pc is literally just better, there isn’t extreme limitations for one, and they have many more pc exclusive games that everyone plays on. You also don’t have to pay extra to play online which is nice.
