Wow, so the R* website says support for DLSS 3 will come as well. This is huge! I was worried FPS will drop due to RT, but I guess we’re gonna be okay.

This also paves way for 6, wherein we can safely assume whenever it comes for PC will have DLSS support.

Recommend GPU as per R* is a 3060: 8GB VRAM.

I wonder if we will be able to use DLSS Swapper to update the dlss to DLSS 4. I've done it in other DLSS suported games, but for this, the anti cheat will problably prevent it.

84

u/SkyLLin3 PC Feb 20 '25

The anticheat might trigger, but doesn't have to. I replaced DLSS 3 with 4 in some games with anticheat and I didn't get banned or anything. I hope it will be as easy with GTA.

3

u/TimothyWasTaken Feb 21 '25

I know I'm late but a simple .dll swap like that won't get you banned. It would be something like Fortnite where if you swapped it with an updated version then DLSS would be disabled or straight up not work as the AntiCheat detects if you change the game files.
Apparently some people got it to work so keep this in mind https://www.reddit.com/r/FortNiteBR/comments/1imqi3h/rantdiscussion_dlss_4_is_here_still_no_update_for/mc4ybct/

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Do you think it might trigger if I have vpn on? I only use it for the daily wheel spin as we can't use it in our country.

4

u/pokopingos Feb 20 '25

Doesn’t trigger for nord VPN for me

3

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

That's what I'm using,so i presume that I'm safe yeah?

2

u/pokopingos Feb 20 '25

Yeah dw about it much, I’ve recently played with modded files as well, battleye doesn’t do much

3

u/ksx0 Feb 20 '25

I’ve been using VPN constantly, don’t think a VPN would cause a ban. Once, I switched to Poland and found out the Casino bets weren’t available. Alt f4’d and switched VPN back to my own country then the bets were available again.

3

u/Virtualized_Potato Feb 20 '25

I've used both Windscribe and Proton VPN and it has worked just fine.

42

u/shball Feb 20 '25

I think you can force DLSS4 with the Nvidia App, not quite sure how it works though.

18

u/SirCollapse Feb 20 '25

Doesn’t work with all games sadly. On the other hand, I’ve heard NVIDIA Profile Inspector does basically the same thing for basically any game

9

u/4514919 Feb 20 '25

That's the last thing you want to do in an online game.

Redirecting game DLLs to external ones is exactly how cheats get flagged.

3

u/CharlesMcGrath Feb 20 '25

I'm just happy we'll have something to play until GTA 6 comes out on 6/6/26

1

u/CQC_EXE Feb 21 '25

The DLSS swapper in the app works on a majority of DLSS 3 games. It mostly the DLAA and ultra performance toggle that is blocked. The games just need to be whitelisted to have the option on, and Nvidia profile inspector can bypass this and toggle each of these settings on and off. No worry about anti cheat or anything as it's using the official app.

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 20 '25

Tell you what. I’m not even gonna try it. Absolutely don’t want to get account banned/PC banned. Need to play 6 on the same PC, can’t risk it. I’m sure DLSS 3 will be sufficient.

17

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Dlss 3 is nowhere near 4 in terms of clarity.

So we have a problem, chief.

I guess it's time I replayed on the strangers and freaks side missions. Cant ban me in single player I hope.

5

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 20 '25

Well, I’m not risking it.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

I already have everything I want in online. And have done everything I want. If they want it they can have it. Oh no I will have to play all the great single player stories I missed while grinding gto for 699 hours over the years.

Gladly.

5

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 20 '25

The risk I’m talking of is more for 6. If they ban my OC hardware, I’m fucked. I intend to play 6 on my same PC.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Is that a thing they do?

5

u/MrBootylove Feb 20 '25

I can't say if Rockstar does it, but hardware and IP bans are relatively common in the PC gaming space.

5

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 20 '25

Don’t even wanna find out. Kernel level AC have this capability. It happens in our games.

2

u/TooTallTabz Feb 20 '25

Considering R* didn't even want their games on PC, in the first place, I think they're a bit stricter with those players. They hate mods and cheaters.

3

u/SwimmingAbalone9499 Feb 20 '25

dlss 3 was still incredible before 4, it doesn’t somehow get worse.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

It doesnt get worse but people become more accepting to its flaws. like how theres a layer of fuzziness. id rather it looks clear like Michael bay's transformer model.

2

u/sykoKanesh PC - sykotikOG - L657 - $250+ mill Feb 22 '25

Yeah, but how many people are actually going to need DLSS? You can always just turn the graphics down and use native resolution.

IF that's even necessary, which it probably won't be.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '25

well i hope they add a psycho setting for the global illumination, so it looks good. dont want just the sun. lamps too would be nice.

the thing is if you dont use dlss for anti aliasing gta kinda shimmers or crawls on certain surfaces life fences or straight poles. so instead of breaking the bank with msaa (the only aa that doesnt blur the whole image) gives us dlss. can always use DLAA.

1

u/sykoKanesh PC - sykotikOG - L657 - $250+ mill Feb 22 '25

Yeah, I'm hoping for (and going with) DLAA as well. I'm only rocking a 60hz 1080p monitor, so DLSS doesn't even make sense for me personally.

I figure a lot of folks are probably in that same boat.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '25

gonna be a great send off to see gta 5 in a new light right before the next era unfolds

happy hunting

1

u/sykoKanesh PC - sykotikOG - L657 - $250+ mill Feb 22 '25

I'm diggin' it bro! Can't wait to check it out!

1

u/SnooMarzipans1416 Feb 20 '25

I heard the pc version is going to take sometime to come out. Hopefully not too long I want to use my pc too.

-4

u/Just_Cruzin84 Feb 20 '25

Thank you. I honestly don’t even know what you guys are talking about but it sounds gray so seeing your comment saying that you will choose to not CHEAT at least gives me some hope for others. Thank you.

4

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 20 '25 edited Feb 21 '25

It’s not a “cheat” per se. What we’re saying is the BattleEye might think of it as one and ban us, since it’s kernel level.

The “thing” we were talking about it is how R* say they’ll support DLSS 3, but Nvidia has rolled out DLSS 4. And there’s workaround wherein you can play with some config files and “force” any game to use DLSS 4 instead of 3, as DLSS 4 is much better. Since we need to change a game file/config file, kernel level AC might flag it. Hence, I’m not risking it. I’ll be content with DLSS 3 until R* supports DLSS 4 officially.

2

u/Just_Cruzin84 Feb 20 '25

Gotcha. Ok well I hope it does work out so you guys can enjoy the game as well. 👍🏻

1

u/H3LLGHa5T Feb 21 '25

well it should be fine to force it in Nvidia App as it's an official tool, if Nvidia enables the feature. Using Inspector is a different story, people have gotten banned (although rarely) for using it to tweak settings outside of Nvidia control panel can do, while I've never heard about anyone getting banned over using official driver tools apart from that AMD Anti Lag story which was AMDs fault and the bans were lifted consequently...

2

u/BravoMI6 Feb 20 '25

Cant you force the new K driver(or whatever the dlss4 is) anyway with the NVIDIA App?

2

u/MazdaRotaryPT Feb 20 '25

Preset K (transformer model) only works if you also update the DLSS dll to 310 version (DLSS 4). If the game releases with version 3.8 or previous (DLSS 3), it wont work.

2

u/BravoMI6 Feb 20 '25

Sooo..do we know what Version they are releasing?

1

u/MazdaRotaryPT Feb 20 '25

Not really. It could also be that the game releases with the latest dll version, while only supporting DLSS 3 features. In that case it would be possible to enable the transformer model.

1

u/Evers1338 Feb 21 '25

If you force the override through the Nvidia app it overrides that shouldn't be needed, that's the whole point of it, that you no longer need to manually swap dll files and instead can switch to the present you want through the app.

1

u/justlovehumans Feb 20 '25

just swap it yourself. It's as simple as downloading the .dll and replacing it in the correct NVIDIA folder in the games location. If anticheat hates this, it'll either replace it on launch itself or fail to launch until you verify files.

1

u/RoR_Icon_God Feb 20 '25

Where can I download the DLSS 4 .dll?

2

u/justlovehumans Feb 21 '25

google dlss download. What's with kids these days lol

it's the techpowerup link.

1

u/Hughjarse Feb 20 '25

I don't know jack shit about how you change it, but if it's in the settings file located in > Documents >Rockstar Games, it won't trigger any ban as that's not game files

1

u/Megafister420 Feb 21 '25

"Anti cheat"

1

u/Hije5 Feb 21 '25

That would be spectacular. DLSS 3 sucks. I always opted never to use it because it always made everything slightly blurry no matter the sharpness. DLSS 4 is lightyears ahead of it. It still isn't the best with dark visuals, but in lit areas, I can't see a difference between off/on. I've been playing KCD2, and everything looks spectacular.

1

u/AstroCon Feb 21 '25

Doubtful the anticheat will catch it. Kernel-level anticheats are looking for suspicious memory activity during runtime, I would be very surprised if battleye freaks out from the directx DLL being swapped.

22

u/Meddel5 Feb 20 '25

Super excited to see how it runs, this is kinda that moment where we learn just how good R* is at optimization

2

u/yar2000 Feb 22 '25

They made GTA5 run on a PS3, they’re good at it if they want to.

The problem is that GTA runs on an engine and code that is so old by now that its probably completely scuffed. Just look how great RDR2 looks, and that runs 2 times better than GTAO in a full lobby.

u/bradene7 Feb 20 '25 edited Feb 20 '25

Still rocking my 2080 SUPER, strong!

3

u/Ok-Salary1474 Feb 20 '25

My 1070 rocking even stronger!!

2

u/RazzmatazzIll6705 Feb 20 '25

2080 SUPER here!

1

u/bradene7 Feb 20 '25

When did you get yours? I got mine like 3 months before the 30 series was released lmao

2

u/RazzmatazzIll6705 Feb 20 '25

Had mine since when it first came out for EVGA, friend of mine helped me build a pc then lol, then fast forward to a few months ago I built another PC my self and decided it's not time to seperate myself from the GPU so i just stuck it in my new build lol. Pretty powerful card card tho, I play 1440P and still get atleast 90FPS high settings for most games I get like 90-100FPS GTA ONLINE (high settings ish)

1

u/bradene7 Feb 20 '25

Haha I’m in a similar scenario! Wanna build a new pc with a new theme but was waiting for the new cards. Now I’m thinking I should wait a couple more years 😂

I’ll probably keep my card just cause it’s a EVGA one tho

1

u/Snowman319 Feb 20 '25

Is it still good for 1440p? I hear it’s a 1080p card these days but maybe that was the 2070 people were talking about

4

u/LOLGotYerTags Feb 20 '25

2080 can do 4k on a good bunch of modern games if you utilise DLSS, And if we get DLSS overrides on GTAV then your mileage will go further due to the newer models.

1

u/Snowman319 Feb 20 '25

That’s definitely a great thing to hear about then! Ahh true overdrive is a neat new feature but definitely needs more support

2

u/LOLGotYerTags Feb 20 '25

You only need to look at Rockstars implementation of DLSS in RDR2 to get a good feel as to how it'll make GTAV run.

Up until its swansong my 2080ti FE was running RDR2 at 4k on all altra, ok I had to set DLSS to quality but on GTAV I could do native 4k.

The new RT stuff is gonna make those frames take a dive but DLSS on quality will make it almost unnoticeable.

If there's DLSS overrides, Then you'll get the new models which are even closer in visual fidelity to native 4k.

I can't see why there wouldn't be DLSS overrides though for this upcoming patch, given that overrides are in the nvidia app for RDR2.

2080 is still a heavy lifting gpu if you don't throw path tracing and native 4k on modern games without DLSS at it lol

2

u/bradene7 Feb 20 '25

Absolutely, I mainly play on a 4k 144hz monitor and always use 4k. Also have a second 1080p monitor, and it holds its own very well.

2

u/Snowman319 Feb 20 '25

Damn that’s great to hear!

2

u/Few_Diamond5020 Feb 20 '25

thank fucking god I got a 4070 super

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

wipes brow in 3060TI

2

u/MMIV777 Feb 20 '25

yea lets dickride shitty game optimization in today's age where you pay 2k for a shitty gpu that gets fried after 1 month and needs ai to upscale the game in order for it to run above 30 fps...

2

u/LibrarianOk7983 Feb 21 '25

I hope that FSR 3.1/XeSS support is there too!

3

u/KachraBhiKhelat Can’t connect to R* servers Feb 21 '25

FSR support is there too. Read the notes on R* website.

2

u/chessset5 Feb 21 '25

My GTX 1080 + i7 6700 can run the game at ultra settings 1080p at 160 fps. Why would I want to nuke that performance?

1

u/Chonker14 Feb 20 '25

Is gtx 1650 mobile good for expanded and enhanced

2

u/_asstronaut_ Feb 20 '25

Almost all graphical enhancements are implemented with ray tracing, which the 1650 is not capable of running. So you probably won't see any major differences in graphics or framerates. Performance might fluctuates more now that Online got a bunch of new stuffs though, fortunately FSR 3 is also a welcome addition.

2

u/Jevano Feb 20 '25

Should be fine, if not you can enable fsr3 and get more fps

2

u/splinter1545 splinter1545 Feb 20 '25

It is. Minimum is GTX 1630 and a mobile 1650 (alongside a desktop 1650) is way better than it.

1

u/ad1s6h Feb 20 '25

I have a 3060 so I can use DLSS 3 right but NVIDIA is saying its for 4000 series and beyond.

3

u/MrBootylove Feb 20 '25

With the 30 series cards you can still use DLSS 4, but you can't use frame gen.

1

u/ad1s6h Feb 20 '25

But use fsr 3 frame gen right?

1

u/CrowLikesShiny Feb 20 '25

Yes, but i doubt Rockstar will implement FSR3 because Nvidia's scummy sponsorship money

Edit: nvm fsr3 will be available

1

u/splinter1545 splinter1545 Feb 20 '25

We don't know if it's frame gen or upscaling, though. There are games that use FSR3 but not the frame generation portion of it. I'm playing through Lost Records: Bloom and Rage right now and I can't use FSR frame gen despite it being FSR3, but Nvidia frame generation is supported.

1

u/CrowLikesShiny Feb 21 '25

Right that's true. I guess we will wait till release to know

1

u/MrBootylove Feb 20 '25

Yeah, you can. I doubt it'll be in GTA 5, but honestly I'm not a big fan of frame gen anyway. It's nice if you're already getting 60 fps, but if you try to use it to supplement a low frame rate it adds input lag.

1

u/DankRSpro Feb 20 '25

what about FSR 4?

1

u/Sky_Fighter0 Feb 20 '25

If dlss 3 comes that means dx 12 support?

1

u/MrBootylove Feb 20 '25

This also paves way for 6, wherein we can safely assume whenever it comes for PC will have DLSS support.

I don't think whether or not 6 would have DLSS was ever in question considering Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PC with DLSS. It's actually pretty rare for a PC game to not have DLSS as an option these days.

1

u/MysteriousBrick6057 Feb 20 '25

Um... Will the game run on my good old 1050ti after the update? Cuz as of now it's run smoothly only low to medium settings🥹

2

u/splinter1545 splinter1545 Feb 20 '25 edited Feb 21 '25

Barely. Probably all low settings even with upscaling.

That's just a guess though since this doesn't list what quality settings or resolution the minimum or recommended run on.

2

u/MysteriousBrick6057 Feb 21 '25

Guess I gotta upgrade to a newer gpu then

2

u/splinter1545 splinter1545 Feb 21 '25

The recommend GPU (RTX 3060) is pretty cheap and good for a budget PC. I have the 12 GB VRAM version of it and so far it has played every game I threw at it, including unoptimized games like Stalker 2 and demanding games like Alan Wake 2 at 1080p.

Although if you want a cheaper upgrade, potentially anyways, then a 1660 is perfect tbh and can still run most new games today.

1

u/Dahwaann4U Feb 20 '25

Few im still within the threshold

1

u/randomdude8659 Feb 20 '25

Well guess my poopy pc with a gtx 1650 wont be able to run gta v

1

u/Painty_Dev Feb 20 '25

If you're talking about RT for the recommended GPU, it's for me.
Still going strong with my RX 590.

1

u/albweeb Feb 20 '25

How wonderful, i have a 2060. What does this mean for us with older cards?

1

u/AtomicFuckNut Feb 21 '25

Welp, I'm glad the PC I just bought is well enough.

1

u/OMEGACY [OMEGACY] [LINK] Feb 21 '25

One thing that's interesting to think about is that they haven't been consistent with the release time for the pc version of past games. 4 came out within the same year as consoles, 5 was a year later, rdr2 took a little over a year. So who's to say with gta 6? Maybe it'll take a little longer than a year.

....Or maybe it'll come out after 6 months cause they tested out things on 5 that we're seeing now. I imagine they want the cash cow flowing as soon as possible and if the content creation platform rumours are true the best option would be pc ASAP and consoles being able to use pc approved assets to really get the community in full swing. A real 1 2 combo hit.

1

u/Swyt461_ Feb 21 '25

I have an AMD card...

1

u/DaveMash Feb 21 '25

Lol why only DLSS3?

1

u/Ok-Sundae9995 Feb 21 '25

some good news from R*

1

u/ayanokojifrfr Feb 21 '25

Well if it has dlss support, all the more reason to go for 50 series. 5070 ti is definitely better than 2060 I am running right now. But gonna need over all upgrade. Bahut kharcha hone wala hai

1

u/ZooBot23 Feb 21 '25

Do you think there will be newer high resolution textures?

1

u/Personal-Stable1591 Feb 21 '25

I mean why would 6 not have dlss? All of not most games support it nowadays anyways lol.

1

u/apexeliteoctane Feb 21 '25

1650 😭😭😭😭

1

u/[deleted] Feb 24 '25

My GTX1080 runs gta v ultra 4k just fine

1

I'm sorry but can you speak in American? I don't understand any of that fancy nerd talk

-6

u/FudgeControl Potato Laptop Feb 20 '25

Isn't 8GB VRAM considered low these days? I have 16GB and I still get stutters and occasional crashes.

13

u/Professional_Shine52 Feb 20 '25

I don't really think so, I have an 8gb 3060ti and I get a stable 60fps with everything maxed out at 1080p everywhere except on cayo, and my game has never crashed so far.

3

u/k0guci0r Feb 20 '25

I have the same card and GTAV is also running at a stable >60fps on 4k. I had to lower the grass settings but otherwise everything is set to ultra.

2

u/fNightmare Feb 20 '25

lol yes, I have a gtx 970 with its infamous "4" GB vram, almost everything maxed out, I even have 1.5x frame scaling, and I didn't have a crash in years 🤣

2

u/SnooMarzipans1416 Feb 20 '25

What's your cpu brother ?

1

u/fNightmare Feb 22 '25

its an i5 4590, it sometimes gets saturated specially when travelling very fast, its time for an upgrade I know 😭

1

u/splinter1545 splinter1545 Feb 20 '25 edited Feb 20 '25

No idea why you're getting downvoted. 8 GB of VRAM is pitiful in the modern era of gaming, it's why my 3060 12 GB can beat out the 4060 because I have a lot more wiggle room when it comes to features that use VRAM. 8 GB of VRAM will struggle with RT and frame generation especially at 1440p depending on graphics settings.

Although, I think you're thinking of RAM with your comment, since 16 GB VRAM shouldn't be causing you problems at all.

u/LordNikon2600 Feb 20 '25

I haven’t heard anything about GTa6 online..
