It’s genuinely crazy to me we’re slowly witnessing the end of gta online the things stayed around like a grain of sand in your shoe and it’s finally about to fall out

Gta online 1 is going to live long after gta online 2 because people will cry that they have to start from 0

I don’t know I suppose for some super casual people who are allergic to grinds that’s definitely possible, although it certainly won’t be getting content updates, but most people that enjoy the game to its core have made multiple accounts on online so I think think most people would be pretty happy to move over I know I will and I probably won’t come back unless I wanna drive around on the map I definitely won’t be grinding haha

Unless Rockstar decides to shut it down to force the move to Online 2

Or rockstar runs them parallel to each other while allowing you to use the same character, changing lobbies by going to the airport and flying from Los Santos to Vice City (with rank tied to city, and maybe a limit of cash on hand so I can't start on the Vice City map with my full $50,000,000 or whatever I have).

That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

Ya know I think this is a fantastic idea man, but a pipe dream...rockstar is gonna do whatever they can to assure people with the money to spare will buy shark cards rather than allow money from GTA 5 to roll over. At least that's my opinion from being a massive rockstar fan for the last decade.

This is the ideal setup in my opinion, but I don’t have the highest of hopes that Rockstar will bring it to fruition.

It just wouldn't die. I was honestly surprised they kept updating it after the Franklin update. Whos buying shark cards in 2025 to fund all these updates. Maybe they just do it as a hobby. 3 people over there brain storming content and slapping it in.

It’s been on life support since the tuners dlc everything after that was definitely extra

The tuners update was great tho. I never grinded or anything haven’t finished any of the guest outside of the first one ( have no friends and the randoms would scree it up ) and barley played much. Spent every dime and bought $40 of shark cards to buy my cars and just drive around.

I still remember that stretch of time, maybe 2017 where people thought gta online was dying. I was there since 2013 and it’s crazy seeing how strong it’s still going. The casino heist brought a bunch of the original players back, and Cayo Perico brought in tons of new players.

cayo finally let me afford some nice things. but eventually the finale redo let me afford everything i wanted.

i will definitely not be grinding for 6. i will play every bit of content once. and only replay if they are replayable. grinding for money aint replayable. so i will likely stay in single player. and other great story games (some have to be released over time). maybe when ive finished everything nice ive ever wanted to do ill give 6 online a good ol grind for old times sake.

I'm still curious how they're going to handle the switch. The amount of real life dollars poured into GTA online, I feel like people are going to be pissed if they don't get SOMETHING when GTA 6 comes around

Its a different game, you shouldn't care if the next one you dont get anything for playing the previous one. People thjnking they deserve to "transfer characters to GTA6O are so silly

I have 2k hours in gta online, all i want is a free car or something for 6 idc about rank money guns

AND FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST stop making everything such a long grind

Seriously all we should get is something that lets you show your "OG" status from GTAV and that's it. Whether it's a car, tattoo, etc

"I Ground Thousands of Hours in GTA5 And All I Got Was This Stupid Tee-Shirt"

or

"Keep Calm & Start Grinding From Scratch"

or even

"The Forums Are Fuelled By GTA5 Online Tears"

1

u/pointlessone Feb 21 '25

"I was a billionaire in Los Santos and all I got was this lousy T-shirt" or however the Vice City 100% shirt was phrased

2

u/InsertEvilLaugh Feb 20 '25

It's not unreasonable to ask our characters be able to come to GTA6, but some kind of recognition is warranted and should be added. Also with how successful GTAO was, you're going to grind hard in GTA6 Online. No way in hell are they going to ignore the money making cash cow that is Shark Cards.

1

u/AFRIKKAN Feb 21 '25

As long as gta online is around for awhile and not just a year or two then I can agree. If they go the nba 2k route where online is disabled after two years and your my career and my player are gone then it’s worthless.

2

u/acemastro Feb 20 '25

I love had a sneaky suspicion that ever since they renamed the online portion to GTAO instead of GTAVO, they’ve got in their minds that they’re going to just update Online so it fits with 6, similar to how Fortnite does it. He’ll be almost entirely a new Online game, but you’ll keep your level, guns, money, and MAYBE cars (even more unlikely than my base theory). It would be quite cool, but it’s unfathomably unlikely.

u/Volks21 Feb 20 '25

New city that your GTAO character has never been to. All of their ill-gotten gains are left behind in Los Santos while they climb to the top of the ladder in Vice City. Hopefully some of the business contacts come back and mention a "guy they worked with in LS"

Just add +3 years to the console countdown
