I hope old players won't have to grind career progress goals in order to claim rewards, because i pretty much completed all DLC awards and i'm not in the mood to do all over again.

haha, I do believe "retroactively" is the word you were looking for (no worries, just made me chuckle a little)

EDIT: According to Tez2 on GTAForums: "The game has been tracking Career Progress stats since the San Andreas Mercenaries update. I believe we'll see challenges completed instantly if you've reached the quota for them upon upgrading, as the stats are already in place."

I’m not 100% sure but I believe Tez or Rockstar said career progress has been tracking since the release of E&E on consoles, may be misremembering but that’s what I believe.
