If I would like to learn at home, what would be recommended to learn in order? I don't know whether to try to learn each individual notes, the chords, how to read sheet music, I don't know where to start. Eventually, I would like to be able to play metal songs using (or even better without using) tabs, just not sure what would be the best use of my time.

There's two routes you can take:

Start learning sheet music and all the notes in the first three frets.

Start learning chords/power chords and easy solos.

I think the first route is the best but I'm heavily biased towards the study of music, whereas the second route is what most people do to varying degrees of success.

If you want an easy start to sheet music for guitar, look at Sor Op 60 and start from the first pieces. They're designed for day 1 guitarists and you'll be better than most year 3 students if you make it through the whole thing.
