Couldn't they still only have the xx90 cards 3nm and anything below it stay on 4nm?

that would mean they would need to design a new architecture for 3 nm node. A lot of extra costs. also 3 nm yields probably arent as good as 4 nm. and 5090 chip is huge so yields matter a lot.
