What's everyone's Sunday night show these days?
Has HBO dropped the new Sunday night show? I only see a few shows that don't appeal to the masses. What are you watching tonight?

Though I’m watching an episode a night before I go to sleep and will be sad when it ends bc I’m out of good 30 min shows

Unfortunately, HBO has really fallen off from the Sunday night Marquee shows.

HBO needs to own 36-42 of the Sunday nights per year. That is 4 high quality shows. I hope they get back to that and not cede Sunday nights.

u/Turbulent_Tale6497 1d ago
To get 42 weeks, they'd need like 6 high quality shows, based on current season length

u/jamiestar9 1d ago
Well, if The Pitt shifted to Sunday nights that first season would have been 15 Sundays right there.

I was late to finding the Knick and now I’m sad it’s over. And sad Gilded Age is over. I need a new show to obsess over.

Loved The Knick! And really miss it!

I hate that it barely got any attention. I stumbled onto it completely by accident. Amazing show.

Well it was a Cinemax show, so a lot of people missed it when it originally aired. It only came to HBO (or Max) a few years ago.
I think they showed the pilot on HBO originally, and that was enough for me to find… ehhem, alterantive methods of watching. It was an incredible show.

Gilded Age but it ended 🥲 I need something new

u/savingewoks 2d ago
I cancelled the day after it ended. Nothing on MAX I care about until The Pitt comes back in January, and I’m sure there will be a Black Friday discount in a few months.

Oh really, nice I can watch it now.

u/NoneOfThisMatters_XO 2d ago
Why couldn’t you watch it before?

u/DougyTwoScoops 2d ago
I didn’t want to wait week to week

Yeah that was tough. It was a good season. Big cliffhanger at the end.

The Yogurt Shop Murders which ends tonight. I know a lot of people on here aren’t impressed, but I’m enjoying it.

I thought it’s been well done. There’s damn near zero evidence so to form 4 hours around this is pretty good.

Just started season 4 of Six Feet Under. Yes it's my first time, but I was busy having kids and watching all their shows when it was on, so now that they are all grown, I'm catching up on stuff I missed back on the day lol
Btw, if anyone else hasn't seen it yet, it is fantastic. Not quite as good as the Sopranos but almost as good as The Wire, IMO anyway 🤷🏼♀️

I started watching The Knick - didn't catch it when it premiered in 2015. It's excellent. Quite macabre and not for the faint of heart though.

Yogurt shop last 4 weeks. Pretty sparse before and after that though. Maybe IT in October.

Just finished the first season of Falling Skies. How did I miss this, it’s pretty good. I love all the practical effects and sets. CG isn’t horrible either.

I am really happy Peacemaker is back. Sopranos during the week, but I don’t love it as much as most people seem to. I’m about to start season 4.

u/galaaus 1d ago
But season 3 is pretty awesome.

u/BlarbequeBlibs 1d ago
I just find the characters so unlikable. Paulie, Carmela, and AJ are my favorites but the rest of the people suck. I’m probably watching it too late. It’s not bad, but my expectations were really high.

Feel like you're maybe missing the point...

I mean that they are predictable and uninteresting. I liked Succession and other mobster related stuff..

Literally looking for something now that Gildead Age is over!
And not interested in the the Yougurt shop murders.

Rewatching The Gilded Age (entire series) since the Season 3 finale two weeks ago. ☹️
It’s going to be a while until Season 4 starts.

We just watched all four seasons of the “Long Way” shows with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman on motorcycles touring the world. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Long Way Round
Long Way Down
Long Way Up
Long Way Home

So good! I love how this last season you can tell they are just older and chill now, and the show is way more safe. No riding through Mongolia or through Rwanda. Just pastries and sightseeing lol

My subscription was going to renew in September and I got an email reminder. It made me realize we haven’t had a good Sunday show to watch in a couple of months and don’t see any good ones coming up so we canceled.

One episode of The West Wing (watching for the first time 25 years late!) + one episode of The Residence.

How often is there a non cringe epsiode?

u/G0mery 2d ago
Depends on what makes you cringe. It reminds me of The Daily Show heyday, when JS was ripping GWB and his cast of buffoons nightly in what now can only be described as the good old days.

u/nl5hucd1 2d ago
All his topics are so serious and it’s just not as light hearted as it was in the earlier times

u/scarface5631 2d ago
Have you taken a look at the world around you recently?

u/nl5hucd1 2d ago
The world has been bad forever and will be when we are gone. If i want the news i’ll watch it. Even Bill Maher is still funny despite all that’s going on.

It is a Sunday nighter but I was pretty disappointed in season three. Hoping season four writing is better.

HBO should legit just re-show old shows on Sunday
Sopranos at 8 (starting over, in order)
Then cycle through Chernobyl, Rome, White Lotus, etc. at 9
Old John Olivers at 10
1
u/Spunndaze 1d ago
That's exactly what they should do. Many people (me included) want a collective watching live tweeting/Reddit posting experience while watching our Sunday show.

HBO still has Sunday night shows, but most just stream it anyways, but House of the dragon, the Dune show that follows the Bennegeserits around spreading the gospel of Paul or whoever was supposed to take the mantle. I suppose we'll see that Paul chooses in the 3rd movie. They also have another series coming out that's from the world of the game of thrones following Dunk and Egg around called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. What night was Pitt on? That may not be a Sunday series but it should be. The White Lotus is a Sunday series isn't it? Peacemaker should be, but it's confusing with the whole HBO and HBO Max and now they have a hundred other stations that makes it difficult to tell when a show premiers. seems like Thursday and Friday are the new Sunday which is odd since Friday used to be the death knell of a series. The thing is people can watch a show whenever they want to so the night no longer matters but I do believe HBO still has a few series that premiere on Sundays. It's just not like when they had the wire, sopranos, Deadwood, amongst other gems, like Game of Thrones years later. Still they have some series coming and I forgot one the last of us s a Sunday night series as well isn't it? Like I said though, doesn't matter when a shows released, because people will watch it whenever they want and oftentimes they will wait for the season to be over to start watching .
