How good is my economy?

Hey, how good is my economy over distance? How do I do it? Come on, torque to me… I always get 7.5litres/100km for highway, awesome vehicle driven wisely.

How many liters is your engine?

I have a 3.0 liter D4D, and I get about 10 liters per 100km minimum, so the fact you can get 6.9 liters for a hilux is incredible

It’s the 2.8litre gen8 2025 model, thanks for asking

It's an excellent average, mine is 2025 2.8L diesel, and it's doing 10.5L/100km.

You carry load? I got (depending on quality / type of diesel I fill up with) , around 7.9l/100 ..dual cab sr 2023 on highway. But as it's a 2025 (prob very new), your fuel figures will definitely improve over time

That’s incredible. Were you going downhill or something?

Plus a DPF and watch the numbers rise. 10.6 L per 100km at steady 110. Little better around town.

Tub or tray? Roof rack? Yeah no idea how you do it.

Dual cab tub no appendages so it’s as clean as form as can be.

Great!! On my 2.8 I am 12.3 with a living cabin on top (around 800kg). Not complaining, it could be worst. Of course most of the time in ECO.

What year, model variant, etc is your Hilux?

And what does “driven wisely” mean?

It’s 2.8litre gen 8 2025 with 10,000km on the odometer. By “driven wisely” I mean using the torque rather than the rpm; and lots of tricks I learnt from a hybrid C-HR and now a hybrid RAV-4, such as: coasting to lights and roundabouts, rather than using brakes; cruising uphill, never booting it uphill, and accelerating downhill with the aid of the gravitational potential energy; slipstreaming only when some idiot invades my radar… sticking to the speed limit because power (resistance) is proportional to the cube of the velocity. Thanks for asking.

Driving style is a huge factor in economy

Is it one of the 48v models?

If its a 2wd with no heavy load or accessories then seems legit. Or if you sit at 90-95km/h. I used to get high 7’s in a 1998 land rover discovery 2.5l diesel manual back in the day when it was stock. In any 4wd if you add all terrains, bullbar, roof rack and any kind of load and you’ll get 12’s. So yes very good economy for a stock vehicle driven carefully in the right conditions. Super impressive if it’s a 4wd.

Thanks yes it’s the 4wd dual cab - but highway cycle of course. It will be different when I get all that gear and tow and terrain change. Thanks for the chat

You are going mostly downhill for sure mate. No way that’s normal driving. Once I went down from Blackheath to Penrith. Got 5.5l/ 100 also
