I made NAHL training camp as the 11th defensemen.
Hi all, it’s my first time posting on this thread, but I wanted to share that I am 18 years old, and just made NAHL training camp as the 11th defensemen.
A little bit of a backstory, but I’ve been playing hockey my entire life and the only thing I’ve ever wanted was to go D1 in hockey and then go overseas to play pro. In all 3 of my eligible draft years(junior hockey), I never got drafted, let alone any looks by NAHL and USHL teams- including a lot of cuts at various main camps. Last season, I was on the verge of quitting hockey and was planning on going to college to get a degree, but in May I got a tender offer from a NAHL team. I started training again during the spring and summer and now I made it out of main camp as the last defenseman that got invited to training camp.
I am the youngest defenseman at the camp, as well as the second to smallest one, standing at 5’10 160lb. The top 8 defensemen make the final roster, and on the depth chart I’m 11th. My game revolves around my exceptional skating and playmaking, as well as my aggressiveness when I don’t have the puck.
My two weeks of training camp start tomorrow, and i feel as if this is my last shot to keep my dream alive. I’m just curious if anyone has been in the same situation as me, and what tips you guys have so that I can really stand out and move my way up the lineup to make the final roster.

If your favourite team could have a re-do on one transaction over the past 10 years, what would it be?
Could be a trade, draft pick, signing etc.

Greatest player to never win a championship
Who is the greatest player to never win a championship?
I'm not talking about the often debated "Who's the greatest player to never win a Stanley Cup"... I'm referring to any significant hockey championship.
Stanley Cup
Calder Cup
Memorial Cup
NCAA title
Even international tournaments like:
Olympics
Canada Cup/World Cup/Four Nations/Summit Series
World Championship
World Junior Championship (Under 20s)
Many of those great players who've never won a Stanley Cup have won atleast one of the above-mentioned titles.
Off the top of my head, I'd suggest Pierre Turgeon. Not only did he never win anything, I don't believe he ever made the finals in any league/tournament (Punch-up in Piešťany would be the closest?)

r/hockey Survivor 2025: Round 17
The Calgary Flames received the most overall votes, as well as of the West. The Washington Capitals received the fourth-most overall, the most of the East.
The Eastern Conference received immunity. This does not affect the result.
Flames, the tribe has spoken…
Now, here's some ground rules:
-Keep all discussion within the r/hockey Survivor threads and approved threads on team subs. Don't pester the rest of the fanbase.
-Be respectful. Light-hearted banter and your standard trash talk is okay, but don't let it turn nasty. Basically, just adhere to Reddiquette and the r/hockey rules.
-Don't complain to the r/hockey mods. This whole thing is my brainchild, not theirs. Any complaints should be directed to me.
The non-immune team with the most votes in each poll will be eliminated, This will continue for an additional 19 rounds until round 20, when immunities are removed, and then round 30, where users will vote for the winner of r/hockey Survivor among the three remaining teams.
Google account required to participate.
VOTE TO ELIMINATE A TEAM HERE
Polling will close between 9 AM and 12 PM EST tomorrow. Results will go out with the next round between 12 and 4 PM EST.

[Offseason] The 2025 r/hockey Roast of the Vancouver Canucks (18/32)
A suggestion to keep these threads fresh and not full of the same recycled jokes is to roast strictly on events/stories from June 14th, 2023 (the day after the end of the 2023 Finals, the last time we did this) to today.
Be creative.
Things you should try to avoid (unless genuinely creative) include but are not limited to:
San Jose choking
Vancouver rioting
Vegas being historic/using LTIR
Sabres' playoff drought
Minnesota being Wild-ly average
Calgary being eternally mid
Nashville raising a banner for everything
Marchand being a rat
Leafs in the first round
Utah soaker/Mormon jokes
In general, any other overplayed memes
Roast Schedule:
Florida Panthers – Boom, roasted.
Edmonton Oilers – Boom, roasted.
Dallas Stars – Boom, roasted.
Carolina Hurricanes – Boom, roasted.
Winnipeg Jets – Boom, roasted.
Washington Capitals – Boom, roasted.
Vegas Golden Knights – Boom, roasted.
Toronto Maple Leafs – Boom, roasted.
Los Angeles Kings – Boom, roasted.
Tampa Bay Lightning – Boom, roasted.
Colorado Avalanche – Boom, roasted.
Ottawa Senators – Boom, roasted.
Minnesota Wild – Boom, roasted.
St. Louis Blues – Boom, roasted.
New Jersey Devils – Boom, roasted.
Montreal Canadiens – Boom, roasted.
Calgary Flames – Boom, roasted.
Have at it!

[Weekly Thread] Subreddit Picture of the Week: Make your submissions & votes - Aug 24, 2025
Hello, /r/hockey, and welcome to the Sidebar Picture of the Week thread!
Put your mark on /r/hockey!
Later this evening we will check this thread. Post a photo you think most represents last week's action. The one with the most upvotes will become the sidebar photo of the week.
No GIFs! No Photoshops! Action only!
Your submissions have to be pictures (not GIFs) from the last week. Please keep in mind that they have to fit nicely in our sidebar, so a good landscape framed shot works best. Also try to make your submissions about game action and not just "the lighter side of hockey." Photos that don't follow this will be removed/disqualified.
This thread has been put into contest mode. It will be turned off once votes are tallied. The chosen image will be put in the sidebar and linked to this thread.

What current NHL player will you defend no matter what?
Your emotional support player, if you will. It doesn't even have to be a current player on your favorite team. Just someone you will always support and defend so long as their in the league.
Also, not talking about supporting decisions or the players opinions outside of hockey. Strictly hockey related support!
