Stanley absolutely knew what they were doing with this and you can’t convince me otherwise

Everyone begrudgingly knows 2067 was when Toronto would eventually win the cup. 100 years after 1967.
This just extended it another 100 years.

21967…

u/CesareSomnambulist OTT - NHL 17h ago
So pessimistic, I don't expect the streak to stretch any later than 11967

u/pluralsight24 VAN - NHL 19h ago
Crazy, the pilot must have thought that the plane was going to crash

If only the co-pilot felt they could speak up. They could have stopped this

Best one I ever heard on a flight from Vancouver to Edmonton:
“Make sure you secure your own mask before helping someone who may need assistance, such as children, the elderly, or Calgary Flames fans.”

Tell him to disconnect the PlayStation. He shouldn't be playing it on duty.

u/AccidentalGK BOS - NHL 18h ago
And after he got off the plane he had to blow in a tube and piss in a cup.

u/Indyboy TBL - NHL 15h ago
Did they also ask him to bend over, turn his head, and cough?

Everything about this cover is beyond cursed
Plan the Parade: Toronto will win the Stanley Cup, it’s only a matter of when. And how many.
Casey Mittelstadt: Buffalo’s Burning Ray of Light
Olympics Special: History is Made by Team USA…and Germany? (Admittedly Germany did nab a podium finish)
Better Goalie: Ilya Samsonov or Carter Hart?

Very well could be wrong. The heat death of the universe may come before the Leafs win again

The year is 2156. A violent gust of wind snatches leaves from solitary maple tree high atop a hill, scattering them into the wind. It carries a particular leaf far afield to a crumbling metropolis of ages past where it tumbles over cracked streets populated with forgotten vehicles and desiccated skyscrapers. It flies further still, through a hole in a broken structure where it finally alights on a tarnished silver chalice warped from age poking out of rubble in a vast hall...
and a prophecy is fulfilled.

Clever of the pilot to not specify a year. As long as the Leafs win a Cup literally ever again, he can say he was right. And if they don’t, he’ll be dead so nobody can rub it in.

Someone needs to check on that pilot - senility is dangerous for the passengers
3
u/DonnieLives ANA - NHL 18h ago
Such delusions are usually a sign of severe mental illness which generally disqualify one from being a commercial airline pilot

u/tundrabarone 17h ago
I came to Canada (3 year old immigrant) in December 1967. The Leafs last won in May 1967. I don’t expect to live long enough to see them win. More likely to see the Marlies win the Calder Cup.

Surely we will win one before the expansion of the sun.
Perhaps humanity will go interstellar, and the franchise will relocate, which buys us a few more billion years before the heat death of the universe.
I say we do it.

Definitely not fit to fly a passenger aircraft. Psychological test needed for sure

To be fair, the leafs will almost certainly win another cup one day. It might take 100 years, but it's likely to happen eventually. So... not wrong.. maybe..
2
u/Tortastrophe PIT - NHL 16h ago
The 5072 Maple Leafs can cut this audio into their Cup winning montage.
2
u/hikingdub 16h ago
With global warming, the Leafs have maybe 50-75 years to win a cup......so maybe.

u/InvisibleTacoTruck 16h ago
I’ve been hearing that for the 23 years I’ve been on this planet, and it still hasn’t happened.

Imagine taking a commercial flight and not knowing until you land that your pilot is a fucking psychopath

u/doyouunderstandlife FLA - NHL 14h ago
To be fair, he didn't specify how far into the future that will be. When the apocalypse comes in 2150 and forces the league to go back to six teams, the Leafs will finally have a shot again

Yknow. You gotta respect leafs fans for believing every damn season that this is the one. Like after 50 years of disappointment as a flyers fan I never would dare to say out loud with zero irony, this is the year, but without fail every year, it rises out of Toronto like smoke from a wildfire.
I aspire to have that level of mania in my life

I heard the same thing one year from a San Diego tour guide. That was the year the Padres choked down the stretch to lose the division to the Giants, and the rest is history.

It seems unprofessional for a pilot to openly lie to everyone on board
