This is the Kingsbridge National Ice Center.

Mess is CEO. Nine year-round, indoor rinks inside a historic armory in the Bronx. Opening in 2017.

Multi-tiers of ice pads? That's amazing.

That looks incredible. Although with how often I have walked into rinks and been confused about which ice I am playing on that day and where to find my locker (and that is with only 3 sheets) , I hope they have a very streamlined system.

I hear rumors that New England Sports Center is growing from six to eight rinks

Wow that's really amazing and really exciting for ny. Floyd Bennett field is already a great facility but this will definitely help promote hockey even more in the area and hopefully help create more competitive hockey for future generations.

Kingsbridge national ice center will become the biggest ice complex in the world

Hope you can entertain a dumb question, but will all the rinks be ice? any chance of a place to roller skate?

The wonderful women of Gotham Girls Roller Derby & the fine handsome gents of the New York Shock Exchange would be very interested. Also, GGRD has a great youth program, but finding places to skate and hold bouts/practice has been a big problem.

I believe it's supposed to be 9 ice rinks.

IDK anything about roller skating rinks, but typically big ice complexes, like arenas in Canada that have 4 ice surfaces or something, they will allow 2 of them to be melted in the summer for ball hockey and lacrosse games. the surface is far too slippery for roller blades or roller skates.

right now the league uses a hand assembled rubber(?) tile floor that gets lugged around everywhere and hand assembled by volunteers. We use the exact same kinda surface at abe stark arena in coney island when its melted in the summer but if there was a space GGRD could use regularly maybe they could store it onsite and save some assembly time so that everyone can leave & start drinking earlier. bruised grrls want beer!
