Build-A-Mount-Rushmore Day 1: Anaheim Ducks

Rules of the post are simple. Each day, I will post a new topic for the next team alphabetically. Comments should have no more than one eligible player listed, and at the end of each day the top four highest-upvoted comments will be enshrined as that team's Mt. Rushmore.

Eligible players must have played at least one game for that franchise. We will only be considering that player's career with that team (though obviously each person will use their own judgment on who they comment or who they upvote.)

Let's start, Duckbros. Who's on your Mt. Rushmore?

I didn't know where to post this but I'm curious if this is Sheldon Kennedys stick, I got it from my old neighbour who was an equipment manager for a junior team he played for, I'm not sure when he worked for them but I know it could have been around when Sheldon Kennedy played, there is no signature on it like most of the other ones, so I only have the name Kennedy to work with, if anyone could tell me please let me know.

[Offseason] The 2025 r/hockey Roast of the Calgary Flames (17/32)

Sorry for the delay, folks! Had a rough day yesterday.

A suggestion to keep these threads fresh and not full of the same recycled jokes is to roast strictly on events/stories from June 14th, 2023 (the day after the end of the 2023 Finals, the last time we did this) to today.

Be creative.

Things you should try to avoid (unless genuinely creative) include but are not limited to:

  • San Jose choking

  • Vancouver rioting

  • Vegas being historic/using LTIR

  • Sabres' playoff drought

  • Minnesota being Wild-ly average

  • Calgary being eternally mid

  • Nashville raising a banner for everything

  • Marchand being a rat

  • Leafs in the first round

  • Utah soaker/Mormon jokes

  • In general, any other overplayed memes

Roast Schedule:

Florida Panthers Boom, roasted.

Edmonton Oilers Boom, roasted.

Dallas Stars Boom, roasted.

Carolina Hurricanes Boom, roasted.

Winnipeg Jets Boom, roasted.

Washington Capitals Boom, roasted.

Vegas Golden Knights Boom, roasted.

Toronto Maple Leafs Boom, roasted.

Los Angeles Kings Boom, roasted.

Tampa Bay Lightning Boom, roasted.

Colorado Avalanche Boom, roasted.

Ottawa Senators Boom, roasted.

Minnesota Wild Boom, roasted.

St. Louis Blues Boom, roasted.

New Jersey Devils Boom, roasted.

Montreal Canadiens Boom, roasted.

Calgary Flames – 8/23

Vancouver Canucks – 8/24

Columbus Blue Jackets – 8/25

Detroit Red Wings – 8/26

New York Rangers – 8/27

Pittsburgh Penguins – 8/28

Anaheim Ducks – 8/29

Buffalo Sabres – 8/30

Seattle Kraken – 8/31

Boston Bruins – 9/1

Philadelphia Flyers – 9/2

Nashville Predators – 9/4

Utah Mammoth – 9/4

Chicago Blackhawks – 9/5

San Jose Sharks – 9/6

New York Islanders – 9/7

Have at it!

r/hockey Survivor 2025: Round 16

Sorry for the delay, folks! Had a rough day yesterday.

The Seattle Kraken received the most overall votes, as well as of the West. The Pittsburgh Penguins received the third-most overall, the most of the East.

The Eastern Conference received immunity. This does not affect the result.

Now, here's some ground rules:

-Keep all discussion within the r/hockey Survivor threads and approved threads on team subs. Don't pester the rest of the fanbase.

-Be respectful. Light-hearted banter and your standard trash talk is okay, but don't let it turn nasty. Basically, just adhere to Reddiquette and the r/hockey rules.

-Don't complain to the r/hockey mods. This whole thing is my brainchild, not theirs. Any complaints should be directed to me.

The non-immune team with the most votes in each poll will be eliminated, This will continue for an additional 19 rounds until round 20, when immunities are removed, and then round 30, where users will vote for the winner of r/hockey Survivor among the three remaining teams.

Players to record their first 1,000 points with not only one team, but only one coach.

Was just thinking about this with Kucherov only 6pts away from 1k and having played his entire career under Cooper.

I could only find Gretzky, Bossy and Trottier. Are there any others?

EDIT: As u/kenner1979 pointed out, Sather didn’t start the 1980-81 season as head coach of the Oilers. So Gretzky doesn’t count.

[News - X] [Dreger] At this point, it appears the NHL will move forward with World Cup preparations without IIHF involvement. The league has informed the IIHF it intends on working directly with each Hockey Federation in planning the 2028 event.

How many more times will the NHL expand?

My guess is the league stops expanding once it gets to 40 teams. If the NFL can support 32 markets in the US, the NHL will eventually want to do the same (plus have 7 or 8 Canadian teams), especially now that non-traditional markets seem successful. What number do you think they will stop at? Again, I see the NHL being the biggest of the four main North American pro leagues in the future since the other leagues are unlikely to ever have more than one or two Canadian teams.

EDIT: Someone asked for a timeline, so let's say 25 years.
